I am looking for title of a mass market fiction prior to 2004 that begins with the landing of a 747 "ghost plane" where all passengers are dead save for one lone terrorist. In the end, the protaganist does not get his man. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I don't know the title but the author is Nelson DeMille. I remember feeling quite suckered when I finished that book and found that I had to buy ANOTHER book just to get to the end of the story.
