Our local library is very deficient in the comic/graphic novel/art book department. I'll have to see if I can find it at the city library near my office.

I wish our inter-library loan system was better. The system only loans between 3 small libraries, with very little difference in their catalogs. Ours is actually the largest of the 3.

My end-of-the-year read will be: De avonden.

Ooooh. Sometimes I wistfully page through the offerings at the County system rather than the city. I think I could probably get a card in the county if I tried, but I'm loyal.
Sally wrote: "I'm reading Three Junes."I just checked out Three Junes from the library. It's next on my list.
I just started A Taste For Death and I'm nearing the end of The Logic of Collective Action: Public Goods and the Theory of Groups.
I just finished On Writing and December 6. I'm debating between starting The Postmistress or The Snow Whale.
I have read Borstal Girl - Eileen MacKenney and A Wayne in a Manger - Gervase Phinn. Now I am about to carry on reading Time Bomb - Jonathan Kellerman
I was at Barnes & Noble a few days ago, waiting for my wife to finish shopping at Bath & Body Works. Can't leave a bookstore without a purchase, right? So I bought one. When I got home, I looked it up on GR. Perhaps I should have done that first. Turns out it has received lukewarm reviews, including one from our very own LG.
The book is The Princess of Burundi and I swear it looked interesting as I browsed it in the store.
The cover looked kind of interesting to me at first, too. Tree trunks, a snowy forest. Oh well. What are you gonna do.
I'm in the middle of Hatchet Jobs: Writings on Contemporary Fiction.

Have just finished the immensely enjoyable A Redbird Christmas - Fannie Flagg. I am now about to embark on reading Private London - James Patterson.
started the 1st book "Game of Thrones" in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.... plan to have the book done in 2 more days after work.... then to continue on with the rest of the series....

Oh and I have Pillars of the Earth on my iPhone for when Im on the road...... I know, Im trying to reach my goal of 200 books read this year alone, and I only started it in March
Sally wrote: "Whoa, I guess I did know those were graphic novels. I liked the tv show...cool!"yea the books story line is different and actually better than the show.

Their Last Suppers: Legends of History and Their Final Meals finishing up. Then on to Provenance: How a Con Man and a Forger Rewrote the History of Modern ArtI got on this art theft binge and can't stop. I don't even know art but I am learning a lot about stealing it.
You sound like a good candidate for Jonathan's book, then.
The Man Who Made Vermeers: Unvarnishing the Legend of Master Forger Han van Meegeren
The Man Who Made Vermeers: Unvarnishing the Legend of Master Forger Han van Meegeren
The binge started with The Forger's Spell: A True Story of Vermeer, Nazis, and the Greatest Art Hoax of the Twentieth Century which was about van Meegeren. Then went on to The Rescue Artist: A True Story of Art, Thieves, and the Hunt for a Missing Masterpiece. Then The Gardner Heist: The True Story of the World's Largest Unsolved Art Theft. I'll look into Jonathan's book after I finish Provenance: How a Con Man and a Forger Rewrote the History of Modern Art then maybe I can move on to something else.
I started The Postmistress last night (paperback) and will start the audiobook, Great Expectations on my way to town this morning.
Charly wrote: "Finally finished Nicholas Nickleby and am now starting, Jude the Obscure, and a re-read of A Christmas Carol"You'll need the pick-me-up of Christmas Carol after Jude. Heck of a choice for the holidays, Charly.
I've been reading My Sister's Keeper byJodi Picoult the last couple of days. The subject and the superb writing make it very hard to put down.
Angela wrote: "I've been reading My Sister's Keeper byJodi Picoult the last couple of days. The subject and the superb writing make it very hard to put down."I liked that one. I'm not a big "topical fiction" fan, which seems to be her usual focus, but I thought it was handled very well. I liked the lawyer character a lot.

I've never read anything she's written but I've heard so many rave reviews about this one. I finally decided I could step away from my usual genres to see what all the fuss was about.
