If my resolution is to start a family and to possibly get pregnant, could I use What to Expect Before You're Expecting and Anne's House of Dreams by L.M. Montgomery for the fiction, because she gets pregnant and "house of dreams" totally fits what I want for myself this year - dreams of building my home and family? Thanks!

My resolution is to be more at peace with myself. I chose The Battersea Park Road to Enlightenment for my fiction choice and The Inner Game of Stress for my non-fiction option.

Just checking my resolution and books to support.Resolution: Start a knitting group to make rectangles for afghans for wounded soldiers (Homemade Afghan Project).
Fiction: The Friday Night Knitting Club
Non-fiction: Zen and the Art of Knitting

Friday Night Knitting Club is a great book. The sequal Knit Two is also good.

Both are fine.
Just want to check...My resolution is to go on a real vacation in 2010 so I'll read
A Whirlwind Vacation and
Assassination Vacation
Are these OK?

Yes
Are these OK?"
My resolution is to go for more nature walks/hikes, so I'm planning on using Roddy Doyle's The Woman Who Walked into Doors for my fiction and Eric Blehm's The Last Season for my non-fiction. The latter's about a park ranger famous for rescuing lost hikers who is later lost himself. Not sure if the connection's too tenuous, so I'm in need of a ruling.

I'm assuming that You On A Diet The Owner's Manual for Waist Management & Such a Pretty Fat One Narcissist's Quest to Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, or Why Pie is Not the Answer will work for this challenge.I hope so cause I already started Such a Pretty Fat and it is hilarious!

Yup, that's fine!
My resolution is to walk 2 to 4 miles every day that I can (I have health issues and walking helps). The book I really want to read about my resolution is Just Walking by Clella Camp. The problem is it is 99 pages JUST ONE page short of the 100 pages. Can I read this and read an extra long fiction book to make up for it?
Ok this is what I have come up with for this task. My New Year's Resolution is to find romantic love, so I am going to read "loving" by Henry Green and "Keeping the Love you Find." Does this work?

I'm thinking of reading Richest Man in Babylon by George Clausen. Its written almost as a parable, but I'd like to use it as the non-fiction portion of the task. Its really about wealth management, and I'm not sure it qualifies as fiction. Any thoughts?
Garlan wrote: "I'm thinking of reading Richest Man in Babylon by George Clausen. Its written almost as a parable, but I'd like to use it as the non-fiction portion of the task. One resolution I'm considering for this task is: get more sleep! There are numerous non-fiction books of advice about getting more sleep. There is a science fiction book about genetically modified humans who no longer need sleep:
Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress
It's listed as #1 in the "Sleepless" trilogy. The summary says: "Many of us wish we could get by with less sleep. Beggars in Spain extrapolates that wish into a future where some people need no sleep at all. "
Would this fiction book be acceptable for the fiction part of the challenge?
My resolution is to work on my French so that by the end of the year I'll be able to speak it fluently. Could I read a vocabulary workbook or a book of French grammar for the nonfiction part of the task and The French Lieutenant's Woman for the fiction one?
one of my resolutions is to get more involved in photography and take pictures every day! for the NF portion of the task, i read holga: the world through a plastic lens, which was very cool and gave me some cool tricks to try with the holga camera i got for xmas. does anyone have any suggestions for fiction books with words like photograph/picture/film/camera etc. in the title?
Bunny wrote: "one of my resolutions is to get more involved in photography and take pictures every day! for the NF portion of the task, i read holga: the world through a plastic lens, which was very cool and gav..."Two books which I have marked as to-read are The Photograph by Penelope Lively and The Picture of Dorian Gray and Other Writings by Oscar Wilde. Not having read them I can't speak to if I enjoyed them, however I figured I'd throw them out there. Good luck!
