I read this book in print sometime in 2004. The plot line escapes me but I remember the book was published around the 1970s and the cover had a big green dollar sign against a black background.

Some bits a pieces of the plot line are that a group of people are trying to win some sort of cash prize or inheritance.

That's it. I know it's not much, but this is a shot in the dark.
