Charlie Kravetz (charlie-tca) | 150 comments I am a reader. I have started writing reviews of the books I read this year. I find it is very difficult to write an honest review. I am not an author, but I did dream about writing a book for a few years. I do read on an Amazon Kindle now, because I can grow fonts as big as I need to read them. It is so much nicer to read the words myself than to have to resort to audio books again.

I enjoy almost all books. I do tend to shy away from poetry and plays, though.

Nice message, Charlie. I've been thinking about an eBook reader for the same reason. At the moment I resort to a page magnifier - still I guess it comes to all of us in the end. Happy reading!

I'm Lee from the UK, and still trying to work my way around Goodreads - so much on here to check out!

I am generally a reader of fantasy and science fiction, and also a writer of fantasy stories.

Siggy Buckley (goodreadscomsiggy) | 29 comments Hi everybody, my appearances here are sporadic. Never had the time to figure out exactly what to do here. Now I'm trying again: I'm Siggy, an avid reader and self-published author of Next Time Lucky: Lessons of a Matchmaker. It's a somewhat raunchy book of a divorcee from Ireland searching for Mr. Right second time round; what happened to her when she went online and only found Mr. Right Nows. I wrote from my own experience and hope that the book is some help (and entertainment) to all of you who have gone thru a similar situation. I hope to make some friends here now...

Rowena Portch (rowena_portch) | 2 comments Hi Everyone. I'm the author of the Spirian Saga (5 books so far). Book 6 of this saga will be released in November. The series originally started as an autobiography called, "This is Not the Life I Ordered!" After some enlightening feedback from my family, I decided to turn it into a romantic fantasy. According to my husband, my life is mostly fantasy. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Anyway, Spirians are Angels who live among humans. They are gifted, strong, and can have fiery tempers. These are non-graphical romance with no foul language so they are appropriate for a general audience.

Like myself, the main character is blind, middle-aged, and has a bit of a gypsy soul (barefoot and carefree). I welcome you all into my realm where anything is possible. http://Rowena-Portch.com

David Alderman | 6 comments Hi everyone! My name is David N. Alderman, and I am a self-published author. I do write young adult scifi/fantasy, but at the moment I am focusing on my Black Earth series which is what I would call edgy Christian speculative fiction - in general terms, science fiction/fantasy/horror/supernatural fiction with Christian themes and edgy content, such as sexual themes, language, drug use, and violence. It's not your typical Christian fiction, but there is an audience out there (and authors) for it.

My work is listed on Goodreads, but you can also check out my website -
http://www.davidnalderman.com, and follow my blog at
http://www.davidnalderman.blogspot.com. I've also just launched the beginnings of a resource community based around the authors and readers of this type of fiction at The Crossover Alliance.

Great to meet you all!

Ian Stewart (goodreadercomIanStewart) | 41 comments I am a member of the Historical Fictionistas group, having just recently published an Asian historical saga, Nanyang,as both an ebook and paperback http://www.amazon.com/Nanyang-Mr-Ian-... and the Aussie Readers group, since I am Australian (though born in New Zealand) but thought I should also say hello here as I have written a number of books of different genres. I am in the process of publishing some of my early fiction works as Kindle ebooks so they will be more easily available. Several are out of print and hard to find. You can see how I am progressing by visiting my GR site. I have just published a new book, the Unintentional Jihadi, as an ebook http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0087EHI7O.
It’s great to have these groups as a meeting place for readers and authors.

Erik Martin | 2 comments Hello, My name is Erik Martin. Last year I published my first novel, Dexter of Pozzelby, a YA fantasy. Later this fall, I anticipate the release of my next novel. Additionally, I have placed some of my short works, and self-published some others, mostly available for free on Smashwords (Amazon hasn't caught on yet that they are free.)

About me personally, I originally hail from Cleveland, OH, have lived in North Carolina, and currently reside in San Diego, CA. For day jobs, my favorite was owning a bookstore. It left me broke, but I had a great time doing it for about 2 years from early 2000 to late 2001. (In A Bind Books in Lakewood, OH) I've also delivered singing telegrams, worked as a police officer, a social worker, been on Dead tour, protected a US president twice, and I enjoy running lately.

Rob Wood | 7 comments Howdy Vincent and all. I'm Rob Wood and I hail from Texas. Being new to this game I look forward to communicating with and hopfully learning from the many folks participating on this site.

When I look in the mirror I see a storyteller not an author but I recently published my first group of stories "The 5 Greatest Spankings of All Time". The book is an unpretentious piece of history about my brothers and I growing up on a small ranch in the 1950’s. It’s not spurs and saddles but a more relaxed and humorous glimpse of Americana and ranch life at a time long gone by. The book is classified as historical fiction due only to the fact a few names have been changed to protect the guilty.

Thus far writing has proven to be very rewarding. When I hear from folks who have read "Spankings" and find that it actually made them LOL and brought a little sunshine into their hearts it's better than $$$. I know many of today's readers weren't around in the fifties but I believe a good book takes you away from the crazy world we live in today. At the end of the day that’s why so many folks love to read… to take them to another place and away from their everyday lives. Indie or major publishing house, if it does that you're a successful writer.

I recently was notified that "Spankings" was selected to receive the 2011-2012 Texas Association of Authors Book Awards - First Place Short Story Fiction. I was very flattered and look forward to the Awards Banquet in October in Austin during the Texas Book Festival.

My decision to actually sit down at my keyboard and tell a few stories is one I will never regret. I would encourage anyone sitting on the fence contemplating "should I take the leap?" to do it. If just one person has the inclination and takes the time to read your work... it was worth it.

message 3539: by Lina (new)

Lina (ellerochelle) | 5 comments Hey there, everyone! I'm Lina! I reside in the Spring Break Capitol of the World (the fancy way of saying Panama City, FL) and I have been writing for several years now, however I am very notorious for starting a great story and then never getting around to finishing it. ;) I have finished one book, Hold On, that my friend and fellow author, Rob Grable (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...) said left him speechless.

While I still feel that Hold On needs some more tweaking, since I wrote it back in high school, I am here on GoodReads with the new series I am writing, The Hearts of Archirind. Currently, I am nearing the end of writing the first book, Fighting Hearts and I have two more in the works.
My series is mostly geared toward Young Adult age, but it is really suitable for anyone, as there is no language or anything inappropriate. I wouldn't really describe it as historical because I completely made up all the names and I wouldn't describe it as fantasy because there's nothing fantastical (is that even a word??) about it. It's about a princess who falls in love with her brother's squire (but with a few more twists and turns thrown in there, of course ;D).

More about me:
I'm an avid reader and a hopeless romantic they definitely shows in my writing.
My favorite author is Robin Jones Gunn. I've read almost all of her books. Almost. I also really like Chelsea Fine and have myself convinced that I'm awesome just because Chelsea is my friend on Facebook (even though she "friends" all her readers...).
I have EXTREME Sidrodromophobia (fear of trains) that I've had since I was about 3 or 4 that has grown worse over the years (no clue why).
I love theatre! My first semester of college I was a theatre major but I switched to Early Childhood Education to become a preschool teacher. :)
I love photography and photographed and designed my own book cover. :)
I have an acute obsession with parentheses, smileys, and correct spelling and grammar. I know, I have issues.

I hope to make some new friends on GoodReads and get my book out there so I can get some feedback. I can't get all my critiques from friends and family! I never can tell if they're just being nice or not....

Well, I've written you a novella to introduce myself but I hope that won't keep you from checking me out (besides, I still have 9,529 characters left! ;D)!!
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/11...

Peace, love, and tacos! ♥♥♥ ^.^
