Hi everyone,

Surrounded By Bastards Surrounded By Bastards by Bryan Smith

New crime novel by Brian Smith. Is .99 right now and something different from what we usually read.

message 5: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments Sounds good Justin. Will it be .99 cents for long?

message 6: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
Not sure

message 7: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
Looks like the sale ended is 2.99 now. Sorry

message 8: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments That's ok. I realized it's a kindle-unlimited title so if it wins, I can read it.

message 9: by Andy (new)

Andy (manicsloth) | 787 comments I'd love to reread the first few dresden books... and keep reading 'em.

message 10: by Andy (new)

Andy (manicsloth) | 787 comments I nominate either Desperation by Stephen King Desperation or Insomnia by Stephen King Insomnia, two more recent King classics that I need to cross off my list. Anyone interested?

I could be tempted by Desperation but not until June/July.

message 12: by Paul (new)

Paul Nelson (pauln) How's about Donna Tartt - The Goldfinch or Lonesome Dove. Couple of biggies there.

message 13: by Andy (new)

Andy (manicsloth) | 787 comments I've wanted to read Lonesome Dove forever.

message 14: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments I never finished the goldfinch. I'd be down with that one. It's a huge read though.

I'd like to read this eventually someday before I die. It's huge though so it doesn't necessarily have to be today.

Some good suggestions! I'll nominate Last Days Last Days by Adam Nevill , looks like a hell of a scary read.

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
Oops, I forgot to set up the poll. I'll have it done shortly.

message 18: by Kate (new)

Kate | 1106 comments Mod
Just put up the poll.

message 19: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments I voted for Last Days and went to check how much it is and much to my delight, I found that I had purchased it a year ago and still haven't read it..lol. Hope it wins!

It looks good and if it wins I will look for a copy and join, I'm rooting for surrounded by bastards though.

message 22: by Paul (new)

Paul Nelson (pauln) Every books a winner on this poll, there's six books I really want to read, we should read 2 :)

message 23: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
We don't have enough participation for two. we barely have enough people for one and if you split it in half with two books you might as well just skip the group read and do budy reads instead. You could always suggest a budy read though.

message 24: by Justin (new)

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
There are a couple that I would budy read If they didn't win.

I would too Justin! I've had a copy of Storm Front on my shelf for ages and there's a Stephen King challenge going on around here somewhere...and the Bryan Smith book is on unlimited so that's good too.

message 26: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 600 comments I just joined this group--can't wait to see what titles are up. I need a group read that I can take my time with for once! ;)

message 27: by Paul (new)

Paul Nelson (pauln) Hi Kim, slow reading is the way forward. I must say there is 4 books I really want to read here, the Bryan Smith & Adam Nevill + the two I suggested earlier, so if any one wants to buddy read after the votes in and the books finished.

message 28: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 600 comments The Adam Nevill was my second choice--I'd be in for a buddy read of that.

Yay, Kimberly's here! There's a poll for next month's read up now.

I'd definitely like to set up some buddy reads once the poll is over and we know what the group read is going to be.

I blew an Audible credit on this today in case it comes up again.

I think it's like 30+ hours but I'm down for that.

message 43: by Paul (new)

Paul Nelson (pauln) I've got the audio but the time is putting me off, same as swan song at 30+ hours, would take me month. That would be perfect for a paced read/listen though.
