one of my major goals is to finish reading the bible this year - i understand the goals are personal landmarks, but is there a standard as to whether or not that counts as one book? or is each, well, book in it counted as a book?is matthew a book? or is the bible a book?
The rules are as you make them. If you want to count them separately, go right ahead. If you want to count it as one overall book, you can do that too.
I've finished reading On the Road, by Jack Kerouac, and really enjoyed it. It's not too often that I finish a book and find myself looking forward to reading it again, but that was the case with this one.
another book! i was eager to read this one at christmastime... it seemed strange to do so at any other time of year :)Christmas in British Columbia: Heartwarming legends, tales and traditions, by Rich Mole
I live in BC and have for the last 20 years, so it was a really interesting read because I could connect it with the life that I knew. Unless other people were from around here, or had an interest in the area, I'm not sure it would be quite as interesting.
Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur GoldenI promised myself I would read this book before seeing the movie, and I did! :)

I loved the movie. I didn't read the book. Let us know how the movie compares to the book.

Oh that sounds like a good book, I think I will add it to my list and read next holiday season. I too live in BC.
Happy New Year to you!

I enjoyed the movie, but not as much as the book. It's always strange seeing what elements were changed in the movie versions of stories. Sometimes they do make sense (the big change in the watchmen), but some of the ones in MOAG did not seem necessary (I'll happily talk about these with people in pm, but I don't want to put spoilers here).
I also thought the protaganist was made a lot more assertive, and seemed to have more of a western set of ideals and methods for achieving her goals than she did in the book.
All in all though, both were good fun!
ooops! didn't update for a bit, and also have gotten a bit behind...Garth Ennis - Preacher: War in the Sun
I am loving this series.
