Chris | 7 comments Hello group members,
My first book, "Dad, You Were Right: Reflections From a Stubborn Son" is a book of reflections on lessons learned and memories from my Dad, who passed away from a brain tumor at the age of 54. This book recounts the advice given by him and lessons learned the hard way from not taking it!
From humorous to heartfelt, I recount the lessons learned along the way while growing up and how I incorporate them into my own life with my kids.

Mary Buras-Conway (maryeconway) | 176 comments Hi Chris. I love what you have written about. I miss my mom desperately since she passed away. Her life lessons to me play over and over in my mind, just as I'm sure mine to my children will do the same when I'm gone.
One thing I can't stress to anyone enough is that life is short. We only have the people we love and care about on loan. All of us, including me, need to make that time count.

Maxwell Bauman | 1 comments I recently finished reading Mau VanDuren's "Many Heads and Many Hands: James Madison's Search for a More Perfect Union." The book explores Madison's international influences to write the Constitution, and sheds light on the origins of the virtues and rights Americans value so much. I'd love to know what fellow history buffs think.

Alfred Eyrie | 14 comments Memoirs of a Haunted House by Alfred Eyrie
Hello, readers. I am a Goodreads author who has had to use a pen name to write and discuss a book about my encounters with the supernatural. I’m sure, if you’ve perused some of the discussion threads about spirituality and religion, you’d understand part of the reason. I should point out that this is not exactly a non-fiction book, since I had to change some of the more obvious details that would identify myself, my family, and the real house that I am writing about. However, since it is based on a true story (mine), I would like to mention it here.

My book is about a house I lived in as a kid that was…well, it was haunted. The story isn’t about the ghost, though. It’s about how oblivious my family and friends were to my problems that I was having with the ghost. The reason why I am bringing it to your attention today is because, thirty years later, I am still struggling to communicate with oblivious people who think, “If I can’t see it, you must be crazy”. I like to ask people: “If a child told you they were molested by an uncle, you would call the police. You wouldn’t tell them they were imagining things. Why do people not take things seriously when it is something strange like the paranormal?”

If you are interested in reading this book, it is available for Amazon Kindle.

Matthew | 28 comments I recently released my new book, The Bumpkinton Tales: Volume One in paperback and on Kindle. I've had some lovely feedback and always looking to meet new authors and readers alike :)

The book is a collection of 5 short stories and novellas set in the village of Bumpkinton. They are humorous tales in a place where the characters are slightly odd but there's a lot of heart, love and pathos thrown in for good measure.

If you like a bit of British humour and a light, relaxing read then this could be for you :)

You can find my book here: http://authl.it/B01FMPN2SE

If you read it and enjoy it, then I am running a competition to win lots of Bumpkinton prizes on my website, a big bundle include a bag, mug, keyring and pens. I may throw in a few more things too nearer the closing date. All you ahve t odo is send in a picture of you reading my book in either paperback or Kindle format and visitors to my website will vote for the winner. Entry closes on 30th June 2016 and is open to all.

Hope you enjoy it and if you do, good luck in the vote! :)

After living on Catalina Island for thirty-two years, I retired from my job as harbormaster and wrote my memoir of what life is like on a remote island with a population of 150, but a summer influx of more than 1,000 boats on busy weekends.
'Between Two Harbors, Reflections of a Catalina Island Harbormaster', reveals how it was to raise two sons on an island, dealing with storms, boating accidents (such as the death of actress Natalie Wood), and the joys and pleasures of island life. Cindy Amrhein (historysleuth) | 33 comments Hello all. Anyone interested in Native American history? Mine came out in March if anyone is interested in doing a review. A History of Native American Land Rights in Upstate New York
Blurb:
A complex and troubled history defines the borders of upstate New York beyond the physical boundaries of its rivers and lakes. The United States and the state were often deceptive in their territory negotiations with the Iroquois Six Nations. Amidst the growing quest for more land among settlers and then fledgling Americans, the Indian nations attempted to maintain their autonomy. Yet state land continued to encroach the Six Nations. Local historian Cindy Amrhein takes a close and critical view of these transactions. Evidence of dubious deals, bribes, faulty surveys and coerced signatures may help explain why many of the Nations now feel they were cheated out of their territory.

This one of mine isn't self published if that OK. I only mention it because I don't have a shareable ebook file. I can send a paperback if that's alright. You can message me on here if your interested.

Thanks for considering.

