Liz M I just finished Haussmann, or the Distinction. The book pretends to be a translation of an obscure French novel written in the 1920s and supposedly printed after the authors death.

The actual author includes a fake dedication to "Y.", a note to the English edition describing the circumstances of the first edition and the "translator's" discovery of the novel, a "reproduction" of the title plate of the first edition, and an afterword discussing the supposed author, Paul Poissel, including photographs of him & the woman he loved (Yvonne).

Does this book qualify for part B?

Liz M Excellent! I know I could have used it to fit another task, but since your task was so fun and creative, I wanted to be sure it's one of the tasks I finish.

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments not sure if anyone has mentioned it already (or if anyone's still looking for books for this task) but Ballad of the Whiskey Robber: A True Story of Bank Heists, Ice Hockey, Transylvanian Pelt Smuggling, Moonlighting Detectives, and Broken Hearts has a "cast of characters" list, several maps, and an appendice listing "where are they now?" type of info. i'm only 73 pages in, but i'm loving it! :)

Sandra (sandra72) | 714 comments Would Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster work for part B of this task?

At the beginning of the book there is a list of all the people involved as well as diagrams, photos and footnotes within the text.
