This book is everywhere and I was honestly excited to start it… but I’m listening on audio and I need some reassurance here...
The "redactions" being rendered as loud, staticky, high-pitched tones are testing my will to live. Is this a me problem, or did anyone else find this genuinely awful?
Please tell me - should I push through? Is the payoff worth the auditory assault?

Ha! I did feel similarly. A friend of mine thought it was cool and pretty ingenious. I found it a bit annoying, but I prefer ebooks in any case. This book particularly. It is nonlinear and is actually a lot of fun to read. It is definitely worth pushing through, but perhaps in print.
Ahh, I read it in print, so the redacted was....literally... redacted. I don't know if the auditory assault is worth it, but the redactions are clever... I do suggest pushing through because towards the end, those noises may immerse you into the scene where the redactions are part of the character's experience...
