Finished Ch. 5 and I'm liking it so far.

Ethan (view spoiler)[ seriously needs to let go of his anger and his goal of getting revenge. His "fury" and his bitterness are definitely like a cancer eating away at him. What Cricket and Spencer did might have been done in the wrong way, but we ALL have to let go of someone who doesn't love us anymore. I worry about his drinking and his spiral downward. I was REALLY worried when he was going to get those knives out of his car and go after Spencer. Thank GOD he stopped himself. (hide spoiler)]

Finley (view spoiler)[appears to be a better friend than Ethan even realizes or gives her credit for. So far I like her character. She's obviously been through the "wanting revenge" and downhill spiral. I wonder what happened to her. (hide spoiler)]

Cricket (view spoiler)[didn't appear to be really in love with Ethan. I wonder if she was using him for her kidney. She was part of the wrong done to Ethan (if there was wrong), but he is only hell-bent on getting revenge on Spencer. You'd think Spencer FORCED her the way Ethan 100% blames him. (hide spoiler)]

I do feel bad (view spoiler)[for Ethan because he is so devastated by his loss of Cricket. I hate to see anybody so heartbroken, but he's going about it all wrong! (hide spoiler)]

I couldn't go to sleep, so I read chapter 6. It's pretty good so far, but I feel it's a bit elementary. The lesson being taught here is very clear so far.

Finley (view spoiler)[is a straight shooter. I can't believe that she got Ethan to leave the bar AND got the knives from him.

I felt horrible for her when she told him the story of how her mother treated her and tore up her little dress. Stories like that KILL me because they are reality for too many children. So sad! I assume this is the reason she at one time went through what Ethan is now going through.

But Finley seems to have overcome a lot and I think she learned to let go of that desire for revenge. I really like her character. She's a strong female. (hide spoiler)]

Going to bed now...1:58 AM...have to get up in 4 hours. WHY do I do this to myself? LOL At least they students have a test tomorrow and I won't have to teach. I'll be reading a little while they test, if I can without falling asleep. LOL

You know what? I was fine. Lol Weird, huh?

I got very little reading done though because I had to inventory of all my computers and cameras, etc. It is time consuming. Plus today was the last day for students to pre-order their books so I had kids popping in all day. I ended up depositing over $2000. Then around 2:40 an office girl called me saying that the truck carrying our yearbooks was due to arrive in 10-15 minutes and they weren't expected until Monday.

We still don't have half our electricity in our house. All of our outlets work but none of our light switches do. So frustrating! My husband crawled up in the attic today. He hadn't found any wires gone bad and our circuits are all good so he's baffled. Lol Poor guy.

Finley (view spoiler)[obviously has a reason for not sharing with Ethan. If she's going to help girls from sex trafficking that's quite honorable and dangerous. I even wondered for a minute if she was going to prostitute herself after all she's been through. There was talk of her not being as nice as she portrays herself to be, and she works in a Hooters type place, but I doubt she'd go for prostitution. It's AWFUL what her mom did. Disgusting! I think the trip is going to be (view spoiler)[good for Ethan especially. He depends far too much on her. I think that is too much pressure for one person to be another's EVERYTHING. Hopefully they will both learn to live without being desperate for the other to be their "savior." (hide spoiler)]

Finished Ch. 15

I'm actually conflicted about (view spoiler)[Ethan going to Vietnam, only because she told him she needed to do this alone and she obviously did not want to tell him what she was doing. So by going online and finding out I do feel like he didn't respect her right to privacy; however, I am glad that now that he is there I feel a little better about her being there. LOL (hide spoiler)]

I also enjoyed reading about Vietnam. It must have been a real (view spoiler)[culture shock, though. And what were the odds of finding the group and her so fast! LOL I loved that Fin made him get on her bike and take a back seat. LOL (hide spoiler)]

I not only wouldn't (view spoiler)[buy a one way ticket, but I'd be too chicken to go alone in the first place! Heck no! What Fin is doing IS dangerous. But you called it: sex trafficking. That's a really good fight to partake in, but dangerous in several ways! (hide spoiler)]

