i really enjoyed that book.

I'm almost finished with The Red House. Next up: Savages. Ive been looking forward to the oliver stone movie and was excited when Lee mentioned it in another thread.

Frankenstein
A Canticle for Leibowitz
The Persimmon Tree
The House of the Spirits
I think I'm going to read Fifty Shades of Grey next because nothing is stirring my senses lately. I've been consistently rating books at 3 stars. Maybe some escapism is what I need.

I'm about half way through. It's taking me a long time to read for some reason. I am enjoying it quite a bit.

I nearly started that book a few days ago, but wanted to get a jump on my August group read to make sure it was done before discussion started August 1.
Maybe we can start a TC discussion thread on The House of the Spirits when I get it finished?

That would be great. I'm currently involved in a discussion on the book in another group, but would be happy to discuss it here.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm hoarding books.

I can only remember the disturbing bits. Rape ,trauma, grief and guilt.

Me too, LG. Magazines and catalogs are my particular weakness. I also realized I have clothing in my closet that I purchased when George Bush, Sr. was president. Scary.

I finished Life and Death in the Third Reich and I'm starting Clutter Busting: Letting Go of What's Holding You Back.

How was Winter's Tale, Mr. Charly!!!???

I'm almost finished listening to The Emperor of All Maladies and the end cannot come soon enough. This book is a drag, somebody get this doctor an editor.
I'm just starting The Taste of Sweet: Our Complicated Love Affair with Our Favorite Treats in search of information about my own personal love affair with sweet stuff.

Finished Breakfast at Tiffany's and am starting Tom Jones"
Charley - how was the book? Did the movie follow it closely?

I finished The Guns of August, now that I know how it ends I'm rereading the first couple chapters. Everyone should read this book! Unless you can't read.

I read that in fits and starts. I liked it three stars worth, and was especially taken with the descriptive language.

I love Ms. Atwood something fierce, but Blind Assassin was the only one of her books I threw across the room. I should probably try it again.
