Jackie...Nooooooo, *she shouts as she leaps at Jackie, knocking the Fig Newton from her hand* don't eat em!!!!! I watched this documentary on Figs and they have these horrible wormy things in em, almost all of em, almost all of the time! They're WORM cookies!!!

It was the actual fruit! But, if it is in the fruit (most of the time), then you can't tell me that Nabisco is checking each one! Hell no, they're just grinding those suckers up and stuffing in in a crust of cookie-ish material and shoving it on the shelf!! No thank you, I'll never eat another fig related product as long as I live...bugs and their larva have no place in my diet! I don't care who else eats em, or how good they are for you!
Amanda, you eat fresh figs? I've never seen one that wasn't buggy or wormy.... ick. Maybe it's just the trees in the areas I've lived.
