Sara (hoot31) I'm looking forward to it too. I read Hush, Hush as an advanced reader copy and couldn't put it down!

message 52: by Kim (new)

Kim | -9 comments I just finished Hush, Hush today and I used it for task 10.5 since it was on the list of popular books for 2009.

message 53: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (mamamunky) | 185 comments How about Spook Science Tackles the Afterlife or The Eyre Affair? I'd like to finally get those off my tbr shelf.

message 54: by Krista (last edited Jan 01, 2010 12:11PM) (new)

Krista (kacey14) Hi Lindsey: I think that either one of these could be slotted for task 20.1:
ROOKIE OF THE SEASON - BETH MN'S TASK - REVISITING THE PAST: Choose Your Favorite Task From A Past Challenge....

Task 15.2 from the Summer Challenge is:
Casting Call – Read A Book That Hasn’t Already Been Made Into A Movie And Post A List Of Who You Would Cast If You Were Making The Film.

message 55: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (mamamunky) | 185 comments Oooh thats a good idea. Eyre Affair should be a good one for that task. Thanks!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3049 comments Okay I have a book. Where can I fit "On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God". I was thinking for task 30.3 Snowed In and Loving It however if there is a better task, let me know.

message 57: by Petra (new)

Petra Jayme, do you have a book with a long title for Task 25.8 yet? If not, this book would fill the long title slot (7 or more words in the Title).

message 58: by Krista (last edited Jan 01, 2010 07:07PM) (new)

Krista (kacey14) Jayme wrote: "Okay I have a book. Where can I fit "On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God". I was thinking for task 30.3 Snowed In and Loving It however if there is a better task, let me know. "

Hey Jayme: I'm not sure if you've used this task yet, but it loooks like it will also fit 15.3.a.

WHAT WOMEN WANT (TO READ AND WRITE) - In Honor Of Betty Friedan (Born February 4, 1921 - Died February 4, 2006) Famous Feminist…
A. Read A Novel Written By A Female Author From A Series That Has A Female Main Character.

Since it now qualifies for two tasks you could also use it for Task 30.7 --- JAN THE GRYPHON’S TASK - MULTI-TASKING Read A Book That Will Fit Two Or More Other Tasks In The Winter 2009-2010 Challenge.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3049 comments I have a book for 15.3a. I can try 30.7 for the multitasking.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3049 comments Petra, I have a long title book for 25.8 but I could switch it.

Sarah (Mood Reader) (bookworm1887) | 458 comments I don't know if it's already been mentioned or not but you could use Hush, Hush for the alliteration task.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3049 comments The third one can fit into the what's your resolution task. If you haven't done that one yet.

[book:On a Pale Horse
could work for:
Task 25.3.a --- SARA NICOLE'S TASK - A GAME OF CLUE
A. Suspects - Scarlet, Peacock, Mustard, Green, Plum, Or White: Read A Book With A Cover That Very Predominantly Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple, Or White. Post A Picture Of The Cover When You Claim Points, Please!

The cover of the book shown using the Goodreads link is predominantly yellow. (At least I think it is pretty yellow. It might be good to check with Sara Nicole for her approval of it.) If your book also has the yellow cover it could be used here.

Sorry about the late reply! Here is the link to my winter challenge folder - there you can see what I want to read and what I have read. I would really like to use Guilty pleasures and I've also got another book called I, Claudia that Iwant to use...

message 66: by Usako (last edited Jan 05, 2010 06:14AM) (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton
* 5.6 Dirty Job - If you wouldn't want to get down and dirty into investigative work, it's somewhat plausible. Can't go by vampire hunter since that's fictional.
* 5.7 Chinese Zodiac - Laurel K Hamilton is a Rabbit
* 10.4 Five Star Reads - You'd have to check out the winners' read folders if GP was listed as a 5 Star.
* 15.4 Favorite Game - If you play Masquerade or any vampire-themed game, then GP would fit as a novel
* 20.2 Past Challenges - You might be able to fit GP into the old challenges
* 25.3 Clue - Depending on the cover, it could fit the color challenge
* 25.10 Great Cover Design - Depending on what you think of the cover

If GP doesn't fit for any of those tasks, then it could be 25.5 Odd Man Out.

Manday | 307 comments I am trying to fit two books in that I am reading for book club - please help!!!

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

and

Blue Sky July: A True Tale of Love, Light and 'Impossible Odds'

Thanks!!

PS: I have already used up the chinese zodia and five star reads of winners

message 68: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 680 comments The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde fits the 1001 Books to read before you die task and Blue Sky July fits the 7+ words title requirement in the insane answering maching day task.

message 69: by Manday (new)

Manday | 307 comments ooh! thanks for the 1001 idea! I already have a long title book though that I am already in the middle of, unless there is somewhere else to put Unlikely Disciple?

