Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hey all fellow readers and authors. I'm Nick, a Goodreads author. Just wanted to introduce myself. I absolutely love reading and writing. I even work as a reading intervention teacher. Been writing since I was like 13. Published my first book at 18 and my second a year later. My third book, 'Night Ghost' will be released later this month! So glad to be an active member of this group! Looking forward to great discussions!
Hi! My name is Mark and I'm quite new to Goodreads let alone in here! :) Looking forward to meeting new people who love vampires just as much (would say more, but that's unlikely...according to my wife that is) and discovering new books and authors.A little about me: I've been working on my debut novel for 6 years and it's finally done and out for pre-order on May 29. It's a vampire book (obviously). During the daylight hours, I masquerade as a banker and I'm happily married with a just-turned one-month-old baby girl. www.markbenjaminbooks.com
Hi Mark! Good to see you around. Congrats on the new release, it is always exciting! I am a fellow paranormal/vampire reader and author myself. By day, I masquerade as a test-grader among other things. :)
Hi Theresa! Thank you for the welcome! Great to note that I'm in the right place!Test-grader hmm? I would have made you my closest friend were I younger :D

That's an odd twist for a vampire book!!

You're third sentence completely contradicted your second sentence! but ill keep in mind you might do a review in exchange for a book as I am closing in on completing my first draft after more than a year of writing. Off to the editor!

Do yourself a favor and read his article. It's so nice to read someone who makes sentence.

What? WHAT? Makes sentence? Spell check's job is to confuse the reader's so they never know what you're trying to say! "Make SENSE!"
In addition to the book I'm near the finish line writing, and begin everything else needed doing, I also write 2 blogs. Main one is http://mynameisjamie.net and is the core of the book I'm writing: "Inside The Forbidden Outside", the life of a man in prison and the dysfunction of our - for profit - justice system. The second blog is http://watchandwhirl.com. It is where I write about everything else including helping to promote books I enjoy or have a subject people would benefit from reading.
You can also find me at facebook/jamielifeinprison or twitter at sonni_quick. Let me know where YOU are and I'll take a look.
Hello everyone. My name is Brent (B. Scott Tollison is my author name). There seems to be lots of discussion going on here. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing ideas about anything to do with writing and reading. I've probably spent too much time isolating myself with my writing and I'm hoping that joining a community like this will help me maintain at least some of my sanity and help me connect with other readers and authors.
I was born and live in New Zealand and have really only started reading for pleasure in the past few years (around the same time I realised I wanted to write). I feel like I've got lots of catching up to do so have been reading as much as I can and actually left my previous full-time job to finish my first novel (which I recently self-published).
Looking forward to meeting fellow writers and readers and joining in some of the discussions going on.

I'm aware of the contradiction... It was intensional.
You see, while I will read books by new to me authors, just waving a free book at me isn't enough. The book has to have a blurb that makes me feel interested enough in the story to want to read it. In other words, I'm happy to be approached by random authors wanting me to review their books, but I'm not promising to say "yes" to them all. If you want me to review your book, I need the title, the genre, and the blurb. I also need to know what formats you can make the book available in, since I can't make exceptions on formats, due to being blind and only being able to read books in certain formats with certain pieces of technology. If the book sounds like something I might enjoy, and you can offer it in a format that I can use, chances are I'll be happy to read your book. When picking books by new to me authors myself, either because I've stumbled across them or someone has recommended them to me, I look for similar things: a genre I like to read, titles and blurbs that make the book sound like something I might enjoy, and a format that's accessable to me.
Then, when it comes to deciding which book to read next, I first consider if I have any books I've promised to read and review. If so, I read and review them in the order I recieved them, regardless of who the author is. If I don't, I'm most likely to read a new book by a favourite author next.

Hi there! I'm Cassandra Fear, a new author with Limitless Publishing. My first book is out now, which is the first in the trilogy I have planned. Right now, I'm marketing my first book, writing my second, working part time at a large chain retail store, and I'm being a mom and a wife as well. Life is busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It is a pleasure to meet you all:)
Hello everybody! I'm a public librarian (reference section) and I read like it's my job... because it kind of is. I'm very pleased to meet all of you!
Hi,I'm Kelly and I can't remember if I've already introduced myself. I only joined the group recently and can't find that I've posted an intro. If I have then many apologies.
I've been writing for a few years but reading forever. I'm pretty eclectic in my reading choices and love many different genres.
My debut novel Blood In The Sand came out at the end of 2015. It's set in Jersey, in the Channel Islands, and is a crime thriller with murder, mystery and a dash of romance. The story behind the story can be found here (if the link to the TV feature works!)

Hello, to the ether versions of yourselves—hope to get to know some of the real versions of you soon. I’m José Anastasis the author of the recently self-published eBook “Star Invasions.” The obvious genre to put "Star Invasions" in would be Sci-Fi; yet, "Star Invasions" is so much more. Even it's: "An edgy, mysterious Sci-Fi adventure with non-stop action..." —DOES NOT do it justice as a description. The actual story narrative crosses into many genres, including Political Fiction, Historical Fiction, Romance, Suspense, Mystery, & others. Possibly the best concise critique thus far is; “Star Invasions” inspired one anonymous reader to evaluate this new literary work in this fashion: “Mysterious, captivating and suspenseful. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Wonderful and magical story!”
Hi everyone,My name is Dora Ilieva and I love reading and writing. I've written and self-published two books - a novel called "The Devil's Gorge" and a collection of short stories called "Faces". I'm currently working on a second novel. Hopefully, it will be published by the end of the year.
I'm looking forward to connecting with other members of this group.
This is my Goodreads page: https://www.goodreads.com/author/dash...
Hi! I'm Deborah Dixon - author, editor, marketer, publisher, and musician. I was raised in Jamaica and I'm proud to be living in New Orleans! I've been writing for twenty years (despite claims made by the passport office, who swear by appearances I cannot be more than fifteen years old) and have finished nine novels and five novellas, as well as several short stories. The five novellas are part of a series of seven, called Illuminated; they're my special blend of speculative fiction. The last two novellas, plus my first novel to be published, Sovereign, will be out this summer!
When I'm not writing or running my publishing company, I'm working on music. My third album is due out at some random point this year. (Specific, I know.) Aside from that, and some friends scattered across the world, I basically have no life. So I fill it with writing and music and suspiciously duplicitous house plants.
...Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi everyone,First of all, I'd like to thank Vincent for founding this group! It's wonderful to bring the authors and the readers together!
My name is Patty Apostolides. I'm originally from Greece but came to the US when I was a child, and have lived in the US all my life. Although I was a biologist in my earlier years, when I became a stay-at-home mother, I switched to writing novels.
I write sweet romance novels that take place in Greece or have a Greek theme. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing. I also founded the Hellenic Writers' Group of Washington DC and we meet monthly, focusing on poetry and writing.
In a nutshell, I write novels and poetry, play a violin in an orchestra, direct a youth choir, direct a writers' group, and homeschool my son.
I believe that all readers are potential writers.....
If you'd like to learn more about my writing, visit me on Goodreads or my website: www.patttyapostolides.com
Thank you!
Patty
Hello,My name is Nickolas Diaz, I'm 19 and I've recently published my first book titled "From Dusk". It's a science-fiction/fantasy book based in Chicago and then moves over to a besieged and revamped London.
I've wanted to become a writer for all of 6-years maybe, give or take. Writing has always something of passion for me, even as a child in grade school I always wrote stories and was always really determined to make them into something great.
Thanks for reading and having me,
Nickolas
