"I'm glad," Jacob said.

Susannah looked up at him. "Why are your eyes red?" she asked.
"Because you wouldn't wake up," Jacob said, running his fingers through her hair.Rebecca took Zach's hand and headed out to give Jake and Susannah some privacy.
"I still don't understand why they'd be red." Susannah said.
"I was worried that you wouldn't wake up," Jacob said.
"Since when does worry cause red eyes?" Susannah asked.
"When it gives way to tears," Jacob said.
Susannah wrapped her arms around him weakly. "I'm sorry." she said.
"It's not your fault," Jacob said.
Susannah looked at her arms and frowned. Her grip on him wasn't as strong or steady as she remembered it, yet she was using nearly all her strength. She sat up again, slowly, and rose to her feet only to collapse almost instantaneously.
Jacob's arms snapped out and caught her, pulling her onto the bed. "You okay?"
"Something's weird." Susannah said. "My strength. . .it's gone. As if I was in a coma for several months rather than a couple of days."
"Maybe the ice made you weaker already," Jacob suggested. "And being still all this time just made it worse."
"It'll come back I'm sure," Jacob said.
"So...what happened?" Susannah asked. "After, I mean."
"We took you to Christian's house and brought you back," Jacob said.
"I could hear you." Susannah said. "It was strange not to automatically recognize your voice."
"Well we'll just have to make sure you don't forget anymore," Jacob said.
"For one: not unsealing the garage," Jacob said.
"What's wrong with the garage?" Susannah asked.
". . .Oh." Susannah said, glancing nervously in the direction of the garage.
"Don't worry I had Alek put a spell on it to lock it down," Jacob said. "Nothing can get in or out of there."
"Right." Susannah said, but she didn't look all that convinced.
"He also bound her magic," Jacob told her. "She's not getting anywhere near you."
Susannah stood again, very slowly and leaning heavily on the wall next to the bed.
Jacob stood next to her, putting a hand on her waist to steady her.
"Let's go to Christian's. There's something I want to talk to him about." Susannah said.
Jacob lifted her up into his arms. "I'll dri…" he started then sighed. "I locked the car, in the garage, with Adrian. That's just great. I guess I'll run there as wolf and carry you, because there's no way you could walk all rye way there right now."
"Let me walk some of the way," Susannah said, wiggling out of his arms and falling to the floor, then using the bed to pull herself to a standing position.
"I'm not so sure that's a good idea," Jacob said.
"Just a bit." Susannah said, walking a couple of feet, almost her entire weight against the wall. "I'll never get any stronger if I let you carry me."
"But you'll get hurt," Jacob protested.
"No I won't," Susannah said, only halfway across the room, but sweat was already beading on her face and she was breathing heavily.
"Alright, you've walked alittle bit," Jacob said moving to pick her up.
Susannah whimpered in disappointment, but allowed him to pick her up because she honestly didn't think she could go much farther anyway.
Jacob carried her out into the woods and shifted. Then he laid down on the ground to make climbing on to his back easier.
It was a struggle, but after a few minutes Susannah made it onto his back.
Jacob gathered up his clothes between his teeth then padded off slowly through the woods.
Jacob kept a slow pace to lower any risk of Susannah falling.
Jacob paused and glanced at her over his shoulder.
Susannah shook her head to tell him not to worry.
Jacob continued, they were about halfway to Chritian and Rebecca's house.
Susannah's eyes dropped slightly and her grip slackened.
Jacob stopped at turned to look at her again.
Susannah shook her head to clear it and forced herself to remain conscious. "I'm fine." she said.
