Timothy Pilgrim (oldgeezer) | 140 comments Hi Donna,
there are more nuts on this site than an entire troop of monkeys could eat in a week. If there is an opinion on anything someone will have it! We even talk about books from time to time. Some really good ones come to light which would otherwise have been overlooked. Anyway, enjoy.
All the best, Paul Rix [oldgeezer:]

K.G. Cummings (kgcummings) | 9 comments Hello! My name is Kathy. I write using the name kgcummings. Lazy is why I run it together like that! I'm the author of six novels based in the Vietnam/Hippie era. The story is written from the home front rather than the battle field. It's more about relationships during that era, and how the war affected them.

I live in Florida, where the winter has been way too cold for me this year. I "work" actually play with my two year old grand nephew a few days a week, and spend the rest of my time doing pretty much whatever else I like.

In the writer's corner of my life, I have two "jobs" lined up penning biographies for two ladies. One was a teenager during the early Nazi years in Germany. The other is a woman that was left paralized after a traffic accident when she was in her early thirties. Neither woman is "handicapped" and their stories are highly inspirational and motivating.

I've enjoyed reading posts in this group, and hope to make more new friends here.

Lisa M | 76 comments Hello all,

My name is Lisa and I'm somewhat new to Goodreads. I'm married and a mother of two sweet girls. I love to read and I write when I find time (which can be hard). I mainly read and write Urban Fantasy, but I love traditional Fantasy as well and Sci-Fi when the mood strikes. I'm currently working on a UF book but there's still a long way to go.

I'm excited to see what my fellow Goodreads authors have out and sharing myself, if I get to that point! :)

message 286: by Breanna (new)

Breanna | 6 comments Hello all. My name is Breanna and I am an aspiring young adult science fiction and fantasy author as well as an aspiring actress (on the stage of course). I love the theater and I also love to spend way too much time making youtube videos. I have a huge folder of started books and I finally settled down to work on just one a couple of months ago. Now that I am about to graduate college, I will finally have time to sit down and actually finish it (unless I get into the Denver Center Theater company... then I'll have to balance to two activities). I will have a pen name once I do actually publish so I will make that my user name the minute my book gets accepted by someone :D I love to read so I hope I can find a lot of good material on here to delve into. I am especially fond of young adult fantasy (like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter). I also talk a lot so I'll just stop there :)

I'm also an English major, so I completely swear off "classics" for now! lol I have two novels that I've published so far, both science fiction. I've been writing off and on since I was around 10 years old. I had a short story that won 3rd in a contest when I was in high school through my Creative Writing class.

Dune Elliot (duneelliot) | 8 comments Hi there,
I am Dune Elliot, I am both an author and reader of mythical/ epic fantasy. It is a genre that I have loved ever since my first experience with 'The Hobbit' when I was younger.
As I write, I want to improve the genre of fantasy and build characters and worlds that are rich in their detail, complex in their reality and easy to fall in love with.

Steven (tbones) | 408 comments Hey ya know I read this awesome idea in a Cemetery Dance mag. It was in an interview with Neil Gaiman they did and he talked about Stephen King and Lemony Snicket doing this thing where they had people placing bids for spots in their books. Like you bid and could pay to have your name and a character based on you put into one of their stories somewhere. The money from the bids went to some book or reading thing for schools. I thought this would be a great idea to share with all the authors on Goodreads and I hope someone starts one of these again.

message 297: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, Steven, that is really interesting. Of course, you have to a name to pull it off, but interesting. :)

message 298: by Steven (new)

Steven (tbones) | 408 comments I don't know I have read some of the stuff from some of the "not so big named" authors on here and I would definitely bid at least 20 bucks to be put into one of their stories...that would be an awesome experience...and heck it would be an "Unfortunate Event" for my character if I were stuck in Derry Maine with the It clown or burying my wife in the Pet Semetery, as it is in real life I work in a supermarket so my most exciting thing that could happen to me would be for a strange fog to roll in off the Columbian with a nasty government created surprise :o)

message 299: by [deleted user] (new)

lol. I could see where that would be "extraordinary". It's something to keep in mind for the future since it is a very interesting concept.

Denise Roper | 2 comments My name is Denise Roper, and I am the author of The Lord of the Hallows: Christian Symbolism and Themes in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter, which is available at www.outskirtspress.com/thelordoftheha....

I have given several lecture presentations at science fiction and fantasy conventions on the "deeper meaning" of the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Narnia series. The Lord of the Hallows is the result of all of the research that I've done for these presentations, and so far it has been very well-received by the fandom.

You can read more about it at http://phoenixweasley.wordpress.com.
