Allan Ashinoff (allanjashinoff) | 16 comments Hello everyone,

Although I'm not entirely new to Goodreads, this is my first attempt at an introduction.

My name is Allan J. Ashinoff and I am the author of Shadows Live Under Seashells, my first novel. Prior to storytelling I wrote political commentary and did a little online talk radio. As far back as I could rembmer I've always been reading and writing to some degree or another. I think I started writing our RPG games for my siblings and ended up writing poetry and lyrics in college to meet girls (being honest).

Currently, I'm working on a collection of stories that will serve as a prequel to my current novel and a second sci-fi book thats totally unrelated. I deeply envy those authors who can push out two or more quality stories in one years time.

Lastly, I am the current newsletter editor for the Arizona Authors Association.

I welcome friend requests and look forward to getting acquainted with Authors as well as Readers.

message 3785: by Mike (new)

Mike | 9 comments Hi,

Not sure I'm in the right place since I'm not an author but I am an avid reader. I am particularly fond of stories that fit into the crime/detective/mystery category (categories?). I also read a lot of non-fiction.

I'm a big fan of Elmore Leonard, Donald E. Westlake and Lawrence Block. I like oddball, eccentric, weird characters who just don't seem to fit in with the world at large. Humor is always a plus as long as it fits the overall story.

I don't care much for young adult stories, Harlequin-type romance, or Christian/religious books. Also not much for anything involving vampires, werewolves, zombies, mummies, wizards, elves, etc. unless you've really, really, really, really, re-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-eallly got a unique take on it.

I've only belonged to Goodreads for a few months, I'm slowly trying to add reviews to the various books I've read, (take a look at what I've reviewed so far and see what you think) I won't guarantee I'll like what you've written but I will promise to give it as fair a review as I can.

Hi
I'm new to all this but looking forward to joining the community. I am the author of seven ebooks and currently working on my eighth, which is a second one in a series that I started. Included in my work is a trilogy which I plan to expand with another two. They are listed on Kindle, Nook and Apple i-tunes. I enjoy writing and relatively happy with its progress.
I am a dedicated reader myself, and read a multitude of genre, enjoying SF, fantasy, thrillers, mysteries, adventure, and a wealth of historical, and informative non-fiction.
Cheers Kerry

Micheal Rivers | 2 comments Hello,
My name is Micheal Rivers, I'm a goodreads author who is a hybrid. I have 3 self published and 1 traditionally published books. My publisher is releasing my 2nd with them on Nov. 28th. Paranormal thrillers and horror are my specialty. I have written one subtle paranormal romance about aging and relationships. Next year, I'm looking to cross over to action and adventure genres.

My interest in the paranormal stems from over 30 years of traveling and investigating haunted locations. I am the founder and lead investigator for the Smokey Mountain Ghost Trackers.

I like to read when I am not writing. Lately, my writing has taken presidence as I am working on 3 novels. One of them is the sequel to The Black Witch, in which readers have been requesting.

Can you tell me what sort of response/success you have had with your children's book. I write for that age range too, and am thinking if I don't get an agent or publisher then will self-pub as an ebook.

Rob Godfrey | 17 comments Hello to all!

I live in Otley, Wharfedale where I walk, garden and write. I walk most days with handsome Charlie (he's a Springer Spaniel):

And through him (and a lucky break) I got to write this book:

Yorkshire Dales: A Dog Walker's Guide

On those walks I saw lots of these rock carvings:

And all the above inspired me to write this:

Year of the Celt: Imbolc

I love gardening (the edible kind), so much so that I run this free site for vegetable growers: http://www.thevga.co.uk.
My other pleasures are walking, reading and cooking.

Look forward to meeting you all.

Rob

J. II (jjunior2) | 1 comments Good day! I've been writing for about 2 years now, and was fortunate to get my first book published by Tate Publishing (released August 28). I like all types of writing, even sports blogging, but personally write inspirational/ motivational type writing. Because of my experience with psoriasis, that will be my new focus going forward and is the basis for which I wrote my book - "Weathering The Storm". I always like to hear from people going through similar struggles, so be sure to contact me! Or just contact me to say hello.

For anyone who may be interested, I'm having my first giveaway right now - be sure to enter.
