Introduce Yourself!
Hi,I'm Kate, an Australian author and avid reader. I'm fairly new here and still feeling my way around. My books are 'An Independent Woman' and 'A Liberated Woman'the first two books in the Redwoods series, which is historical romance/famly saga set in the late nineteenth century and switches between England and Australia. 'Inheritance' is a romance/mystery/adventure set in far north Queensland and 'Reflections' is short stories. 'Independent Woman','Inheritance' and 'Reflections' are available as ebooks on Kindle and Smashwords, and all as paperbacks.I have seen that you can 'like'other authors, that sounds good. How does it work?
I am a cover designer & Illustrator. I have also started a book review blog at http://MoonShineArtSpot.blogspot.com where I review books for authors if they want to provide the book.samples of my illustrations are at facebook.com/MoonShineArtSpot

I list free ebooks I find via other sources on twitter & my blog weekly.
I am especially interested in children's books or YA, and cover design & illustration for both, or just about anything as far as cover art goes.

Of course, you realize this means war! Help me win a bet with my husband. I've got a prime rib dinner in the wings if I win. And well, we all know what my husband wins if I don't; )I'm trying to reach 1,000 hits and 10 new flags on my website http://bloodandmatzah.com and 25 legitimate posts on my blog http://blogandmatzah.com by May 31.
Mama needs a fancy dinner at The Outback! Thanks in advance for your support. Send me a link to your site/blog and I'll return the favor. Happy reading/writing to all my new indie author friends!
I am Jon McDonald, author of "Divas Never Flinch" a humorous book about the Santa Fe social scene. I have been in Santa Fe 24 years, and only started writing at the age of 68 after my job was victum of the Great Recession. This is my first published book, but I have since written 4 others. As you might guess I love to write, but also enjoy a good read. I came to prose writing after having written a number of plays and screenplays - never thinking I would venture into fiction. But it suits me well and am delighted to join this wonderful group here.
Hi, reintroducing myself as my book just hit amazon in trade paperback.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1936...

Hello all, I'm Maya. I'm a reader, a reviewer and a writer. My urban fantasy novel Entanglement will be out very shortly. I'm all over the web, but principally at my blog:http://mayapanika.wordpress.com/

Hi all,My name is Rory Cantwell and I am the author of The Great Hollywood Double Hustle.
My book is a comedy crime caper story about a gang of film-star look-alikes who attempt to con a Hollywood producer into financing their bogus blockbuster movie.
A professional film-maker, animator and editor by trade, I was inspired to write The Great Hollywood Double Hustle when one fateful night, I accidentally stumbled across a professional look-alike website and found myself crying with laughter as I scanned the good, the bad and the totally delusional celebrity doubles smiling up at me.
Some were genuinely remarkable double's, capable of convincing anyone that they were the legitimate real star but in honesty, the funniest were the ones looked so unlike their supposed famous duplicate, that I was very much worried for their obviously 'fame-obsessed' and visually impaired sanity. Needless to say, once I finished laughing, I started writing.
I hope you enjoy my book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Check out the funny Book-trailer I made.
I think I got a little carried away with it but lots have praised it! ;0)
I would love to know what you guys think.

As for me, I write historical mystery fiction and have a book coming out in December called The Sign of the Weeping Virgin. It's set in Renaissance Florence. I'll check out Ratcatcher. Great title, by the way.

Hello everyone, I'm J.C. Henderson, author of the novel "Halfway To Nowhere", available on Amazon.com. I have a page on Facebook that I use for everything. I write mostly mainstream fiction (or literary, if I want to sound all academic-like), mostly due to my stories aren't very cemented in any particular genre.
I tend to read a bit of everything though, mostly so I can learn new things, but also cause i enjoy reading. Right now I'm reading YA Fiction for the first time and having an enjoyable time with it. I hope I get to hear from some of you soon!

Sascha,Hey, Marathon Man from Webster, TX: "Female Dominance is a powerful thing but does not capture the market share in erotica or erotic romance. It never has and sadly it never will." - Sascha on lackluster sales of Her Male Slave.
You could, of course, be right, Sascha. Then again, you could be wrong -- unless the "dominance" you're talking about is literally BDSM and that of a dominatrix (sp?) -- and, since I know next to nothing about any of that, I'll plead non contendere.
As for dominating females, however, I don't really think gender is the issue. I believe power is. And since power often derives from income (or at least from wealth, possibly inherited), the question of who controls in a "loving" relationship is not a question of gender.
As they say in the big, bad biz world: "Just follow the money."

