D.J. Webber (djwebber) | 27 comments Hi, I am posting mp3's on my website of me reading my children's novel, "Oom". Click here . I was wondering if anyone else is doing the same, and if so maybe they can reply here with a link so everyone else can check out their book readings.

I'm doubt I'm the first to do it, but I liked the idea because it makes it easier for people to sample the story. Also I got to present the story in the exact way I intended it - putting emphasis in the right places, sounding upbeat or melancholy etc - (I guess, though, a really talented writer should be able to do this purely through writing!).

Do people think this is a good/bad idea? Will it help sell books?

Hi, David,

I have been posting mp3s in my sig files for quite some time. I've also worked with PIVTR (for the recording quality) and GoddessFish.com (for the visuals) to create a youtube video with my reading of a 2 minute excerpt as the sound track.

I'm not sure how well it works, but I've got my head down doing NaNoWriMo at the moment.

Best wishes,
Rowena Cherry

Mohammad Khan.ch. | 6 comments dear David and Rowena,

Thank you very much for your nice comments. But you people belong to advance nations and you have certain sources so you can do a lot!!!!!!!!

you think about those writers who are very much away from the market and they do not have any pacility available there in villages and you must feel their hardships and their problems.

Give me some very nice idea to promote my book, "The Unfathomabel vastness of God"".

Though it is very popular here and abroad and i recieved its first cheque from America USA from jann Gail who is a great lady from America USA and a great scholar and a thinker of this present age. may God bless her well in His blessings.

warm regards,

yours, khan.waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!peace to all.""

Alison | 55 comments Hi David, I have started recording and uploading my book as a series of podcasts after several of my friends told me they wished I could read it for them. I live in the US with an English accent. I thought it would be fun so decided to do it chapter by chapter. I only started on the 19th and wasn't going to publicize it to my friends for a while but I already have 3 subscribers who are listening to it, who are not people I know.

I am not a professional voice over person so I do stumble over words every now and then but it's free to listen to.

You can find it at http://www.alisonpensy.podbean.com I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback and I will check yours out too.

I think it is a great way to get some extra publicity. Doing it through podbean it goes straight to itunes, all at no cost.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try podbean. I uploaded my podcasts to ITunes using my Wordpress RSS feed, which is no good because the information about my Podcast in the ITunes Store is not what I want. And I don't know how to change it.

I look forward to listening to your podcasts, I'll get back to you!

Alison | 55 comments Hi David, I tried listening to yours but it says it's an Ma4 file? and my computer cannot read it. If/When you get it uploaded in podbean let me know.

Thanks
Alison

D.J. Webber (djwebber) | 27 comments Hi Alison, thanks for the podbean tip. My podbeans are now at oom.podbean.com.

I just listened to your chapter 1 podcast, and am looking forward to part 2. The sound quality was really good, as was the reading!

BTW m4a files can be opened by ITunes and some other media players. Having them on podbeans is great because they sort that stuff out for you.
