JudiAnne (judipatooti) Hi Julia, welcome. We had the opportunity to visit Nova Scotia on a cruise ship a couple of years ago. What we saw was fantastic. I would like to go back on a ferry or just drive (we live in Buffalo, not far from Ontario), so that we could take our car and explore inland. I'm sure it would be a great experience. I am, of course, an Anne of Green Gables fan, myself being reheaded and was precocious as a child, I identified with her. Ontario is also beautiful!

Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews (silversreviews) Hello:

I have been posting, but not sure I wrote something about myself...forgive me if I did.

I live in Pennsylvania and work full-time as a business teacher. My reading is the highlight of my day. :) I also love to cook and bake.

I have a blog with all my reviews and photos of my trip to Scotland last summer.

Nice to meet and talk to everyone.

Stop by my blog if you like.

Melissa Hello to everyone and thank you to Rick for the friend request and group invite. This looks like a great group and I'm looking forward to tip toeing through the threads. I've been on Goodreads since 2007 and have been a reader my whole life. I love books. All types of books. I love reading books, reading about books, shopping for books, talking about books, well...you get the point. I also love movies, especially the "oldies but goodies" movies so this group will be quite a treat for me. My husband, three kids and I live in Michigan where the weather is pretty terrible most of the time, but it doesn't tend to get too violent so we put up with it. I don't work, instead I do the hundreds of little things that keep my loved ones clothed, fed and able to go out and function in the world. I also volunteer at the elementary school and the local animal shelter. At all other times, I am reading. I'm also an incurable insomniac, but hey, books can be read any time of the day and that's what dvd's are for.

I'm off to have a look around...

Holly Weiss (hollyweiss) Hello all, My name is Holly Weiss and I am happy that Rick invited me to join the group. My main love is historical fiction. I am a teacher of singing, author and reviewer of books. I am also a polio survivor and advocate for Eradicate Polio Now.
My book, Crestmont, is set at a bustling summer inn during the 1920s. A giveaway and interview just came out at http://bit.ly/g4GKXx
if you'd like to check it out.

Your group sounds very well-rounded. I look forward to reading with you.

Holly Weiss (hollyweiss) Hi, again. I thought I introduced myself, but most not have hit "post". My name is Holly Weiss. I love historical fiction. I am a former professional singer, current voice teacher and author of Crestmont. I enjoy reviewing newly published books. A polio survivor, I am an advocate for Eradicate Polio Now, an international effort by Rotary.

Do we have a group read here and if so, where might I find it? I poked around a bit and didn't see it. Then again, there are so many posts! Thank you.

You can find me at http://www.hollyweiss.com. I look forward to enjoying this group. Thanks, Rick, for the invitation.

message 1780: by Bill (new)

Bill Hello, all. I'm a graphic designer, multimedia producer, and occasional writer, living in Pittsburgh, PA with my wife, college-student daughter, sheltie, maltichon, and 5 cats.

I've been a SciFi/Fantasy geek since I was a wee kid. In high school I devoured LOTR, Dune, and Thomas Covenant. In college, it was David Eddings, the Foundation Series, and Piers Anthony. Lately, I've been all about Simmons' Hyperion series, Alastair Reynolds, Steven Erikson's Malazan Books and D.M. Cornish's Half-Continent books.

Recently finished World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, currently reading Factotum and looking forward to The Name of the Wind.

Bill Briggs (billbriggs) | 3 comments Hi everybody. Excited to be here - especially today. Rick, thank you for the nice invite.

My book, "The Third Miracle" - a nonfiction exploration of highly secretive Catholic miracle investigations - debuts today. The narrative is anchored by the Church's scrutiny of a claimed supernatural healing in Indiana in 2001 - 93 years after a nun said she was cured of terminal cancer on the same ground. The twist: the man at the center of the 2001 case, a convent caretaker, wasn't particularly religious and wasn't so sure he even believed in miracles. Follow the caretaker from Indiana to Rome (where he was dubbed "The Miracle Man") as he searches for inner peace with the surreal events. Hope you enjoy.

I look forward to dropping in on the many conversations here!

Crazy week for me (book launches today) so my posts here will be sporadic until I can catch my breath.

In time, I would love to answer any questions you have about the book - and discuss with you some of the colorful mysteries it attempts to dissect.

Nadine Keels (nadine_keels) | 113 comments Greetings, all!

I'm Nadine, an author and a book lover, invited here by Rick. I LOVE reading and writing. I've always been quite a bookworm, I think, but I've become more of a manuscript worm over the past couple of years or so. I discovered Goodreads a few months ago, and it actually rekindled my love for reading!

Helena Thanks for the invite, Rick.

Hi All, I’m an avid reader of just about any genre. I think I may actually have an addiction to books- I start to panic a bit if I’m without one to read before bed. I’ve been known to read various pamphlets, cereal boxes, and instruction manuals when I am deprived of reading material. I look forward to meeting like minded individuals... so I don’t feel so alone (wink).

Mark Johansen | 11 comments Hi. My name is Mark, I got an invite from Rick, he's apparently working hard to make this the largest book forum in the history of the world.

Mostly I like to read science fiction and history. These days I'm reading more political stuff. My favorite writer of all time is GK Chesterton.

I've published two books, "A Sane Approach to Database Design" and "No Errors in My Bible, Sorry About Yours". I've also contributed chapters to several textbooks: "Population", "Crime and Criminals", and "Women's Rights". But I'm hoping to branch out more in the future.