Free book - Kindle till midnighthttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Universe-One-...
In the 53rd Century the human race pulls a genius from the past to save their society. But have they got the right man?
History Teacher Jon Ransom is dragged into the future by what he believes is the last vestiges of the human race. Mistaken for a genius scientist brought forward in time to save the interstellar city-ship liberty from possible collapse and disaster. Centuries of life spans increasing have left the human race decadent and without the skills to save themselves. Shown the wonders of the massive interplanetary craft he finds that he is not the only one who has been brought forward. Other figures from across time have been kidnapped and they soon learn that not all is as it seems and they may have traveled more than just through time. The captured men discover that they have not only been brought forward in time; they have also been pulled into a different version of their Universe. Rather than the scientific genius they expected, they are from alternate realities where Philosophers become Army Colonels and scientific genius fails to make its mark. Together they must try to find a way to work together and to find a way home and learn the truth of Universe One.
Hi All! I'm Trisha Ventker, author of Internet Dates From Hell.Internet Dates from Hell is not only a guide; it is also a six-year journey through my dating life as a single kindergarten teacher who relocated from the suburbs to New York City to find my soul mate. I share my frightening but true encounters in the wonderful world of online dating.
Along the path, I endure hundreds of first dates. Encounters include a conspiracy theorist from the United Kingdom, a religious fanatic from Texas, a sadomasochistic psychiatrist, and even a pre-op transsexual, to name a few.
I enjoy meeting new people here and look forward to talking with you!
I popped into this thread to introduce myself, but I find myself feeling intimidated by all you published authors. *whimper*Anway, I'm Heather, and I live in a suburb of Chicago. I've been a voracious reader all my life, but I've just recently located the courage to start writing. Like I JUST started. I have stories in my head all the time, but writing them down scares the bejeezus out of me. We're talking heebies AND jeebies. But I'm trying to get over it. Right now, I'm writing a few little romance stories -- that's what I tend to read most often, and I'm going with comfort until I get my feet wet.
I joined Goodreads to spend time with other people like me: unabashed bibliofiles. I joined this group for exposure to other writers, to try to soak up as much as I can about the craft.
I look forward to sharing with all of you!
Hi, Heather! (and everyone else I've missed saying hello to)It's good to meet you.
You're in a great place to find authors willing to help out new writers. Check out some of Michael_J_Sullivan's very helpful postings, for a start.
Hollo everybody.I am not a published writer...but I hope to be in the not-so-distant future. I'm a Caribbean raised Canadian and I love cats. I've had around 20 of them in my life.
I've been writing since I could read, but somehow high school ruined my ability to think straight >_> Although that's probably just me placing blame for my procrastinating, self-conscious ways...
I made a blog... in the hopes that it will help me be less shy with writing.
Dimah,"I've been writing since I could read, but somehow high school ruined my ability to think straight."
That's okay. I think the same thing happened to Rita Mae Brown. She and I went to the same high school (a few years apart), and she's been writing about cats for the past 30 years.
'Course, she once wrote a thing titled RUBY FRUIT JUNGLE, which put her on the "literary" map. Otherwise, you would never have heard of her.

Hi Everyone! I write under the name Rebekah Burton. I am from Texas, but have had the opportunity to live in New Jersey, Maryland, and Germany. I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. I've recently published my first novel "Hope for Joy" on Amazon and am working on my second, third and hopefully more books coming soon. I primarily write Christian women's fiction, so if you are interested, find out more at:

Hi folks! I'm new here and looking forward to hanging out a bit. But if it bothers anyone, I'll try to stop anything hanging out that shouldn't. I have been known to have issues in that department...I'm a keen reader of travel books, especially the comedy variety, and am trying to be a travel writer as well. Sigh! Aren't we all?
I'm 33, an English bloke, currently living in Perth,Australia, where I emigrated in December after spending the last 7 years bouncing around he world. (That's a lot more painful than it sounds, as most of the world is quite hard to land on).
Oh, and I'm married to a stunning Aussie girl called (imaginatively enough) Roo. She has hair dyed in all colours of the rainbow... and consequently is having fun finding work... :0)
I love to read - far more than I love to write! - and I love to travel. Things I hate: stopping reading, stopping travelling, stopping drinking - and getting out of bed. Especially if I'm reading and/or drinking in there...
I'm also absurd. Well, if that's grammatically possible?
Okay. I'm an idiot. That'll do :0)
I blog occasionally about the stupid things I do, and the crazy crap that life seems to keep on serving up to me, at Adventure Without End (.com).
Looking forward to meeting you all!

