Elizabeth Robinson (BlackPage) | 23 comments Hi my name is Elizabeth. I enjoy both writing and reading books. I've written two books, but I find I'm having trouble promoting them (given that I'm not 18 yet, I have a quite lack of resources and limited spare time). I'm not entirely sure what to do on this site, and it seems like quite a few people are authors.

Uma (witcheyez) | 9 comments Hi, I'm Uma Mawaery. Just published my first book in January. It's called The Silver Butterfly. No, I'm not Mrs Wilson Woodrow. I know we share the same book title and our protagonists happen to have the same name (A big CONINCIDENCE!), but I'm definitely not her! I read like there's no tomorrow. Really. I fall asleep reading all the time. It's nice to be here and meet you all.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin Hi all. My name is Melissa and I enjoy almost all genres of books. I read several at one time because I love them so much. I started a blog not too long ago. www.melissa413readsalot.blogspot.com. It's not the greatest as I'm learning. I have so many books and try to incorporate the old ones with the new ones I buy, win, get off netgalley, etc. I think there can never be enough books, or time to read them :-). I hope you all have a great day and I look forward to learning from the group!

I am Debbi Silverman author of "A Glimmer of Hope" that just released on April 4th. It is available on Amazon. presently. This is my first publication and was self-published simply because I am impatient. I have been writing for many years and now have the time to perfect and create more regularly. Linda Kallestein (lindamayk) Grab this books for your children they'll surely love them
Baby animals are cuddly and adorable. This pictures book consists of beautiful color photographs of 10 different baby animals. Each one starts with the question of what the baby of an animal is called, to engage toddlers so they can learn a little about animals. And hopefully fall helplessly in love with them.http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Animals-Ad...

Everyone loves animals. So do we. That's why we want to share this love with kids. "The Small Mice of Homesville" is a read aloud story for young children, or an easy-reader for beginning readers.

In this picture book, beautiful color photographs of animals from all over the world are combined with the alphabet. One animal for each letter of the alphabet. Toddlers learn the alphabet in a fun way when they recognize the animals. And hopefully fall helplessly in love with them.http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Kingdom-...

message 10219: by Nanci (new)

Nanci McGraw (nancimcgraw) | 4 comments Re: ENTERING NEW WORLD of GOODREADS
Day 1
She knows she's not really late, but it feels like it. She scurries over lush burgundy and gold carpet and down the wide hallway, stopping at the massive open doors of the five star hotel ballroom. She willed herself to appreciate the roar of the crowd coming from what must be a thousand voices in animated discussion. People in their 'dressed-for-dinner' sartorial splendor were sitting in clusters at round tables, gesticulating with enthusiasm or intense debate. Some of the men and women were standing in small circles, laughing and talking as they sipped golden liquid from sparkling stemware.

Nanci pulled her back straight as she stood in the doorway and adjusted her form-fitting long-sleeved silk ivory blouse with the burgundy brocaded vest. It always felt better worn open at the waist, revealing her favorite snug gold-linked belt. The skirt? It was an indifferent black, calf-length, elegant, swooshy taffeta, Feeling grateful she had opted for the medium-heeled shiny black pumps, she indulged in more self-talk, "Good choice. Comfy." Looking out over the lively crowd she smiled and whispered to noone and everyone, "Helloooooooooooo and here we go!" and then stepped spritely over the threshold and into the grand ballroom thinking in 18 point Arial font, "Why should I feel intimidated by the MILLIONS of readers and authors on GOODREADS? I love books and mysteries too!" &&& NC &:)

Joseph Cognard (jcognard) | 15 comments Hi Joseph here and I'm very excited to join the group. New author (about 3 years) here, but I just wanted to say that the entire Goodreads community, and I am sure this group, have been so wonderful and supportive that it really goes beyond words what it means to someone like myself. I am sure this goes for so many other writers here as well.
I have received so many nice words of encouragement, support as well as really truthful ideas and recommendation, almost all with what seemed the real desire to support me or make me a better writer. I really look forward to what I am sure will be the same from this group, and anyway I can help support other authors here feel free to reach out to me.
As for my writing, I have no real genre that I write in. I've written a Middle grade reader, young adult paranormal novel, and a dark comedic mystery. There is no real thread that runs through them except maybe for insanity and occasional lapses in grammar. Those aside most readers have really enjoyed the rides, even with the occasional bump. My next work due out any day is a science fiction work you know just to keep up with the genre inconsistency. I am taking suggestions for fifth work so feel free to yell out a genre.
Anyway thanks and really look forward to being part of this group.
Below is a list of current works:
Three Twigs for the Campfire
Written for You
Cemetery Girl

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 2898 comments Welcome to the group, Joseph!

I don't see any historical fiction in there... Maybe that should be your fifth? *wink*

message 10228: by David (new)

David Workman | 10 comments My name is David Workman, and I appreciate the opportunity to join the Authors-Readers Group. I enjoyed a career as a journalist and then as a communications director in public service in my state. My new book is ‘Letter from Alabama,’ a true story. My intent is to inspire and surprise readers through the people and events that saved an orphaned / abandoned toddler, and gave him a life. The story turns on a letter—a shot in the dark—that changed everything. The book is a gift to heroes who never thought of themselves in that way.
I look forward to participating in the group, and lively discussion . . .

message 10229: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Cognard (jcognard) | 15 comments So funny! sequel to Three Twigs for the Campfire is going to be historical fiction. I can't even stay in the same genre when it's a series. Not really historical fiction but going to revolve around history class and the War of 1812. If I recall it was a real bettle, I mean staying awake for that one in class.

One of the most baffling human concepts is that of murder and yet, in the Bible's account of Cain and Able, it is a concept which has long played a role in society. Murder cases frequently go unsolved not only for decades, but for centuries and for many people this fact is just as disconcerting as the murder case itself.
Bartholomew (Bat) Tussilago, an alias employed to protect family and friends, is a modern day paladin, and about to learn how perplexing murder can be.

Shaun (shaun2014) | 11 comments Hello all. I'm Shaun, just a typical reader. I read just about anything as far as genre and subject matter. I prefer memoirs/biographies, dystopian, history, sociology/social issues, some assorted fiction, and some true crime.

So as you can see a little all over the map. :)

Sounds like a plan! ;)

I never struggled to stay awake in history class myself, but I was one of those strange children who practically lived in the library, and was disappointed if I didn't get homework... Think Hermione Granger. So, yeah, that's probably why I was one of the few people able to not only stay awake, but also enjoy my history lessons. Like I said, I was a strange child, LOL!

I live in Indiana with my husband and five year old daughter. I'm a stay-at-home Mom and indie author. I just self-published an urban fantasy/paranormal romance called Caution to the Wind
Caution to the Wind (Elementals Series, Book 1) by F.R. Southerland

It's available on Amazon for the Kindle. A print version is coming soon.

When I'm not writing, I'm probably hanging out on the internet, or with my family. Sometimes reading. I like movies and tv shows--especially fantasy, sci-fi, and paranormal stuff.
