Adeselna (adeselnaferreira) | 7 comments In Portugal, Terry Goodkind books are being split into two. Now the two first novels we managed to combine witht he 1st volume in English. The second one Stone of tears comes out in portuguese and we tried to combine with the second one in English, however a librarian keeps changing and saying because it's the third one in portuguese we have to combine it with a version that says #3. While we are trying to combine it with the second one in English she changed back to the German one.

Here are the links:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Are we doing it wrong? I mean the first two are combined with the English version, shouldn't we combine the second also with the English one? Won't that confuse the readers?

Again so sorry to bother you but we are just trying to make it right.
EDIT: She also changed now the first two to the German version... We tried to message her but she says she is doing it right because it is the third book in Portuguese :| But often Portuguese readers go to GoodReads to check the order and if they see it's the third one they will think that the second one was not published...

Best regards

lethe | 16361 comments I think you copied the links from your message(?). That doesn't work, they lead to Harry Potter now.

Volumes that are split in two shouldn't be combined with the complete volume, so she is right about that. I don't know if the German volumes are also split in two. If they are, they can be combined with the Portuguese ones.

Empress (the_empress) To add to Lethe, the series have translated editions that are split in two or three parts. You need to combine with the appropriate edition. That is why librarians leave notes. Just read where it says "first half of" and "second half of"

First part of second book can be combined with https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
and the second part with: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Which seems to correspond to the German series numbering, if that is what you mean by changing to the German version.

You need to separate those editions from the first book and combine appropriately with the first and second half of book 1.

Empress (the_empress) I have separated two editions of "La fe de los caídos" for merging purposes, please do not re-combine with anything. A super-librarian will do that.

Adeselna (adeselnaferreira) | 7 comments Then it is probably better to just create a serie in Portuguese with the numbers from the Portuguese edition, otherwise people will make the mistake of thinking it's the 3rd one when it's the first half of the second book. It really sucks that we can't combine the two parts to the original in English, people usually go to GR to see the order and by combining it with different a German edition will confuse them :( (people were messaging me telling me that why on earth was our edition combined with the German as they had no idea if it was even the correct one).

Empress (the_empress) That is why I think all alternate-numbers series should be titled in English, however it is not for you or me to make such decisions.