I do write books. Used to write academic books, but since retirement from the University of Oklahoma, I have returned to my first love--fiction. Have written two novels, translated one of them into German, a travelogue, and am now working on something called "You're Not From Around Here, Are you?" Reminiscences. I live with my husband, Richard Beck, who teaches Ancient Greek at the University of Oklahoma, one dog, and five cats in Norman, OK. I have three children, and we have six grandchildren. Life is rolling along.

Hi, I'm Laura Seaborn. I write as C.A. Rose and Y.A. Rose. Just published some short stories as C.A. Rose in The Dallas Writers Journal and under my own name in The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. Some title, huh?I'd like to talk about dragons.
Thanks Miles!Hi all!
So, dragons, eh...?
Gotta love dragons... or at least treat 'em politely :0)
My favourite in recent times is from Katherine Kerr's Deverry series, she has a particularly temperamental beast as star of the last chunk of the series...
TWISTED ROOTSHi Everyone. I'm Shelly Wright and I've wanted to write a novel since I was eleven. So I'm 40 and my first novel releases June 19. My mom always said I was a late bloomer.
I write Christian Fiction mostly, but have written some short stories along with some local paper articles. I also belong to a writing critique group which has been amazing and the reason I finally finished a project. Now you can't stop me. Glad to read through the post and see the talented people in this group.

Okay... You are amazing! I don't know whether you eventually met your SOUL MATE, but you certainly gained life experiences as a writer. I doubt that most of us would like to subject themselves to your technique, but I suspect we would enjoy reading your writing and living vicariously through you.
I predict that, if you can turn your dating experiences into a book... as you have... you will go far as an author. :)

My name is Peter Mayeux. I was born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana. That’s about 18 miles from the Tabasco factory on Avery Island. The next time you handle a bottle of Tabasco, examine the diamond-shaped label to find Avery Island on the label. Both of my parents spoke Cajun French, especially when they did not want the children to know what they were discussing. My sister in Port Allen kept me stocked with all the necessary herbs and spices needed to prepare delicious Cajun food. I consume as much Cajun cooking as I can with each visit to Louisiana.
My undergraduate degree is from what is now The University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
I completed graduate work at The University of Iowa. The emphasis in college was on mass media, especially broadcasting.
My professional career was spent in professional commercial and non-commercial radio and television stations. I worked as an announcer, news reporter and anchor, news director, radio program director, and station manager. I used that background and my graduate degree to teach college-level classes and workshops for about 40 years. My teaching and research/production centered on writing for the mass media and media history.
I published three textbooks focused on mass media writing. One of the books was translated into the Korean language; unfortunately, I do not speak or write Korean. My academic articles were written for media encyclopedias, dictionaries, and journals. Many were short biographies. Others were short pieces on media issues and historical events. I produced a CD on Nebraska media history. In the last few years I have had articles published in general circulation magazines, including one article on hydroponic farming techniques, and a two-part article on rural health care.
Since retiring in 2005, I have spent time writing, volunteering, and traveling. My volunteer work includes: KVSS/Spirit Catholic Radio, a statewide network (working as a board member); Disabled American Veterans (transporting veterans to and from a VA clinic); Nebraska Library Commission (reading for the blind); City Impact (tutoring inner city children to improve their reading skills); and Nebraska Community Blood Bank (donating platelets).

Hi all,I saw a post here somewhere titled 'has science fiction lost its mojo'.
Maybe. I have no idea, as sad to say especially on a site like this one, I'm not much of a reader.
I have heard from quite a few people that all of these 'aliens come to earth' books and movies are about invasion, they're all the same. I think they're right, they do seem quite similar. An alien species comes to earth with conquest in mind, they are considerate enough to engineer into their equipment or plan a single point of failure that will enable a gutsy band of individuals to defeat them.
I thought 'I wonder if I could write a novel about alien visitation that would be a bit different, how hard could it be'. So I did, it's got a couple of 4 star reviews and one 5 star review on Amazon.com. So far so good. As to whether or not it counts as science fiction with mojo, thats up to you.
If you fancy having a look at it here's the link. I hope you enjoy it.
