Matthew Perry | 4 comments Hello,
My name is Matthew Perry and I am a middle school history teacher and writer. I just published my first book about my hometown and the Civil War regiment mustered here. I am currently working on a biography of a little known Confederate General and hope to soon write about my thoughts as a history educator.

John Milton | 4 comments Hi. My name is John Milton (no relation to the famous poet unfortunately). I just released my first fantasy novel, The Rise of the Trekken. It is available on Amazon and I currently have a giveaway running.
I am a former army vet and West Pointer, which has been helpful in writing because I think that it helps add some realism to my writing (or at least that is what my mom says. lol) It has been fun seeing something that has been in my head for so long actually published and even more fun tracking sales and page reads. Nothing is quite as satisfying as knowing that someone enjoyed my book enough to keep reading. Hope you enjoy and I look forward to hearing from you.

Allan | 10 comments Hi, I've been a lifelong avid reader of mystery, suspense, thrilllers and crime and have penned a number of short stories over the years. I few years ago I decided to take a bold leap into writng full length novels, the first of which is now avaiable for download on Amazon. Systems Failing is set in present day Belfast and follows Clark Radcliffe as he investigates mystery around a middle eastern investment company targetting N Ireland as its European base. Is all as it seems?

I work full time in government and my writing is purely for pleasure. There is nothing more satisfying than positive feedback from readers. I am currently editing a second Clark Radcliffe novel.

Have a look at my wordpress website. https://allanmccreedy.wordpress.com/

Looking forward to joining the discussion.

Kind regards

Allan

Olga Kuno | 6 comments Hi, I'm Olga, I live in Israel but my mother tongue is Russian, so that's the language in which I write fantasy romance novels. Twelve of my books have been published in Russia, and recently, for the first time, one of them has been translated to English. I've read many fantasy novels in English before, but never romantic fantasy, so now I've got interested in what has been written in this language in this genre.

George (gmaz135) | 6 comments Hello everybody. I just published my first novel, Chasing Dragons on Kindle KDP. It has nothing to do with dragons, but rather lost treasure, intrigue and action. It is set in the South Pacific in the year immediately following the end of WWII. I wanted it to have the feel of an old movie serial or something you might see on TCM late at night. Looking forward to interacting with the group.

Bjorn Ross (BjornRoss) | 2 comments Hello everybody,

My name is Bjorn, I am living just outside London in the UK. Being 57 of age I have a couple of careers behind me, but have now decided to focus my professional life on research and writing.

I have been reading books frequently since I learned to read, and went through all the books on my mother's wall of bookshelves before I was 16. For many years I have been reading crime and action, but have now turned mostly into non-fiction, unless a new James Bond book is released :o) Yep, a bit old fashion on that point.

What I hope to get out of joining this group is to share knowledge and experience with other authors. I believe we have all have been through a lot of worries, to whether it is writing style, length of book, formatting, publishing, marketing, and networking, before we decided to publish our first book.

Having been writing either technical or operational documents for many years, but also academic reports and articles; the non-fiction writing is new to me, and in particular also that of being an indie publisher. Any questions welcome and I shall try my best to contribute, but of course also asking questions and seeking advice.

Cheers,
Bjorn

Pamela Allegretto | 48 comments Bridge of Sighs and Dreams Hi - My most recent achievement is the World War 2 novel: Bridge of Sighs and Dreams, on sale at BookLocker.com, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and iTunes. Nazi-occupied Rome sets the stage for Bridge of Sighs and Dreams, where the lives of two women collide in an arena of deception, greed, and sacrifice. Bridge of Sighs and Dreams is a story of betrayal, dignity, and purpose that highlights the brutality toward Italian citizens, under both Mussolini’s Fascist regime and the Nazi occupation, and illustrates the tenacity of the human spirit. My writing background includes six dual-language poetry books. My writing has appeared in: L’Arte di Sergio Segatin, The English Anthology of The Italian-Australian Writer’s Literary Academy, Omero, and Poeti Nella Società. As a teacher of Italian at Berlitz School of Languages, I also wrote, edited, and translated professional papers. I have published articles in regional newspapers in addition to cover art, illustrations, and cartoons. At present, I am completing my second novel. You can learn more about me, my writing, and my art at: http://www.pamelaallegretto.com.

