Review:
This was actually the first time I've read a Romantic Suspense from Julie Garwood. However, I was expecting something a lot more suspenseful when I read this. Don't get me wrong, the book was well written, but I didn't enjoy the huge jump in time between the beginning of the book and where the real story began. Michelle seemed too uptight for how she was portrayed in the beginning of the book. Theo was interesting, but seemed too week to be an Alpha hero Justice Department agent. The suspenseful part of the book was a more cerebral one, and at times the plot dragged because of it. Everything seemed to coalese into the last 100 pages of the book, and was resolved quickly. It came across to me as too much build up for a slightly disappointing ending. I did like the twist that came about concerning one member of the Sowing Club, I sure didn't see it coming! I might check out one or two more of the series, but not sure I'll read the entire set.

And here I thought Reaper's Legacy was good! This one blew it out of the water! It overlaps the events of Legacy, but we get to see it from Hunter/Liam's and Emmy's points of view instead of Sophie's. It also eventually moves past that and into new territory, which is some really interesting territory! The suspense is amped up in this book, and it is interesting to see these two form a lasting relationship even with all the club drama surrounding them. I loved how Liam fought for Em, and got their HEA. There is a lead in to the next book in the series in this one, so it really doesn't stand alone and must be read in order. That being said, it is totally worth starting the series!

Lucky Harbor books seem to come in threes with bridges attached! The first three books focused on The Traeger Sisters, and the next three seem to focus on a group of three female friends within the town. This book was the first of the new trio, Mallory's story. I found it to be much improved over the prior stories in the series! It kept my attention, really had me caring about Ty and Mallory and had me eager to see what would happen between the men slated for Amy and Grace. The supporting characters are individuals you really begin to care about and I hope we get to see more of Mallory and Mrs. B interacting with one another! I can't wait to get to the next book in the series!

I'm not all that emotional and it's really hard to actually make me shed tears, but I get choked up, get that tight feeling in my chest. I am going to make a judgement call and say that is what you need.)

Review:
This book was beyond cute. It was fluffy at times, but every book doesn't have to be deep and broody. Sometimes, fluffy is perfect, and this book was just that. When I first started reading, Will had me a bit worried. He seemed a teeny bit stalker-ish. But as I read further, I found out that it wasn't stalker behavior, it was unrequited love of the century behavior, which I've experienced myself.
I just could not put this book down. I plowed through it in only a few days, which is amazing considering the fact that I've been popping out of it to read other books, and to do non-reading stuff. I can't wait to read the first book in the series (which I had but didn't realize was part of the series until yesterday). I loved the characters (Mama Cherie was definitely my favorite), and even though the premise seemed really unbelievable (woman who's husband was cheating on her's children and woman doing a reality show), the book made it into something that seemed like it was the obvious thing to do. When I first read the summary, I thought it would be cringe-worthy reading about the reality show aspect of it, but thankfully it stopped before the show started taping. I'm not even sure it would have been bad if it had kept going, either, and that's really saying something.
Feel-good, fluffy bit of happiness. To all my friends that like romance novels and rom-coms, I recommend this at least a half dozen times. So. Freaking. Cute!

When one is stuck in bed all day, there is often not much to do but read. This book was fairly engrossing, and yet seemed almost too erotic for the time period. Victoria's shyness and phobia of the outdoors had me tearing up on several occasions, as well as how Johnathan kept working her past her fears. Victoria's business was intriguing, and I loved how her sisters each could be seen having their own heroes. I found it well written, for the most part, and yet I couldn't say it was worth a 4 star rating. I'm interested in continuing the series though, so I do hope the subsequent books will improve.

I wasn't as impressed with this installment as I was with the previous one. Amy was too secretive for my tastes, even with this being her book! The romance with Matt came off superficial and was plagued with one interruption after another. Riley's introduction and continuation in the story was awkward at best. The Chocoholic Friends came off annoying as well, and there were times where I just wanted to smack Mallory! There just wasn't much for me to connect to in this installment, and my enjoyment of it suffered.

This book wasn't my favorite of the series. In fact, it seems my enjoyment of the series is declining with every book. Rock and Vanessa have explosive chemistry, and yet they act on it at the most unrealistic times, to the detriment of themselves or the active storyline. The details of The Project seemed very far fetched, even with the aftermath of the second collapse of it. The book wasn't holding my attention enough to have me whip through it, and in fact, I wound up reading another book in the middle of it! Let's hope the next book is better...

Yay!
Were you going to try to get through all 4 books in the Reapers MC series next month? I'm a bit ahead of you, but if you get to Reaper's Stand and want a reading partner, I'd be happy to buddy read it and Reaper's Fall with you!

I picked them for you for FWYS!! Want to have me post in the Buddy Reads thread and ask for a thread to be set up for those for us? I totally wouldn't mind discussing Reaper's Legacy and Devil's Game with you! I'd even say we could read Silver Bastard too, just to get you really prepped to meet Ms. Wylde!
Also, just have to say, you lucky duck! I'd love to meet Ms. Wylde myself!

*laughs heartily* Don't worry about it, hun! I'll pop over there and ask for a thread.

I am such an idiot! I went to pick up these, and discovered that Reaper's Fall doesn't come out until November! Argh! I was looking forward to it too!

Book 1 Review:
This is my second time reading this author, and my second time for not enjoying the author's work. This book is different from the Kate Daniels series that I read, but my main complaint is that the characters are not approachable or likeable! Rose really isn't described or explained that well to my opinion. Rose had a hard time trusting, and I could never really figure out why. Declan was an arrogant jerk, but I could understand some of his reason for being that way. There's a great deal of world building done that never fully reaches its potential, as nothing ever seemed to happen with it. I was so bored with this book, I wound up reading a short novella in the middle of it to give myself a break! I'll likely not pick up another work by the author, even though others have recommended both this book and continuing with the Kate Daniels series, saying "It does get better..." I'm sorry, but having to slog my way through to the good stuff is not my idea of a fun and relaxing read.

