Jasemine Denise is a young artist driven by passion. Her only ambition since the age of three was to reach out to others behind the words of her mind. Though she was born in Chicago, her journeys to different places helped fuel the inspiration needed to create such imaginative tales. When she was seven, she began to take her writing more seriously and for eleven years, all she's dreamed of was to put her creative works where they belong- In the hearts and minds of others. At eighteen, she published her first novel The Final Martini which is available now. When asked what was next, she was quoted saying "Oh, this is only the beginning."

I am giving an honest review of this book originally for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock and the author Jasemine Denise.
Camille Harrison is an up and coming author in Chicago with 1 book under her belt. The book started off great but within a short time it failed to hold readers attention. Wayne Douglas is an editor for a publishing company and had edited Camille's book before it was published. Now the 2 of them have to work together again to get another book out before the deadline shows up and Camille ends up loosing almost everything.
This book has a smooth flow to the story line and I loved the way the characters interacted together through out the story. Conflict, drama, lies, betrayal, guns and murder make up this book.
This book is not for everyone but for those of you who like a real life story with everyday elements then this is a book you will want to read. I am giving this book a 4 Fang out of 5 Fangs for my rating.

This is a South Side of Chicago Story. The circumstances and situations make me feel as if I am the characters in this story. Thus far I have felt a strong connection to both of Jasemine's published books. The realism and similarities to what I personally have experienced are riveting. I will be reading part 2 most definitely.

The prose is real, gritty and vivid. It's refreshingly paced, there's detail enough to bring everything and everyone to life without getting bogged down in any unnecessary fixations.

The characters all have their charms and flaws. Some you can anticipate, others catch you by surprise - which gives them all a depth to discover and revelations to keep you reading, without ever being shaken out of your seat because their arches move faster than the story-line. They cast one version of themselves early on, but then start doing some contrary things to my perception further in. But with time for those contradictions to be resolved I found myself oscillating between recognising myself in much of the hesitancy in their insecurities, the confidence and pride in their successes; and resenting the posturing, bravado and self-centeredness. Intriguingly, sometimes within the same characters!

As of writing this, I've only experienced the first book in the series and caught myself more than once wondering how the author would manage to tie all the threads together with the pages left, before realising this is truly written as a trilogy. But I became so invested in the story and characters this was actually a bonus - like getting caught up in a HBO show and wondering how it all will end before you realise there's more episodes to look forward too.

There are some serious themes that are treated with respect and I anticipate them being explored further in the series, so all in all, I'm looking forward to the rest of the journey!

I have to say that I am extremely proud of author Jasemine-Denise's growth as a writer. Many novelist despise hearing that their current book is better than the one before it, but in this case perhaps better isn't the way to put it. There has to be a kinder phrase. Her writing has always been superb, but it seems in her newest piece she was able to truly connect us to the characters. Denise has opened new doorways into a (sadly) timeless Chicago tale. She really out did herself, and I am looking forward to Part 2 of the Twisted Trilogy already. I honestly miss Matthew, but I don't know whether to hate him or love him anymore. Hopefully Part 2 will be longer. With the current "Twisted Illusions" ending it only makes sense. Major. Freakin'. Cliffhanger. It's kind of funny. The same hope the novel represents, despite the disappointment you feel toward certain characters at time, is the same hope you have at the end.

You find yourself hoping that the way Denise left things was not final. Suddenly everything goes from wishing Camille Harrison the best, to wishing farewell to a character you still cared for.
