Julie Unless I missed it, I don't think there have been any other suggestions for may. I was trying to think of something quite different, and this would definitely qualify as unlike any of the other books we've tried.

Anna | 18 comments I would say I'm in, but seeing as I seem to be completely incapable of following anything through at the moment, I'm reluctant to.

Looks like a book I would be interested in, though.

Pam | 87 comments Can we do it differently? Instead of waiting to discuss a book until everyone has read it, can we discuss as we read?

Seems like that'd work especially well with a memoir, where there isn't a plot to be spoiled.

Anna | 18 comments It sounds like a good idea, although I'd take issue with 'there isn't a plot to be spoiled' - in reading a memoir, you might not want to know how things turn out.

But posts can always be headed 'spoilers' to give a reader who isn't as far on as the others a heads-up not to read the whole post.

Julie It feels like interest is fading in the books as we move closer to the time to start talking about them, which makes me think talking earlier might be more helpful.

Depending on the book, perhaps it could be sliced into 100 page sections with separate threads for each? I'd like to encourage participation rather than stifle it, and I'm afraid the way I've set it up so far is stifling.

Pam | 87 comments Julie, that sounds workable. Pages or chapters, however the book's set up.

Jamie Collins (jamie_goodreads) | 77 comments I think it's a great idea to discuss the book as we're reading it.

(Sorry, I won't do this particular read, but I hope to participate in the next one.)

Cassa | 38 comments Luvtinayothers asked me to start a group read for "Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves" by P. G. Wodehouse in another thread (or anything by that author, really); I'm reluctant to wait until May to read it, myself. I'm also not sure of the protocol and etiquette of starting/keeping-up of a group read thread.

I suppose I'm just tossing out an idea, then, rather than being of any real help. If I (or anyone) were to start a group read for this, would it have to be a monthly thing, waiting until May?

Julie I think both books can co-exist for May. They will likely attract different readers, and are certainly not redundant. And the dates are more about giving people time to get the books and participate, not an attempt to limit discussion.

I've started folders for both. The threads within the folders should allow for in-progress discussion (I hope).
