"Sabrina I am so, so sorry," Alek whispered. "I swear I didn't mean it."

Sabrina nodded And took his hand in hers. "can we go home?" she asked softly.
Alek nodded. "Whatever you want."
Sabrina got in the car and buckled up.
Alek went around to the drivers seat, found his shirt, and fixed his seat before turned the car around and went back the way they came.
Sabrina stared out of the window, arms crossed and was quiet.
Alek watched her out of the corner of his eye as they drove.
Sabrina remained quiet and didn't turn on any music or really even look at him much through the drive.
Alek opened his mouth to say something, but then seemed to think better of it.
Alek pulled up to her house and parked. "See you Friday?" He asked, looking straight ahead instead of at her to make sure she didn't see how worried he was that she would say no.
"I told you I was going, didn't i?" Sabrina said as she opened her car door. she paused just long enough to kiss his cheek, then she headed inside.
Alek ran out ahead of her, dress box in hand. "You forgot this," he said holding it out to her.
"thanks" Sabrina said, taking the box.
Alek nodded, gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and was in the car driving away only a second later.
That evening Carlisle was waiting in Jacob's room for Susannah.
Susannah came an hour before vising hours ended, just like she had the past few weeks, a fresh daisy in her hand to replace the one that had wilted through the day next to Jacob's bed. "Good evening, Dr. Cullen," Susannah said when she saw him.
"Carlisle please," Carlisle said. "I have some good news."
"What's up?" Susannah asked curiously.
"I was mistaken this morning. I thought Jacob would take longer than he has. He's been ready to wake up for a few hours."
Susannah smiled more genuinely than she had in weeks. "Really?" she asked, almost afraid to believe it.
"Really," Carlisle said with a smile. "I would have done it earlier, but I thought you both would want you here. Is there anyone else you want to call to be here?"
Susannah shook her head. "Selfish as it is, I'd really like to be able to talk to him a bit before sharing him with the rest of the world again." she said.
"Well since you are first in next of kin it is up to you," Carlisle said, taking a syringe out of the table next to Jacob. He uncapped it and placed the end into a junction on the IV. He pushed the plunger and emptied the content into the tube. The medication traveled through the tube into the veins in Jacob's arm, working its way to his brain. The slow steady beep of the monitors picked up slightly as the drug reached its destination.
~Jacob felt like something was tugging at him, pulling him somewhere urgently. Then there was blinding light as his eyes blinked open.~
Susannah sat in the chair next to his bed that she'd occupied for exactly two hours everyday, watching his face for when he'd wake, nervous excitement making her wring her hands in her lap.
"I don't think it worked Carlisle," Jacob said, hoarsely. "Nothing happened.""It worked," Carlisle said. "It's been several weeks. And there's someone here to see you."
"Hey, love," Susannah said, "How are you feeling?" she asked him.
"Better," Jacob said. "A little sore, but nothing I cant handle. Come here," he tapped the bed next to him, where she had laid before.
"So when can I go home?" Jacob asked Carlisle, who was checking some readings on his monitors and writing them on a chart. "Just another few days," Carlisle told him.
Susannah didn't notice she was crying until a few wisps of hair stuck to her face and she felt moisture on her cheeks as she brushed them away. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.
Jacob looked at her and saw a stray tear on her cheek. "What's wrong?" He asked worriedly, wiping her cheeks with his thumb.
Susannah shook her head and laughed with relief. "Nothing at all," she said, "I really don't know where these tears are coming from. I'm just...so relieved. It's so good to hear your voice again."
"Goodnight Jacob," Carlisle said. "I'll check in in the morning.""Night Carlisle," Jacob said wrapping his arms around Susannah and holding her tight. "So what have you been doing these past few weeks?" He asked her.
"Studying." Susannah admitted sheepishly. "I did the summer assignment. Then, since an essay was part of it, I did it two more times from two different perspectives. Then I've used the internet to take notes in about three different journals as part of an independent study project. I also started looking over some AP Calculus stuff."
"Did you do anything I said you should?" Jacob asked.
"I tried." Susannah said. "Once I went with Sabrina to the movies, and another time I went with Zach to walk in the park. But I don't think I was very good company. I kept worrying, and studying helps me not worry. So when I was with people and therefore couldn't study, I kind of lectured Zach on the basics of Calculus and Sabrina on the history of the 1920's, because the movie we went to see was The Great Gatsby. It didn't really go all that well."
Jacob chuckled. "Biggest... Nerd... Ever," he said, kissing the top of her head with each word.
Susannah glared at him playfully. "I did get to know Sabrina better though." she added. "I've been having the worst nightmares, that usually end in me screaming until Sabrina comes in and shakes me awake. Then she'll talk to me until I fall asleep again, so I've actually gotten to know her pretty well."
"What were you having nightmares about?" Jacob asked.
"All kinds of things." Susannah said. "Adrian coming at me with a knife of ice, Adrian coming at you with a knife of ice, you dying, any combination of the three, sometimes even Alek attacking Sabrina. Sometimes I'm afraid to close my eyes. That's another reason why I studied so much - it made me tired enough to be able to fall asleep."
Jacob rubbed her back lightly. "Why don't you sleep now," he suggested.
Susannah shook her head. "Not while you're still awake." she said.
"Trust me," Jacob said, "I dont plan on being awake much longer; and I'd sleep much better with you sleeping next to me."
"Alright," Susannah relented. And after weeks of poor, interrupted sleep, she was asleep almost as soon as she closed her eyes, her head resting against his shoulder.
Jacob picked up a book off the bedside table and threw it at the door, hard. The swung shut so that no one would come in and give them a hard time about visiting hours, then he settled down beside.
Susannah slept dreamlessly for the first time in weeks.
Jacob had lied, he didn't really need to sleep. Having basically been asleep for the past few weeks it didn't really feel all that necessary. He dozed on and off for a few hours, but mainly he was happy just watching Susannah sleep.
Susannah stretched and woke up a few hours later.
