Wayne McNeill (waynemcneill) | 18 comments Hello! My name is Wayne McNeill and I'm happy to be here. I've been writing and publishing in a small way for ages but my first full collection is coming out later this year. A collection of what? Well, that's the million dollar question! Short lyrical prose pieces? That's as good a description as any I guess. I see some of my friends are here already.

Yzabel Ginsberg (yzabelginsberg) | 262 comments Seriously? I've been in this group for months, and I realize I've never properly introduced myself, only posted in a dozen or threads or so (call that early onset senility). Even though I don't post that much, I still find interesting to be in a place where authors and readers can interact.

So, hello everyone. I'm Yzabel, from France, currently working as a teacher for a living.

I'm mostly a reader, rather than an author (in that I've never published anything, save for a couple of short stories on the web and in a webzine at some point). But I'm definitely trying to get past my Chronical Inability to Focus on Anything to actually finish a story and go the road of self-publishing. Believe it or not, I find the idea of designing my own thing from Beginning to End absolutely delightful.)

At the moment, I'm working on rewriting & editing the first volume of an urban fantasy novel I've had in the works for 3 years, Was , and having fun designing my own covers. It's quite a daunting and demanding task, considering English isn't even my native language. Not to mention that it's not the only world nor set of characters and plots I've got in mind. But all things in due time, right?

Jonathan Parkinson (jaypax) | 7 comments Hi, my name is Jonathan Parkinson. Brand new to the group, and to Goodreads, I am a director of TV commercials in South Africa and Internationally, and have been developing various film projects for several years, always looking for the material for my first movie. That is, until I cam up with my own storyline, and my producer suggested that before thinking about the film, I should write the book. Quite a daunting task, until I started. Then I absolutely loved the process, and it all seemed to flow. Dragon Town is the result, and I published it on Amazon/KDP on the 21st December 2012, my birthday. Quite an auspicious day, and we all survived!
I would be happy to give away 20 copies to those who would like to review my book. I am not sure how this works, as I posted the same comment on the bulletin board, but being new to the group, I am probably repeating myself - sorry!
All the best for 2013

I'm Etta, and I'm a new-ish author with two young adult novels out: The Life and Times of Elizabeth and the Duchess and The Life and Times of the Heir and the Keeper. I enjoy the genre and will probably read any YA Fic...particularly if it's set in school. My favorite series has to be The Clique by Lisi Harrison.

Cheers! ^_^

I'm also the author of two children's books: Shlemiel Crooks , a picture book based on a Yiddish newspaper article I uncovered about the attempted robbery of my great-grandfather’s kosher liquor store in St. Louis in 1919, and Greenhorn , an illustrated children’s novel about a young Holocaust survivor who arrived at a Brooklyn yeshiva in the 1940s with only a small box that he wouldn't let out of his sight.

Weeriyut Unsamrong | 1 comments Hello my name Weeriyut aka Eddie I am 20 years old and live in Thailand. I learned to love books from my step-father (American) and read James Clavell and Axel Alywen when growing up. I want to be a writer but am keeping myself busy translating the many Thai stories nobody who does not read Thai has ever heard about into English so I can post them on the kindle and let anybody interested learn about my country.

I am new at this and trying to promote my first book now available on the kindle. I aquired the right to update, digitize, and re-publish the 'Falcon of Siam' by Axel Alywen. The charators are real and that will fascinate many readers because this is a story that most will never have heard about before. It is the great epic novel of Thailand and the tie in with the never ending battle to find a crossing for the Malayan Penisula without going around Singapore is relevent today as the Dawei project in Myanma is now under construction.

I could use any help you are willing to offer and I will be a good friend. It is only available on kindle for now.

Thank you for time and I hope to hear back from you.
Eddie

Tim (timjohnson) | 7 comments Hey group. As of 2012 I am the author of 12 books! I didn't expect that to happen, but one thing let to another, yada yada...

Anyway, my first book was a children's book called Bosley Sees the world which I published in 8 different translations and it is specifically designed to teach young children new words and phrases in a foreign language.
I publish articles to try to encourage bilingual child rearing at: http://www.theLanguageBear.com

I published a series of non-fiction martial arts books which are adaptations of interviews I have done with martial arts masters from around the world.

My latest book is called "Greatest Lessons from the Martial Arts" and it is a compilation of wisdom from well known martial artists and authors from around the world. It is a full-color coffee table style book.

I also published a book earlier in 2012 which helps to teach blind people to see.

Nice to meet all of you!

Shane O'Neill (shanekponeill) | 21 comments Hello everyone

My name is Shane KP O'Neill and I am the writer of The Dracula Chronicles, a new series that adds a very new dimension to the Dracula legend and which sees a return of the darker, more traditional vampire. The books are quite epic in scope and are categorised as dark, Gothic horrors. However, they are much more than that. Each book is an historical adventure, a romantic tragedy, a tale of paranormal fantasy and romance, with a lot of erotica and dark erotica added to the chilling premise and undertones.

This project has been with me over 20 years. Away from it I love travel, reading, sports, board games, long walks in nature.

As a traveller I have seen much of the world and lived in many countries. My favourite place is New York City and the destinations I long most to see that I haven't would be Rome in Italy and the Balkan countries where my stories are based.

