This was simply entertaining. Great characters (Momma K was my favorite), descent plot and overall fun read.

Book 1 - great, innovative
Book 2 - Not so great, dull in places
Book 3 - starts slow, ends strong.
Overall: Solid B work.

Favorite lines: - not to accuracy
"Go f my daughter!"
"We have to go meet my wife, I wonder who she'll be."
Cheers
~Chris

My favorite line is this:
"You're not sh** unless I say so!" the king said. He strode forward, coming down his double flight of seven steps to stand in front of Durzo. Tactically, a poor move. He was now blocking at least three of the archer's shots. "You're . . . you're sh**! You sh***ing, sh***ing sh**!"
"Your Majesty," Durzo said gravely. "A man of your stature's cursing vocabulary ought to extend beyond a tedious reiteration of the excreta that fills the void between his ears."
The king looked momentarily confused.
--The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks, page 368
Now in my opinion, that's the way to insult somebody.

Read his acknowledgements at the end. Especially the last paragraph. Love it!
Most obvious question; Favorite character and why?
What does Weeks offer us that sets him apart from other fantasy novels?
Favorite scene or conversation?
I should be completed with the first book tonight or tomorrow with hopes of coming up with more detailed questions. If anyone can contribute please do!

Thanks gang.
~Chris

It's great that so many are reading or have read, and that y'all are anxious to get to discussions.
Pamela, based on your post, I have to ask if you are volunteering to be our Discussion Leader?

No thanks. Just want a discussion. I'll wait till January. Gives me time to reread all three.

There are several themes throughout this series. How many have you found? Which do you think is most crucial the story? Additionally, construe them to your everyday lives as non-assassins.
Blint, Momma K and Count Drake offer and education to young Kylar. Which had the most impact on older Kylar and how?
Weeks tended to make up some new words in this story (ie Ka’kari) Do you have a clear understanding of them when introduced? If not, did it distract from the story?
Favorite scene?

What sets Brent Weeks apart from other fantasy writers?
And because I love Fan Art….

If anyone comes across Fan Art of Doll Girl, please post. I did not come across any.
Once I complete, I should have some more questions.
Enjoy!!!

Keep 'em coming...this is just what we need to get the discussions going.

Great Fan Art, Pamela!
I loved that one with Durzo telling Azoth to look on DOll-Girl's scars. That's a strong one. I also loved that part in the book.

What turned you off about it at first? When did it get ya?

I agree. That scene is pivotal point in the story and gut wrenching.
Every moment doll face and Kylar are together, I eat it up. There relationship is just so innocent. Her character developed into a perfectly flawed women that you can't help but love. Kylar reverts back to being eleven every time he's with her. Which is adorable. I am a sucker for a love story and reading theirs is just too sweet.

Sarah, I don't know if you're a sucker for a love story like I am BUT I completely forgot the next two books introduces a very sweet and abnormal romance. Actually it offers two of them. Weeks did a wonderful job of weaving these honeyed tales into an otherwise gritty, darken story

Really? I'm so excited to get to the next books. I only bought the first one to see if I liked it. SO far (less than 100 pages till the end) I'm loving it, and I'm sure I'm going to read the next ones.
An dI LOVE well done, sweet love stories!
Oh!!! Can't wait!

Still haven't found anything on older Doll Girl.

I don't know, I don't think there was any particular moment. It just grew on me. I'm on the third book now

They’re hard too put down. When I purchased the first book, five chapters in I put it down, went back to the book store and purchased the other two. I am going to post a comment about Vi in the Night Angel # three section... Let me know what you think of her!