Book 2 Review:
This book was extremely funny! I didn't understand the animosity between Rory and Connor, nor did I understand the complexity of Rory's relationship with her father, but it did give the book an interesting flavor. I loved how Connor showed just how much he cherished Rory, and the appearance of the Bradford family was a stroke of brilliance! Just the way to laugh myself out of a migraine!

Book 3 Review:
This is a bit of a flashback story, telling how the Bradford family got its start. I could also see where the James family from Checkmate fit into the situation as well. I found the information very interesting, to be sure! The characters in the story acted a lot like the characters in Checkmate, which was slightly tedious as I read this right on the heels of that book. It also didn't really have the humor that I associate with this series, but I found it to be a delightful addition to the series as a whole.

I'm not exactly sure how to go about reviewing this book. I loved it, of course. It was as good as the movie, if not better (most likely better). Maybe because it was less of a book, and more of an "experience." More than almost any other book I've ever read, this one drew me in. It was almost exhausting to read at times, which is why it took me so long to finish. This is not a book I would ever recommend a person reading in one sitting, or even two or three. It has to be stretched out, so as to not completely overwhelm you. Again, I have to say that I absolutely adored it. It was just so unbelievably heavy. Five stars and then some.

Even at the age of 31, this book still made me feel like I was a teenager again every time I picked it up to read it. This is both a blessing and a curse, because the teen years, especially high school, were awkward as hell. I could relate to Charlie a lot better than I could a lot of other main characters in a lot of YA fiction because not only was he an outcast, but he also had mental problems. You don't see that very often, and when you do, it's rarely done as well as this book was. The letter format was a bit off-putting in the beginning, but once I got used to it, each letter just flew by so fast. You could feel his pain and his happiness and everything as if you were him, or at least as if you were the person these letters were being sent to (though they never said who that was, and that was probably my only complaint). I loved this book, and think just about everybody should read it, either to let them know there were others out there just like them (I doubt a book like this would be so popular if there were so few people that could relate to Charlie), or to show them what it was like for the other kids, the ones that weren't so perfect and popular.

When I need a pick me up, I know that I can turn to these books and end up finishing the book with a sore belly and sides and a huge grin on my face from laughing so hard. This book was no exception to that formula, and I enjoyed the antics happening in this book.
Danny's former military with a pretty severe injury, but he's sick of everyone treating him with kid gloves. Jodi is reeling from a really crappy ex-fiance, and hasn't the ability to make a financial move because of him. The live as neighbors and do their best to get on each other's nerves, but wind up falling in love instead.
The book had me tearing up in several places, but I loved how real everyone felt. Danny's nickname for Jodi was great and fit her perfectly, which had me smiling every time he said it. All in all, it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

This was actually a pretty good installment! It had never before mentioned members of the Lucky Harbor Community, and a bit more of a suspense story than normal. I liked seeing the underlying emotion that we did and enjoyed the "quiet" romance that grew between Luke and Ali, despite the turmoil that surrounded them. It felt shorter than normal, but was still a good way to distract me from my own troubles of the day.

I'm going to hold off on rolling until I hear back from you guys. I'm good with stopping here or continuing on, depending on what you guys want to do.

The only problem I see is that gameplay ends when all regular spaces on the board are taken. Even with me waiting a week or more to read the book I choose for the spot, I'm going to wind up finishing the game too quickly, even with the spaces that require 2, 3, and 4 books to complete.
I'm thinking I should just drop out completely and just kinda manage the game for you and Sadie. I think I just read too fast for this game.

Monopoly Rules
• You do not need to wait for the other player to finish reading before you take your next turn. As soon as you're done reading, go ahead and roll.
• Each property is represented by a shelf. For each grouping of shelves/properties you would read a certain amount of books from that shelf. Once you finish the amount of books you would then “Own” that shelf.
• If you land on an “owned” shelf you would have to read a certain amount of books above what the owner had to read.
• If one person “owns” all of the books in a group (think Mediterranean and Baltic) and another player lands on their properties they would be able to recommend at least one of the books that the player has to read.
• Utilities – For the Electric Company – Read a book where the characters have electric chemistry. For Water Works – Read a book that makes you cry. Books have to be 150 pages or more.
• If a player lands on an “Owned” utility, then the owner will recommend a book with electric chemistry or that makes them cry.
• Railroads – For Reading Railroad – Read whatever you want. For Pennsylvania Railroad – Read a book set in Pennsylvania. For B&O Railroad – Read a book that someone else thought stunk. For Short Line – Read a novella. Page minimum 150 for all but Short Line. 25 page minimum for the novella.
• If a player lands on an “owned” railroad, the owner will recommend a book for that specific railroad.
• Chance and Community Chest – there are 12 cards for each. If a player lands on one of those spots they will roll the dice a second time and then would “pull” the corresponding card and do whatever it says on the card. Once a card is used, it will be out of play unless needed to finish the game. Books for this would need to be at least 150 pages.
• Being in Jail – To get out of jail you would need to have one of the get out of jail free cards, roll doubles on one of your next three turns or read a book where a character is arrested or has been in jail. Books for this would need to be 150 pages or more.
• Just Visiting – Read a novella of your choice, 50 page minimum
• Free Parking – Read any book 100 pages or more
• Go – Read any book of 200 pages or more
