Lynda Panther (whitemare) | 3 comments It's great to see so much vibrant activity here - from 'just readers' - you are never 'just' a reader, you are a critic: who do writers write for if not for you? - to hatching dragons. Lovely to be here.
I use my laptop to record passing inspirations. I have enough stuff to last a lifetime - trouble is, I've used most of mine up already. When the time comes, I'd love to 'gift' the unused stuff - is there anywhere I can do that?

Hello everyone!

II write many things but the two things I write most is SFF and about astrology. Different, I know. I keep several blogs on astrology, and one on my fiction work. I'm 50,000 plus words into my latest WIP, Arekan's War and closing in fast on the last 30,000 words. I look forward to making some friends here.

Happy writing!

Beth

Blessed be Ken

Samantha Williams (sami23) | 1 comments My name is Samantha, Sami for short, I am 26 years young and I am a reader as well as a writer. I found my passion for books at a very young age. I've been reading for as long as I can remember. A few years ago I took a stab at writing and fell in love. I would love to make writing a full-time career and eventually become a successful author. I have two sons, one is 8 and the other 4. I live in a VERY small town in rural Wyoming. I have traveled all over the states from coast to coast. I love my life and all of it's little adventures. Nice to meet you. :)

James Kraus | 15 comments The Forester by James Kraus

Hello, my name is James Kraus. I taught Forestry for 30 years at Paul Smith's College located in the Adirondacks near lake Placid, NY. My interest is in nature, conservation, forestry, environmental issues, & basically the good & not so good human relationships with nature. I have written 2 books, THE FORESTER, a novel, & a photo book about the Adirondacks, ADIRONDACK MOMENTS. A High School English teacher persuaded me to write something for the school magazine & dragged me yelling & screaming into writing a short story & thinking that maybe I could write something that people might actually read. And so I think a lot of English teachers & all good teachers in general who care about their students & their futures.

I just wanted to introduce myself, Rob Kaufman, and my book One Last Lie to the group. I've read a lot of these posts and it's great to see such a wonderful mix of readers, writers and readers/writers. I hope to fit in this "mix" as easily, and quickly, as everyone else appears to have done.

Alex Malozemoff (malozemoff) | 4 comments Birthmarked for Freedom
Do we write books? YES! We are both long-standing writers in our technical fields of gerontological nursing and materials science and technology. This is our first novel, a historical novel about postwar Poland, just published. More info about our book can be found on our book website birthmarkedforfreedom.com. With all the incredible events happening today in Ukraine, our book provides timely insight into what life used to be like in countries of this region of Eastern Europe in a tragic but also humorous and romantic story.

Bradly Byykkonen | 6 comments Hello,

I'm a writer and full-time teacher. Originally from the upper peninsula of Michigan, I currently live in Minnesota. My favorite genres for both reading and writing are science fiction and fantasy. I also like to read some nonfiction--mostly history. I'm currently working on the rough draft for book #2. Hopefully it won't take as long as book #1 (six years). Can't rush it, I suppose.

Lee | 1 comments Hi, I'm Lee and new to the group. I'm an author who published my first work of fiction, 'The Aardvark', which is a novella on Kindle in December 2014. I've also previously written non-fiction articles for a newspaper and currently working on a new novella.

My reading tastes differ. My favourite author is Joseph Heller but I'm also a fan of Bill Granger (The November Man series), Ian Fleming, Raymond Chandler, John Fowles, Peter Benchley and Keith Ridgway.

Jasemine Denise (jaseminedenise) | 2 comments Hey, hey guys! My name is Jasemine Denise and I'm the author of two books. I actually love reading too so it'll be fun to read and write!

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MY BOOKS?

The first is a horror novel about a woman who goes on a search for her husband and unravels instead a mystery revolved around his disappearance. The Final Martini

My second book is about an author who writes this awful, failing book. Now she only has ONE chance to write a book that'll change her career and in the process, she falls in love with the one person she shouldn't... Her editor. Twisted Illusions: Part I of the Twisted Trilogy

I look forward to getting to know all of my fellow authors and readers in the group! <3

Charlotte Levenson | 1 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Charlotte Levenson and I'm a UK based children's book author! I'm new to Goodreads so am just finding my feet, but have stumbled across some great book recommendations already! I published my first book "Ricki the Warlock" in December, its a story of a young, cockney Warlock with a penchant for pick 'n' mix and his very funny journey to competing at his school talent show.

I've had some wonderful feedback from readers and have recently been positively reviewed by the Guardian - Happy days!

I also run a blog on the same subject and would love if you visited: http://tomajjavidtash.com/

My writings, in my blog or books, are motivated first by my years of research on quantum physics, and second by my work on metaphysics and transcendental experience.
My hope is to communicate through writing some of these interesting aspects of reality which have the power to transform our lives.

J. Ross (jelleross) Hi! I'm Jennifer and I just recently published my first book, A Gift Freely Given

And I'm about to send off the sequel to my editor. Eek.

I have a background in medieval history and really enjoy rolling research into writing fiction. So, a fantasy novel wasn't too much of a stretch for me. Research Italian knife fighting and Welsh castle building? YES!

I'm a dog lover with 6 dogs in the house. They keep us busy, but also love when I sit down to write. They know that's snuggle time.

Nancy Smith | 2 comments Anna wrote: "Pleased to meet you, Paul. I always wondered how one gets a book to take the step to movie. Is it possible to do other than through a major publisher?"

Hi Anna, Books and screenplays share a lot of the same challenges. It's difficult getting in with a major movie producer or major publisher, however there are lots of talented independents. I suggest that you find a screenwriter who loves your book as much as you do and is willing to adapt it for the movies.

message 9833: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Smith | 2 comments Hi everyone, My name is Nancy Smith. My book listed on GoodReads is called "The Slow Kill." Despite the name, it's not a murder mystery. "Slow Kill" is a term to describe prolonged drought. The book is scifi and set in Austin, Texas where we have had drought for several years. I enjoyed writing this book for you. I hope that you would enjoy reading it.

I've also written and sold four screenplays as well as published a good number of short stories.

Cat Blount | 42 comments Hello all! My name is Cat Blount and I've been a member since *2011*! Can you believe it? I signed up when I published one of my earlier titles and then that was that. I didn't know what to do, I was new to everything. I didn't even know that I wasn't in the Author Program. Tiss, tiss, tiss! Well, it's 2015 and I am very happy to be here.

As I mentioned, I am an author. I have, just recently, decided to publish my stories as ebooks only. I am able to bring my stories to the public as "organically" as possible. It has been one of the best moves that I have made during my writing career. My latest publication is called "ANA!", https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2..., and I will be, God willing, starting my next project soon.

Again, I am very happy to be here.

Best,
Cat Blount

Romana Drew | 11 comments Hello everyone,

I joined this site some time ago, but never did anything at all, so I am still trying to figure out where everything is. I don't feel quite ready to try to publish, but I have posted my novel, The Prince of Kaloria, if anyone is interested in taking a look.

https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

It is a simple story about a young man and the woman he loves, the alien who kidnapped him, the evil bitch he has to marry, an insane uncle, a king's assassination. . .

It contains some mild sex and a bit of violence, so I clicked the button for adult material and got quite a surprised when I checked out the link. A big read caution sign appeared and I had to confirm that I was an adult.

I think there should be some category between MG and porn.
