Introduce Yourself!
Hello everyone, my name is Nathali, I live in Germany and have just published my first book, a collection of horror stories set in the time of the Luddite revolts: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5... It is in German, but since I am a translator I am thinking of translating it into English in the near future. Have a great day, everyone!
Hi!I'm Nora Murray and I just published my first novel, "Kingdom Come" through Moonshine Cove Publishing. Publishing a book is a dream come true, and I am so excited to be a part of this group and learn from you all.
Leam HallI write Coming of Age YA SciFi with a Christian Warrior Ethos.
That's the "official" term, anyway. The reality is that an over-confident backworld tomboy wanted to be special; to be somebody. I wrote her story. She was a bit miffed that I included the things her parents weren't supposed to know about, but she got over it when she found out the truth about her semi-weird family. Took her a while to get used to the really weird other family on another planet. It took her even longer to figure out the Mad Knitter, but that was a good story.
Err...I've been directed to say that "Al is a very good girl at heart, just misunderstood. Loving, kind, and always dutifully obeys." I'm specifically forbidden mentioning her blowing purple snot out of her nose or her feelings about the best girl on the planet now smiling-when-they-are-together friends with Wilbur. You know, the guy who liked Al. Everybody on the planet, except Al, was quite aware of it. Even Al's dad knew...
Al eventually makes a good choice or two. And that's before the end of the first book, "Agent". Which, honestly, surprised me. Surprised Al, too.
I'd love to go on and tell about how Al grew up to be a wonderful princess-y do-gooder, where her life was blessed and she lived "happily ever after". Al becomes an awesome non-princess woman as she suffers trauma, struggles with PTSD, and sacrifices her mental health to save her friends. Her leadership inspires others to greatness.
In the end, broken and dying, she accepts who she really is. I'm honored to know her.

Started out as a hobby but now it gets serious XD.Looking for friends and readers! Tolkien is my core inspiration for my fantasy books but I made my own world, lore, and mythology to prevent from tapping into other fandoms and truly create a unique experience.
I'm also weird in a good way. :D

Hi Andy. Have you published your first book yet, or are you still in the process of writing it? Fantasy fiction must be terrific fun to write, sice you can break the reality rules, as long as it makes sense in the plot.
Hi everyone. Just found this group, and glad to know that all the threads aren't from 2009, after all ( I was looking at them in "Oldest to Newest" Sort Order - duh). I'm a new author, and love the idea of it so much that I add the word "author" at the end of most of my sentences, when I talk about me ( and I do a LOT, since Im currently promoting my comedy romance thriller, "The Q Affaire", which has just come out on Amazon, on various platforms. I've even worked some of the main characters, Q and myself into a series of blog posts. It's amazing how much fun you can get out of your book's characters. They have a life of their own, even outside the book. The Q Affaire
Congrats on your second book being published. I see the first one has a strong market for Shotokan karate practicioners (as a black belt Taekwondo myself, I can see why they would be really keen on getting their hands on your book about your instructor). Im wondering whether the same people who purchased your first book will buy the second, if they like your writing style, or would you have to market the second for an entirely different audience now?
The Austin Experiment is my first novella, released in late 2020. It is the first book in a trilogy. Please check it out at this link!https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...
Newly appointed U.S. Naval officer, Ensign Austin, is about to stumble onto the most powerful capability the world has ever known.
The submarine he has been assigned to is secretly equipped with an experimental government time travel device that the crew will soon be testing, and those in control will stop at nothing to ensure the test goes as planned. If successful, they will have the power to transform our world or destroy it completely.
Things go awry when he is contaminated with a drop of the device’s fuel source, mentally connecting him to the time machine and launching him directly into the heart of the experiment.
Will Ensign Austin be able to gain control of the device and his newfound power in time to save the world?
D. J. Austin is a career U.S. Navy sailor, joining the military soon after graduating from high school. He began his career as an enlisted sailor, serving onboard aircraft carriers in the late 1990s. In the middle of his career, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, which led to a commission in the US Navy. He continued serving as a commissioned officer onboard submarines for the next ten years, during which time he earned a Master of Engineering Management from Duke University. D. J. Austin is now retired from the U.S. Navy and lives with his wife and children in a small, New England village by the sea.

That sounds like something my [book's] character, Q, would be reading, between carrying out top secret assignments. All that technical military detail is just what he likes, when relaxing between Ops. I'm sure it will entertain many keen readers, with similar interests.

Hello from the PNW (Pacific North West). I'm a voracious reader - usually 50-60 per year AND a published author. My debut novel will be released next month! I am open to hearing about books that have moved you, have made you laugh, cry, and everything in between.
I invite readers to read reviews of my novels on Readers' Favorite Reviews (do Google search). The following novels received 5-star reviews: "The Gifts and The Fruits", (Christian historical fiction) ""West of the Sunset", "Against the Wild Green Range" and "The One Who Loves You" (all Western Romances), and the following novel received a four-star review: "Freedom's Long March" (historical fiction). Greetings from Tasmania,A little island state of Australia, for those who have never heard of it.
I have recently published my first novel as in independent author on Amazon and, like many others, am trying to get my head around marketing!!! I had only previously written short stories, and at the start of my novel, could not see how on earth one did it! I am now completely hooked and discovered that once you have you characters, you just let them loose and off they go...sneaking new ideas into my head at any time of the day or, worse, night.
Anyway...I have no allusions as to how successful I can be as an independent author, but just love hearing that people have enjoyed my story and writing.
I love reading and film, and I say this because I do see my stories as films as I write them....I love magical realism, sci fi , Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Susannah Clark, Tolkien, Mervyn Peake and of course George Martin - anything with imagination and great characters.