Ajax Minor | 12 comments Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?

Sun Valley, Moon Mountains
hi! my author name is Ajax Minor (you can read about that in the Foreword to the book, or in the free sample on Amazon).
my wife, Linda, and i lost our daughter to a birth accident in 1992. the event inspired me to write a series of books, 'The Ur Legend', of which SVMM is the first (be assured the MSs are completed for the next two books, so no teasers).
i call the genre of this story Fantastical Realism. in fact, it is a true Quest, a Heroes' Journey for the book's protagonists and parents, Jaq and Kate.
it's loopy, but it's my way of answering the question posed on the book's backcover: 'what if the universe gave us a second chance to right a terrible wrong?'. my series is the only way to have answered it. in this world anyway.
also, check out my blog at: http://www.ajaxminor.com for some great discussions of relevant topics.
good reading!

Alfred Eyrie | 14 comments Hello, readers. I am a Goodreads author who has published several books under my real name, but have had to use a pen name to write and promote a personal memoir based on the true stories of my childhood spent in a haunted house. The end result is Memoirs of a Haunted House. To protect the privacy of those involved, I had to change the names and a few details of the story, so the story is not exactly true and not exactly fiction. My hope is to reach other children and adults who lived through similar experiences and were told, as I was, that they were imagining things or were crazy for talking about it.

Memoirs of a Haunted House is available at a reduced price, July 1st through 6th. Only $2.99!

Catherine Hi my name is Catherine. I live in Arlington, Virginia. Previously, I wrote for about 20 years. Then I stopped writing, I should say publishing, for the last 10 years. I started writing again about a month ago and feel like I'm learning to write all over again. During this month I'm relearning how to write nonfiction and uncovering my new goals and processing routine. I read and write strictly in the nonfiction genre. Particularly in personal development, health, and how to nonfiction writing.

Lauren Garcia (laloga) | 16 comments Hi there! I'm Lauren. :)

I've has been a storyteller all my life. I started writing down my stories at the age of twelve; two decades and over two million words later, I'm still going.

My writing process often begins with a question: what if? Hot on the heels of those two words, other questions like “how?” and “why?” will follow. Inspiration comes from everywhere, though music compels my muse like nothing else. Sometimes a song will strike me, and I won't know why until I'm working on a particular character or scene; then, everything will crystallize in my mind. “Of course! This is how it should go.”

It's great to virtually meet all of you!

Jay Phillippi | 7 comments Hello!
My name is J.D. Phillippi (people call me Jay) and I'm an author on the cusp of self publishing his first book! If everything goes to plan (and it hasn't so far) the book will be available at the end of this month. I have been a dishwasher, actor, painter, parking lot attendant, shuttle bus driver, bell hop, muffin baker, newscaster, advertising copywriter, radio disc jockey and Episcopal youth minister in my working life. I have noodled around with my writing since high school but finally swallowed hard and decided to make a book at the urging of my now adult daughter (who is a brilliant YA writer herself. We hope that she will soon be published).

The book is called "Shorts - A Collection of Short Fiction" and you can find out more about it at
Stories Are My Life

I love to read, I do movie and book reviews, plus general media commentary on my blog, The View From the Phlipside

I'm looking forward to being part of this community!

Kristina Steiner (kristina_steiner) | 8 comments Hello dear writers/readers!

My name is Kristina Steiner and I am a new writer. In April I published my first novel.
Since I started writing, I've been completely consumed by it. I would like to think I am a passionate reader but I have to admit that I am more excited about writing. I love it. I get completely lost in it and then when I re-read my work I find myself again.
I love hearing from my readers around me and round the world. There is nothing like it.
I want to provide entertainment through pages - just like many authors have done for me.