Blue Sky July: A True Tale of Love, Light and 'Impossible Odds' might also work for Task 15.3.

Part B: "Read An Autobiography Or Biography Of A Woman You Admire (Book Must Also Have Been Written By A Woman)."

The blurb said this was an autobiography. Do you admire the author? If so then you could use it for this task.

Blue Sky July would also fit 5.9- Isn't it Romantic with "love" in the title
or
30.10 Theresa's color by numbers with happy "blue" in the title
or
30.7 as a multi-tasker

20.2 BETH MN'S TASK - REVISITING THE PAST
Choose Your Favorite Task From A Past Challenge. The Task You Choose Must Originally Have Been Worth 15 Points Or Higher. When You Claim Points, Let Us Know Which Challenge And Which Task You're Revisiting.

Former 25 point tasks:

6. Bonnie’s Task - Read A Book Outside Your Normal Genre(S). Example: Bonnie Usually Reads Ya, Fantasy, Nonfiction And Classics So She'd Have To Read Short Stories, Plays, Mysteries, Etc.

8. Sara's Task - Read A Book With A 12+ Word Title.

Former 30 point task:

30.2. Lizzi’s Task – Judge A Book By Its Cover. Select A Book Only Because You Love The Cover, And Post A Picture Or A Link So We Can See The Cover When You're Finished

Maybe you can also use it for Roseann's Resolution task 35.4. Your New Year's Resolution can be to be "greener" in 2010.

It would fit 30.10 Color by Numbers with green in the title

It won the Audie Award in 2009 so it fits 5.4 Winning Decade

According to the title page there are graphs used with permission from "Foreign Policy" so it sounds like there might be extra content- check with Bridgit for 25.9- The World of books

and since it fits 2 or more... 30.7 Jan's Multi-tasking works too.

message 77: by Sera (last edited Jan 20, 2010 06:10AM) (new)

Sera Thank you so much! I appreciate the help.

I was going to go with the multi-tasking one, but I'm not so sure now. At least I know that I can fit it in now, no problem.

Thank you, again, and for responding so quickly :) You all are very good at this.

The "Read Either Fiction Or Non-Fiction Book That Was First Published After The Death Of The Author" portion of Task 30.5 was at least one place.

scherzo♫ (pjreads) Sarah wrote: "Where did we say that The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society could fit?"

5.10 Alliteration ... Potato Peel Pie
25.8 Title 7 words or longer
25.9 Map
30.7 Multi-tasking

I think someone used it for 10.5 Popularity

message 84: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 172 comments Sarah wrote: "Where did we say that The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society could fit?"

I used it for 25.6 Island Dreams (UK).

5.4 - won the Costa Fiction Award
30.1 A - published in the last decade
30.7 - multitasking

also perhaps:
25.6 - if enough of the book is set in Ireland
5.2 - red white and blue (maybe too much grey)
15.9 - author never read before?

If it's not set in a fictious land, then it might not fit in any of the 5/10/15 point tasks. (You'd have to check the Chinese Zodiac Sign, etc. to verify.) If that's the case, then you could use it for Abigail's Odd Man Out -- Task 25.5

Card won a Nebula award prior to the year 2000, so it would work for Helen's Sci-Fi-- Task 30.2 (Part A)

Then of course it it qualifies for any two tasks you can use it for Jan's Multi-Tasking -- Task 30.7

It could possibly work for:
5.6 - IT'S A DIRTY JOB BUT… -
A. Read A Novel Where The Main Character Does A Job You Could Never Imagine Doing.
Could you be this parolled power broker?

25.3a - SARA NICOLE'S TASK - A GAME OF CLUE
A. Suspects - Scarlet, Peacock, Mustard, Green, Plum, Or White: Read A Book With A Cover That Very Predominantly Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple, Or White.
The cover looks like it's mostly green. Not sure which edition you are using, or the true color tones though.

25.5 - ABIGAIL'S TASK - ODD MAN OUT
Read One Book That Doesn't Fit Any Of The 5/10/15 Point Tasks For You.
If it doesn't work for 5.6, or Grisham doesn't share your Chinese Zodiac, then it might fit for this task.

25.9 - Does it have a map or any extra content?
25.10 - Do you REALLY like the cover?
30.1a - It WAS published in the past decade, so it could be used here.
30.6 - Vacation Dreams. Is this set mainly in Italy? Could you like to vacation there?
30.7 - Jan's Multi-Tasking Task: If you can answer yes to 2 of these tasks you can use it for this one.