As a reader I love the work of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Herbert, Anne Rice, Carlos Ruis Zafon, Jeffrey Archer and James Patterson.

The sports I love would be football, cricket, boxing, rugby union and American football. I love playing board games with the family, though I played scrabble internationally for a few years.

Though I am originally from Ireland, these days I live with my wife and family in Norway, the perfect place to be at one with nature in what has to be the most beautiful country of the very many I have seen.

I look forward to meeting and to getting to know many of you over time. I hope this gives you some idea of who I am. Best wishes.

Shane

Kristine Pierce (kristinepierce) | 10 comments Aloha everyone!

Kristine Pierce here. :)

I am a stay at home mom of 2 toddlers (3 1/2 year old boy and 1 year old girl) and wife living on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. I finally found my true and long overdue calling - become a published author. As a graphic designer and visual artist (oil and acrylic on canvas), I also make sure I design my own book covers.

I have been a home maker and stay-at-home mommy and wifey for close to 5 years now. And life has never been better for me! I just love working from home even if I have to balance among the demands of motherhood, being a wife and writing my books. I am definitely taking control of my life, love, dreams and goals…all in the comfort of my home and family.

I love playing with my two babies, gadgets, trying out different cuisines, traveling, and of course - reading and writing books in the contemporary romance, paranormal romance genres.

I look forward to interacting with all of you!

Aloha!

Elisa Bonnin | 4 comments Hi everyone! Nice to meet all of you!

I'm Elisa, a first time author, a long-time reader, and a would-be scientist (if I can actually give that last push I need to graduate in May). My first novel, Arbiter, was published last December, and is sorely in need of readers and reviewers.

I'm always looking for more books to read, although I prefer reading paper books to ebooks (and yet my book is only in ebook...I know, irony), and I'm currently struggling to put together a senior thesis and another novel at the same time (unfortunately they can't be the same thing. Oh well...)

Wade Steele (wadealansteele) | 9 comments Hey, everyone! My name is Wade Alan Steele and I am the author of Plague Seed: Book One of the Plague Fall Trilogy and A Sudden Dominance of Shadows: A collection of short stories. I have been carving away at Plague Seed since 1995, but as a former actor, director, and roleplaying geek, I have always loved storytelling.

I started writing Plague Seed because I thought I was wasting too much time on the subway. I bought a Mead Composition Book and a pack of 'ya did good' Looney Tune stickers and set to writing. A year later, Plague Seed filled 6 comp books. Since then I've been hammering it into shape and learning the craft along the way from some very skilled mentors.

I have self-published both books and love that I am able to build it from comp book, to diskette, to hard drive, to flash drive, to Kindle on my own steam. Would I love to be picked up by a publisher or agent? Hells yeah, but most important to me--my story is out there ready to be loved or hated by anyone who wants to plop down their hard earned cash.

Thanks for letting me aboard this ship! Hope you find me worthy company.

Hello everyone. My name is Christine Maria Jahn. I am a newly indie published author. My debut novel is called SAVING ALESSANDRA. It can be found on Amazon in both print and kindle formats and will soon be available through other book retailers. It is a Regency period novel and is about a young woman who suffers abuse during her arranged marriage. I have received great feedback and even received a 5 star review on Amazon. So needless to say, I jumped for joy. I have posted an excerpt here on goodreads. A longer excerpt can be found on Amazon.

I have always loved reading historical fiction, especially Regencies. When I am not working I am writing. I have not had much time to read lately, though, as I have a bit of a hectic schedule at the moment due to writing two sequels to SAVING ALESSANDRA.

I am happy to be a part of goodreads and hope to get to know other readers and writers in this group.

Blessings to all,
Christine Maria Jahn

David Weiner | 13 comments Hello again, folks. I'm David Weiner. I live and practice law in Dallas, Texas.

My first novel, THE NAME OF HIS FATHERS, is the story of a young Jewish man, Eric Jacobs, who moves toward Orthodox belief and practice while at college. Eric's father, Alan, is a no-nonsense lawyer who fears that this newfound religious outlook threatens Eric's chances for mainstream success. We are all familiar with THE CHOSEN, Chaim Potok's novel about a young Hasidic man who yearns to make his way in the secular world. THE NAME OF HIS FATHERS explores the reverse phenomenon.

The book has autobiographical elements, but more than that, it is the true story of the path I did not take.

I hope you'll take a peek. Thanks.

I'm not exactly new here as I'd registered back in June of '12 but I'm just now activating my account. I'm Robert Crawford and if you've been reading progressive/liberal political blogs over the last eight years, you may have heard of me or even read me through my handle Jurassicpork and my blog, Welcome Back to Pottersville.

I'm a formerly agented novelist who's been forced by necessity to strike out in independent publishing. My first two Create Space titles are American Zen, an LGBT-themed rock and roll novel and The Toy Cop, a high concept hostage negotiation thriller.

I'd sure appreciate people buying either or both of these titles and to start accumulating some reviews on Goodreads. For reasons I won't go into now, I don't do Facebook and aside from Create Space, I'm trying to avoid Amazon. So it'll be doubly daunting to start up a marketing platform without those two very large planks.

Remember, I was agented back in 1996 and I've only gotten 1000% better as a novelist since then so rest assured I'm the real deal.

Later.