Doug Oudin | 169 comments Thirty-two years living on Catalina Island and serving as harbormaster for many of those years, prompted me to write my memoir; 'Between Two Harbors, Reflections of a Catalina Island Harbormaster'. It was published in 2013, and continues to attract readers on Amazon, and at the few stores carrying the book.
For those that know Catalina, it has proven to appeal to all. For those that do not know the Island, it gives insight and informs.
From my involvement with the death of actress Natalie Wood (chapter #5), to the many incidents and unique experiences I shared while living on Catalina, the stories both entertain and enlighten.

"Written with empathy, searing insight, and dark humour, Frozen to Life is both cutting edge and bleeding heart: a postmodern experiment in falling in love with life while preparing for death, in ways we can change ourselves radically without losing our treasured humanity, and in coming to understand that neither life nor death is what we think it is."

Would you consider posting a short review on Goodreads and /or Amazon? If so, email me at Randy@RandySiegelWrites.com, and I'll send you the pub. Here's a summary: If you've ever experienced a breakup—and face it, all of us have—then this book is for you. Whether that loss was recent or in the distant past, there are lessons to be learned. By sharing his story, and the stories of many others, author Randy Siegel shows readers how a breakup can become a wake up call to become our best selves, living our best lives. In “Break Up, Wake Up, Move On,” Randy offers practical, how-to advice written with the candor, compassion, and grace of someone who knows what it’s like to lose and win at love. This book is divided into five parts: setting the scene, the breakup, the wake up, the break through, and moving on. Siegel gives readers the insight, tools, and exercises they need to transform a broken heart into an open heart.

Russell Gibbs | 20 comments I am seeking honest reviews for my new spirituality self-help book. If you would like to review this book please email me at russellagibbs@msn.com with your format preference. (mobi, epub or paperback)

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life is a concise 13,000 word spiritual self-help book.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life by Russell Anthony Gibbs

All enlightened beings, most founders of religions and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years and yet remain shrouded in mystery and misinterpretation. This book seeks to remove that shroud by explaining the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in a concise, accessible format. Each principle is defined, explained and supported by quotes from enlightened beings, philosophers, artists and scientists like Buddha, Albert Einstein, Rumi, Stephen Hawking and Jesus. To understand the six principles of enlightenment is to understand the meaning of life.

Author Russell Anthony Gibbs is a philosopher and spiritual seeker on a quest for enlightenment. In writing this book he has researched Bahaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sufism and Taoism. In addition to religion and philosophy, he has incorporated quantum mechanics, physics and psychology and studied the works of Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Stephen Hawking. Russell’s communication style has been described as “Espresso Wisdom,” consisting of short, strong, rich insight. As the first in a planned 8 book series, it has already amassed a positive following and reached #12 on the Amazon Hot New Releases for Spiritual Self-Help in its first 30 days.

“A wise, encouraging, and potentially life changing book that will fascinate and inform all those seeking spiritual truths and enlightenment.”

Natalie | 1 comments Hi all. I published a book, Digested - eating healthier made easier 3 ways, but am new to Goodreads and still trying to gather reviews and build awareness about it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0996892109

This is a how-to guide to embellished with my personal journey through chronic allergies and fatigue. I've learned so much about how the foods we eat (even some healthy ones) can do our bodies so much harm. Knowing how overwhelming this can be, I have aimed to share this knowledge in a quick, simplified read that is practical for everyone, know matter how busy you are or how healthy you think you already eat!

It's getting great reviews so far, but I need more, and I need help building awareness. I'm donating a portion of proceeds back to the community as discussed on my website http://digestedbook.com - where you can also link to my Facebook page.

Please let me know if you are interested in this topic and exchanging reviews. If you have friends struggling with health issues, or simply wanting to eat healthier, please share.

I'm happy to exchange reviews for self-help books, anything health related, or topics such as sports, nature, music. (I'm not such a great fit to review sci-fi, history, for example.)

Also, a giveaway for this book begins tomorrow!

Thanks so much!

Please email me at garethalittle (@) gmail.com, let me know if you prefer mobi or epub. The book is a primer on the way that online-based companies threaten society and the economy.

They're Coming For You

Silicon Valley is out to get you. An army of hungry, ambitious engineers are working on ways to completely upend the status quo of everything from advertising to zucchinis. Regardless of how to choose to interact with technology the things you take for granted, driving your car, shopping for food, consuming media, are under threat of being transformed beyond all recognition.

They're Coming For You exposes how today's hot young startups are using billions in venture capital to forcibly destroy many established industries. By sidestepping regulation and buying influence companies such as Uber and Airbnb are altering life for users and non-users alike.

By leveraging the massive power the Internet has granted, startups consisting of only a few dozen employees are able to exploit thousands of workers by refusing to class them as employees; saving millions in salary, pension and insurance payments while taking away any kind of job security for those working on the front-lines.
