SOLVED. Childs long book- litle elf thing and his adventures [s]

I don't remember a whole lot about this book because it was a long time ago that I read it ( probably back in like 2005ish). I remember a young boy with pointy shoes and possibly pointy ears too but it never talked about his parents ( i think the subject came up but nothing was really said a bout them). his best friend is a boy who lives in town and when ever they get together the boy with pointy ears ( I think his nae was Tish but I can't find any books with that name in them) says something like "did i ever tell you about the time...." and begins to tell his friend about these wild and fantasy type stories about his travels across the world. I remember one story had to do with this really scary story that had to do with a forest and beasts with red eyes that chased him. I know the young boys father showed up several times because they were at his house few times. the thing i remember the most was how big it was. probably like 800-900 pages but they were all black and white pictures with only a few sentences. It was also more like a giant collection of books than a chapter book because each story had its own tittle and could probably be read by itself.

The Big Big Big Book of Tashi - or one of its variants. There's a few of them now, all by Anna Fienberg. They were fairly small books originally, but they've been combined into large omnibus editions which are really very big for kids books.
