What do you do with books that you finish reading or don't want anymore ?

I keep all my books. Even the bad ones. But someday I may have to donate/recycle/throw some of the books in my library because space is running out. But that day hasn't arrived yet.
I don't know any secondhand bookshop in M'sia that will buy books from walk-ins. They get their supply from their distributor. Try donating it to friends and family. You may turn someone into a bookworm with your generosity.

Nope. The 2nd hand bookshops in Amcorp Mall get their books from their distributors. I know 'cause I've asked. Like I said in my post above, M'sian 2nd hand bookshops don't buy from walk-ins. They get it from their distributors.

The thing is my mom is yelling at me because my book rack is running out of space and i'm stacking new books else where ....and it kind of messy
I tried giving the book to my family but like me they don't want the bad books ....huhuhuh

Or, try bookmooch, paperbackswap, swaptree. I've never tried but the concept of swapping books sounds utopian, no?
Ebay?
Bookcrossing is an excellent idea. And no they don't throw the books away. I left some of my books at the Bookcrossing outlet at 1Utama (erm, the only Bookcrossing stall in M'sia, right?) and several people picked the books up because I was notified of it via email. Which is nice.
Books causing a mess is required if you're a bookworm. People who stack all their books nicely on shelves are not really readers. They just want to appear to be readers. A real bookworm would have books stacked all over the place.

Bookcrossing is a concept where you just leave your book (with a bookcrossing sticker somewhere on the book) and then if anyone picks it up, they can notify the bookcrossing site who will then notify you via email (that's the point of the sticker). But actually you don't need the sticker if you don't care who picks it up. Just leave it at the bookshelf at the Bookcrossing section at the ground floor just outside Parkson @ 1Utama. I don't know if it's still there. I understand the M'sian bookcrossing idea is an experiment. They will expand it if it's successful but I haven't heard anything new lately.
In the US, the Bookcrossers just leave their books anywhere they want: at park benches, at bus terminals, train stations.

Maybe your aunt could consider having an area for guests to leave their books for some other guests' reading pleasure? (Lost and found? If I were to find a lost book, no, definitely finder's keepers hahaha)

What's Chowrasta? And is there really lots of places for 2nd-hand books at Amcorp Mall? With Pay Less Books going warehouse-sale-style (I keep missing it), I'm finding it difficult to locate older books I'd like to keep.
Oh, for the the topic, I actually like to hold on to all my books - personal library :D

David: Just when i thought i could spread the news about bookcrossing...that's when its gone LOL
Yeah i think AMCorp Mall might be the only mall i've been to that has lots of book store ...second hand, Book Xcess, and payless, popular and some other shops that sell only magazines ...pretty cool ....ya got o check it out....
The books i want to give away are not the ones i bought ....it was given by people when they found in hotels LOL ...so most books are not really good too much romance for my liking ....
If you have books that you don't want to read anymore and does not want them to clutter your space, perhaps you could list them here. Maybe we could open a new thread for that like 'Books available for swap/give away'. Something to that effect if you get what I mean. And then siapa2 yang mahu that book could notify you and made arrangement for pickup/delivery.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

Atleast i know someone is taking good care of it LOL

So, of the five requests I make, four would be rejected. But I have been very lucky these past few weeks. I've received one book from Australia and waiting for another one to arrive from Ireland. Which reminds me, I have to post a book to someone in Ireland also.
I love the feeling of receiving a new book in the mail. So I don't really understand why some of the members, especially the Americans refuse to do so citing rising postage costs as a reason. Masalahnya, it costs me RM22 to post a paperback to the US the other day. It's expensive, yes, but you don't see me complaining.
It would be nice to have more people in Malaysia joining Bookmooch, so I can mooch from them :)
Suzieanna, tengok awak punya wishlist kat bookmooch tu banyak Agatha Christie. Nak saya punya ke? Sbb saya dah upgrade ke omnibus editions, jadi yg edition yg lama-lama tu tak nak dah. Erm, tapi buku bukan pristine...edition lama, cover mungkin ada "dog-eared" sikit tapi keseluruhannya boleh dibaca.
I think I should join this bookmooch thingy. There are 47 Msians there already.

Sebenarnya, saya tak kisah kalau buku tu dog-eared or not. Janji boleh baca dan tak ada missing pages lah. Nanti tak puas baca pulak :)
So how do we go about it?