I cracked up when Ethan (view spoiler)[went on the boat with Father Connolly and it seemed like he was a giant on it. His legs hanging off and his head touching the ceiling. I loved it. I'm glad he decided not to sneak out and see Fin. (hide spoiler)]

My goodness, how quickly the (view spoiler)[action began! I don't know how Ethan managed to protect the Father and Fin during the gunfire, but he's definitely skilled, fast, and a quick thinker. But it was awful to have to deal with the murder of that woman. Ugh... (hide spoiler)]

I hope that the man (view spoiler)[who showed up to rescue the Father is able to do so and that he really is the rescuer. (hide spoiler)]

Finished Ch. 25

Ch. 21 (view spoiler)[ broke my heart. Phong knows his sister's days of disappearance to the second, it seems. It would be HORRIBLE pretty much knowing that someone you love is in sexual slavery! And the frustration of KNOWING where some girls are enslaved but not being able to do a thing about it...ugh!!! And furthermore, they can't fully trust cops OR judges. They are up against SO much! I can't believe all of the (view spoiler)[action every time they go out to the streets. With Ethan taking knives, I was expecting something to happen like he'd kill someone, but I'm glad he didn't have to. I couldn't believe how Ethan saved the 11 year old girl. He was definitely taking a risk, and I fear that if he keeps doing that eventually he'll lose. But I am glad he saved her. That's one little girl who will be saved a miserable life! (hide spoiler)]

Wow! Ethan (view spoiler)[is an amazing fighter, but dang! He killed several men when he was set up, but he had a conscience, right? I'm surprised that Fin didn't guess or at least wonder since she "reads him" so well. I'm glad he didn't burden her with it, but I almost think she and Father should know. It's too bad that there weren't any girls to save that time. He saved over 20 girls total and that's great! (hide spoiler)]

Ethan and Fin (view spoiler)[really do seem to be a good match. I am glad that she understood why he did what he did when he went in that house to save some girls. He is doing it to "fix", in some small way, Fin's miserable young life. (hide spoiler)]

I'm worried that (view spoiler)[Ethan might be going too far trying to cover up what he's done. I know he wants to protect Fin, but I think that enough has happened that he needs to just fess up and let her know that he has saved all those girls and it ended up with the death od those men.

My biggest concern is that he is breaking the law in a foreign country. (hide spoiler)]

Oh my gosh! Ethan (view spoiler)[is CRAZY but I'm so glad he saved all those kids! I thought the book was ending with his death when they said he'd died! I'm glad he didn't die, but I hate it that it appears he and Fin won't be able to be together. Maybe the author has a solution for that, too. (hide spoiler)]

When Ethan (view spoiler)[took out SO many men and saved so many kids at once, I just couldn't believe that he was that brave to do that; however, I thought his cutting off that one guys thumb went over the board. That grossed me out. What bothers me is that he equates himself to Khanh and he is one despicable human being...animal! God! I hate to think (know) that there ARE such people in this world. DISGUSTING!!! (hide spoiler)]

I really do hope that when Ethan (view spoiler)[turns himself in that he'll somehow be given a reprieve and he'll be let off the hook. I mean he killed a lot of men, and he was being a vigilante, but he saved SO many kids. I'm crossing my fingers for him and Fin! (hide spoiler)]

I really liked the book; however, I had issues with the poor editing of it. That always is SO distracting for me and reduces my pure joy of reading a book that needs editing.

The last few chapters were like HOLY MOLY! Ethan (view spoiler)[got a break, thank God! I figured he would, but I hadn't expected that Tran had a missing daughter. YAY! Ethan and Fin are happily married, helping the sex trafficking victims AND expecting. I love it! (hide spoiler)]

I'm done too. I agree, I was distracted by misspells and sentences that didn't make sense....it's so odd, but I did like the story.

I think it was just (view spoiler)[ for me, off to have Ethan and Fin holding each other imagining kissing each other after someone was gunned down in the street and other parts like that. I would find it SO HARD to even THINK about being intimate when you are there living with women who were kidnapped and shoved into the sex trade. I mean, just, ugh.

I did love(view spoiler)[ that they moved to Costa Rica. It's one of the #1 places kids are abducted in the world. and they are taken for sex trafficing. isn't that terrifying.
