INTRO: My fav book last year was on film writing, by the guy who created the tv series "Stitchers." I'm new here and am so far an Invisible Man it seems. I can't wait 'til the publishing world catches-up to the Kindle revolution and starts allowing full color illustrations in fantasy books for all ages, especially YA. (Right now 120 color pages printed through Createspace can't be made for less than about $20.) I'm trying to lead this, and have a YA novella up for possible free review. This is our first real reprint. Previous reprints (2) have been posted to the blog GARDYLOO and were either a story from a magazine that went belly up (the British Ezine Steel Caves) or a story that was never published but was too good to toss.Anyway, some of you may remember our story “A Genesis” which was first published back in February of 2016. The reprint has been doctored a little, but is much the same.

Hi, Mallory! I'm in the midst of writing a novella per month as part of a writing challenge. The series is called The Knight's Journal and details the twelve tasks a young man named Aidan must complete to become a knight.
What caught my attention in your post is that I've set it in post-Roman-occupied 5th century Britain. And in fact there's some locations, especially in the earlier part of the series, that happen in Wales.

I'm ML McIntosh, I write mostly urban or modern fantasy stories. My first two novels are Thin Places and its sequel Repair Me Well. They're both available on Amazon. Here's a little piece of Thin Places: The wolf placed one paw before the other, head down. His shoulders shifted left and right as he passed beyond the trees. Every third step, he gave a little hop, like both back legs were stepping together. Jack Coles leaned against the trunk of a black ash and watched the creature. His sense of déjà vu grew violently, morphing into an unbearable thud resonating through his brain.
Jack could feel his ears tingling. The wolf paused at the far end of the clearing that separated them and pointedly bared his teeth at Jack. Jack pressed his hand against the bark as he contemplated the sight before him.
Awash in a blanched light, lying in a jumble at the center of the clearing, were the gashed and scratched bones of an insultingly large serpent. The skull sat in the grass and seemed to dully contemplate Jack as he stepped into the light.
“Stop,” the white wolf growled as it, too, stepped into the light opposite of Jack. He stood in an un-proud sort of way, and Jack stared in shock at the space where the creature’s leg should be. As they regarded each other, Jack could hear a semi-distant bird calling out an ascending scale in minor key. What must be pollen perpetually settled from one bit of the air to another.
“There is treachery in the sunlight; look to the shadows upon which this house is built,” the wolf growled.
Jack fixed his eyes upon the black shadows created by the bones, and realized there was something moving within them.

I hope you can treat yourself to a few chapters around Halloween, as that's when the story takes place and the characters race across Britain and various other-worlds to save the dystopian future. It's pretty short too, about a 2-hour read/movie. There's also quite a few editorial reviews to stir your imagination, although this 99cent mass-edition only has two customer reviews so far. I have a fantasy romance trilogy:Magicals
Centuries ago an oath was created between a coven of magicals and a pack of werewolves. This oath created connections that would allow better protection between them. This is Arabella and Garrett’s story.
Arabella is returning to her small town after three years, not much has changed except for her. Three years ago her brother left the light magic behind and went to the dark, making an agreement to eliminate the threat of Arabella. After his attempt her mother took her and fled to Paris, leaving behind her father and Garrett, her best friend and oath bound protector. It’s been three years since that fateful night, three years of silence from Garrett and she is forced to return after a horrific event. Now she must return to her small town in Alabama and her former life.
Garrett has never forgiven himself for how he treated Arabella before she left. He had no words to make up for his behavior so he’s been silent since her departure but now she’s returning and he has to find the words. However, the minute he sees her he knows he’d give up everything to fix it, to protect her. Getting her forgiveness might be another story though.
Shortly, after Arabella’s return it becomes obvious that the dark magic and her brother are still seeking her out and her only hope could lie within Garrett and their connection.