Hi everyone, I've been a prolific reviewer on LibraryThing for years and have decided to start adding some of my best reviews to Goodreads. It's an ongoing process, but feel free to check them out!I've also written a literary science fiction novelette named Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog, which is available for £0.99 on Kindle or free on Kindle Unlimited. I'm very keen to see if people respond to what I was trying to do with it. The blurb is here:
"He had the realisation that all have late in life; that armour does not work, after a lifetime spent forging it..."
He is the Galilean, a living legend: a man with nano-technology flowing in his blood. It means he does not even have to wear a spacesuit as he roams the alien moons of Jupiter.
They are his charges: a group of slush miners who have contracted him to guide them across the salt ice of Europa moon. But none of them can begin to perceive the turmoil taking place in that man's soul...
Inspired by the famous Caspar David Friedrich painting of the same name, Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog is a compelling 12,000-word novelette about the spacefaring future of our species and the enduring rifts in the human condition.
I hope you enjoy it!

Judith, welcome. Love getting some connection from all over the world. I have led a very provincial life. I will watch for tidbits from you about life in Tasmania.
Hello everyone!I decided to join this group as a way to connect and interact on a more personal basis with not only readers, but other authors as well.
Yes, my first book, Time Will Reveal, was published at the end of last year, and yes the second will be out soon, but more importantly, I enjoy asking and answering questions about writing, motivation, and about characters in a particular story.
Feel free to connect with me or ask me questions, and I will definitely respond.
I'm PJ Colando. I grew up in the rural small towns of the Midwest, yet unabashedly longed to adventure Elsewhere, following my parents' model. Now I write fictionalized accounts, with a zany ensemble of characters, set in that locale. Perhaps it's a sort of memoir, for I live in Southern California with my family, hobbies, and pets. I've gained my ideal... there's no place like home.
I write comedy and satire with a literary bent. I blog prolifically as an 'appointment to write' and I am having a blast. When you read my work, I hope that you do, too.
Hej hej!I'm Sami. I was born in the Midwestern United States, but now live in Sweden. I love magic, fantasy, monsters, and animals, which I express through my writing and art. I have a few sample pieces from my anthology, "Little Nightmares," on my profile. I'm publishing my debut novel, "Picking," this fall:
"Go inside before dark and you'll live another day...
"All Sophie wants is to keep her family safe, well-fed, and alive, but the nightsnatchers that visit her village every night want full bellies, too. No one knows where they come from, where they go, or how to kill them. For the sake of her sisters, Sophie leaves her village, venturing into the wilderness exposed and vulnerable, knowing full-well she'll likely never come back. Nightsnatchers aren't the only creatures that lurk in the forest, however, and Sophie will have to face monsters she never knew existed, both on her journey and in her own mind. To destroy every last nightsnatcher, and survive the ordeal, Sophie must learn to trust others and abandon all control of her life."
Horror. Humour. Here. Both of the upcoming stories represent realities you have never dreamt of. Let alone lived. In March 2021, Sandeep Jayaram's novelette Chicken
hit #1 Bestseller in Horror on Amazon. Within three weeks, it was picked up for adaptation to film. The writer is currently neck-deep in working on the screenplay. As of today, CHICKEN is globally rated/reviewed 4.9 on amazon and only has 5 star reviews on Goodreads. Approximately 9 months back, his debut novel, A Ladder Of Panties
was #2 in Movers & Shakers on Amazon's Kindle store. Since then, it has received 4 Kindle Book Deals. A Ladder Of Panties is a Mumbai-based satire and is rated 4.5.

Hey Everyone,I’m a lifelong writer, but have never published a work before. One of my key talents is human strategy, basically being able to clearly see how decisions affect people and what the best path forward is that will best serve others.
I firmly believe in serving first, and I make it evident that I genuinely care for the reader. My goal is that whoever reads my books will learn something new that will help them in their life.
The first book that I recently published needs its first readers, and I’m seeking genuine feedback. Further to that, I have two more projects in the works that will allow me to further find my niche & professional voice.
I’m looking forward to being part of the goodreads community!

Hi, I've just started out as a self-taught author and illustrator of children's books with my first illustrated rhyming story published on Amazon at Christmas time. I now have my 2nd book "I Saw a Dinosaur" nearing completion and due to be released in early summer. Hey guys! My name is Ketki and I'm a new self-published author of a short story collection for children. I'm very new to Goodreads but I want to engage with the community as both a reader (I've been reading a lot more lately!) and author.
I haven't been around much lately, so I wanted to say a very warm welcome to all those who joined while I wasn't coming in to check this thread and welcome people. So... Welcome, new members!
Amazon.in has invited my novel,
A Ladder Of Panties, to be part of its Prime Reading program. In short, this novel is going to feature on a by-invitation-only Amazon curated list of just 1000 books from out of over 12 million on the website. That's in the top 0.1% of books on amazon.I am dumbstruck!
While it does have a reasonably suggestive title, A Ladder Of Panties has nothing to do with misogyny or vulgarity. For those of you interested in reading the work of this dumb writer, here are a few links.

Hi. I’m a former newspaper journalist and show host on Overseas Radio Network. I am also a survivor of childhood domestic violence which inspired my memoir How Wonder Woman Became a Smuggler, a true account of events that twisted all subsequent life choices.
Anyone out there outraged & with enough pride to tell their story? I'm your writer.
