Well, I finished the FIRST TWO books of it.

I still haven't found those books anywhere!!!

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

I think their at my library.

Here is the List for January Read:
Aramnita Spook (Book One)
Spiderwick Chronicles
Leven Thumps (Book One)
The Goose Girl
Princess Academy
Bartimaeus Trilogy
The 39 Clues (Book One)
Fablehaven (Book One)
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Book One)
Ella Enchanted
Fairest
Walk Two Moons
The Two Princesses of Bamarre

These are all great suggestions, but we need a better variety of boy books to-read. Otherwise the boy members probably won't join the group read. Could we put Eragon on the list to read? Is there any books that we should cross off?

message 54: by Diana (new)

Diana Percy Jackson is a good book for boys and girls, and it would be awesome for January because then after reading it people could see the movie which comes out February 12.

You and I have the same reading tastes!!! The bolded ones are Fawsome!!! Fantastically awesome!!! I <3 Ian Kabra! Oh, and Eragon is okay... Umm, the 39 clues and Fablehaven and PJO are all books boys read. I know cuz my daddy reads them too... =_= Johnny Tremain? Probably not. I had to read that for school, and it was okay... May Bird. Ugh, NOT Twilight, okay? You can add some books by Frances O`Roark Dowell!! Where I'd like to be, Dovey Coe, The Secret Language of Girls, The Kind of Friends We Used to Be. Oh, and add Diary of a Wimpy Kid. And you read Fairest? I'm so glad!!! LONG DIE QUEEN IVI!!! ^__^

I've read(out of the list):
Araminta Spook(Book 1&2)
Spiderwick Chronicles(book 1)
The 39 clues(1-4)
...
Thats it...
So,thats a long list?! But,most of the time, for all of us, we won't always be able to do it, because we won't have a way of getting the books...
Atleast, that's the case with me..! o.O

Amanda Kristine (aklukken) | 1803 comments Mod
For me, some of the books on there don't appeal to me...Like the Spiderwick Chronicles, Princess Academy, Bartimaeus Trilogy, and The 39 Clues books. But hey, that's my opinion right??

message 58: by Diana (new)

Diana For Meghana, maybe we can choose a really popular books because that will be more likely for her to be able to get it.
Amanda--Yeah, I thought that Princess Academy and the 39 Clues weren't that good (but The Goose Girl by the same author as Princess Academy is really good, and I'm starting to like The 39 Clues more, especially because I like the multi-platform thing like the cards and website).
And I still think we should read Percy Jackson!! Lol but of course we can put it up to vote.

message 59: by Meghana, Tie your shoelaces. (new)

Meghana | 2459 comments Mod
Okay,who votes to vote??

xD
Lol,I'm funny.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

I was thinking that we vote in a poll for the read, we just need it down to five books. The books I listed are gathered up from different user comments in our topics.

message 61: by Diana (new)

Diana Ok, so we just need to narrow your list (message 55) down to five books, right? I think one way we can eliminate books is keeping the best books that can work for both boys and girls. We should also keep in mind the age group. SH is a pretty young series, but I think the people here are advanced readers, so idk about that. I don't want the book to be over their heads, but I don't want it to be boring either...idk!!

♫♥Selena♥♫ (wertyiu102) | 312 comments Okay, so my dad and I both like: Septimus Heap :)
The 39 Clues
Percy Jackson & the Olympians
Fablehaven... :) The end!!!

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexandar are simply brilliant.

Diana ♫♥Selena♥♫ wrote: "Okay, so my dad and I both like: Septimus Heap :)

So those would be good ones to select because they're good for girls and boys.
Are there any single books that would work?

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) The Prophecy by Hilari Bell. That would work.

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) Wait, did we already do that?

message 67: by Diana (new)

Diana Well, we've only read & discussed one book and that was Charlie Bone. I think maybe we talked about reading The Prophecy, but I didn't read it...
Ok so it looks like we have:

The 39 Clues Book 1: The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan (Adventure, ages 9-12)
Percy Jackson & the Olympians Book 1: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (Fantasy, ages 8-13/middle school)
Fablehaven Book 1 by Brandon Mull(the first one's just called Fablehaven; Fantasy, ages 9-12)
The Prophecy by Hilari Bell (Fantasy, ages 10 and up)

So we need one more. And we can change those above too. How about we make our final selection by Monday Jan. 4 and let people vote for a week (the end of voting would be Jan. 11, that leaves about 3 weeks for people to read).

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) I'm sure everyone here's read The Chronicles of Narnia.

message 69: by Diana (new)

Diana I read five of them, I think.

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) They're fantastic.

♫♥Selena♥♫ (wertyiu102) | 312 comments /i read all of these except for The Prophecy... Hmm, what about we have three lists... REcommmended for girls, recommended for guys, and for both!! ^__^

message 72: by [deleted user] (new)

I started Fablehaven, but I got bored with it. :(
Percy Jackson is a boy/girl series so that should stay on the list.

I love Percy Jackson!!!

Diana ♫♥Selena♥♫ wrote: "/i read all of these except for The Prophecy... Hmm, what about we have three lists... REcommmended for girls, recommended for guys, and for both!! ^__^"

That's a good idea. We can make discussions with lists for each of those. Right now we're trying to come up with a short list to choose from for the January Group Read, but we could talk about this in the actual Group Read topic...Haha oh well. I agree, PJO needs to stay. We could add the first Narnia book (uh...what's it called? Like, would we start with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe or The Magician's Nephew?) and then our 5-book list would be complete. Oh and I'll bring it up in the Moderator discussion too.

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Most people agree that it's the best start to the series.

♫♥Selena♥♫ (wertyiu102) | 312 comments I started reading Narnia, but it's SO boring!!! >.<

Amanda wrote: "The Lion, the Which, and the Wardrobe is the second one. The first one is The Magician's Nephew. "

Actually The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first book in the series. The Magician's Nephew is the sixth book.
