I recall the introduction of a run-down farm in which the heroines family owned. I believe the father of the family had been in jail, leaving the mother to run the farm by herself. There were two families, both despising each other for past feuds. I remember the heroine attending high school, and using a fake name so people would not know who she is. When doing this she gained the trust of the teenage boy of her family's enemy and soon began a relationship with him. When meeting his family she somehow got her hands on a chest of old journals which belonged to her ancestor; thus explaining why she had a connection with the journals' author.
