Summer (summerbp) | 4 comments I believe this was a short story collection, although I only remember 3 of the plots:

1: A smallish town in which there is a mansion-type house on property that is completely walled around(?). More importantly, in the yard there are many topiaries of carnivorous animals, in particular bears and large cats. At some point, two or three boys are investigating and somehow the topiaries come to life. I remember distinctly the description of the topiaries' wooden claws and teeth as they chased the boys. In the end, I think one of the boys is in the hospital recovering.

2: A boy keeps waking up to experience the same day over and over (a la Groundhog Day.) Possibly linked to some American Indian relics in his school, which was built on a burial ground? That might be mixing stories, though.

3: A new family moves onto the street...they are all very pale and somewhat greenish-looking. Turns out they are some sort of aliens who came in from the TV (I think) and are trying to make more aliens. I know at one point they got into the protag's house and put some of their green alien gunk in the baby's scrambled eggs...?

That's all I can remember concretely. I read it in the mid-90's sometime. It was probably published anywhere between 1988-1997?

All help appreciated!

Maybe?

or a Goosebumps book, I have one of 30 RL STINE stories

Summer (summerbp) | 4 comments Thanks; it's not from any of the Scary Stories...they were longer than that and not really "folk-lore" type.

I've considered R.L. Stine, but I'm sure it's a book I owned, and I've never owned any of his books.

Renee (reneebergeron) Maybe The Language of Fear, by Del James. This had a collection of horror type stories in it.

Summer (summerbp) | 4 comments The books are the Fright Time series; 3 stories per book. My brother remembered the name!

Thanks for all the input!
