$1.99 Kindle deal on bestselling thriller: Hi, all, my thriller Wave of Terror - a Kindle bestseller in International Crime & Mystery - is on special through the end of the month. Inspired by a potential real-life catastrophe, the book weaves together suspense, science, witty dialogue, and a topspin of romance. 4.23 stars on Goodreads; loads of fun... Thanks! Jon Jefferson
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...I've just posted the first in a series of blogs recounting the story - the stories, actually - behind Wave of Terror. If you're interested in a peek behind a writer's curtain, check out the blog!
Hi everyone!
I write nonfiction thrillers about WWII espionage. My first book, INTO THE LION'S MOUTH, was about the spy who inspired Ian Fleming's James Bond.
My second book, CODE NAME: LISE (Gallery/Simon & Schuster, Jan. 15, 2019), is about Odette Sansom, the most decorated spy of WWII, and the most highly decorated woman of the war. It's a story much like UNBROKEN, only Louis Zamperini is a woman, and CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, only the chasing FBI agent (Tom Hanks in the movie) is Germany's top spy-catcher.
And since Odette and her commanding officer fall for each other, there's a love story here as well. And all true!
It's available for pre-order now on Amazon. For details, see my website: www.LarryLoftis.com. I'm on Twitter and Facebook as well.
Cheers,
Larry
Hi Rick,I appreciate the opportunity to join the group. I am fairly new to Goodreads...still confused getting from A to B let alone A to C, but each 3 hours of experimenting seems to uncover one new secret.

Hi RickMy pen name is Jennifer Mason, under which name I have five novels. There are real Jennifer Mason authors, and, I think, others with that PN.

Hi! I was a member of this group years ago, so I thought I'd introduce myself again. I'm Katherine Mayfield, and I'd like to invite you to a virtual launch party for my latest memoir, "Emma's Gift: Furry Friends through Many Lifetimes." Here's the link:https://www.facebook.com/events/69369...
Thank you! Happy reading!

Hi and thanks for letting me in! I'm a mystery writer with a background that includes wonderful years at MGM studios. Although I left the film industry, I was persuaded to write a screenplay not so long ago. it was recently released (www.teatathemovie.com) and has won a number of awards, so that's gratifying. I only started writing mystery novels when I was trying to think how to do away with a philandering husband. I thought it was probably just therapy because I murdered his rearend really well. To my surprise, it was published by the first house I submitted it to, then picked up by Harlequin World Wide Mysteries and has never been out of print since! All of my mysteries can be found at www.estherluttrell.com. Please drop by! I'm a passionate reader of mysteries and love to encourage new writers just breaking into the field. Cross-promotion is so important. If anyone wants to discuss the subject, let me know!
Hi all,I'm Debbi and I'm not sure when I got invited here, but I'm obviously quite late for the party! :)
Anyway, it's great to find a place on GoodReads where people talk books and movies. And TV shows! :)
FYI, I've written and published four mystery novels, one thriller and one YA novel. Plus some short stories. And two movie review collections.
And James Mason was awesome!
Cheers,
Debbi
Max Sparrow] I have been looking for weeks for a place that I could share what I write without feeling uneasy. My short stories do not fit the standard of any of the current categories, and close friends shame me for not writing romance... If you have not read The Bell Jar--- you must read it. It is a brilliant book that I follow in design..... I hope this group turns out to be a breath of fresh air!I am Max Sparrow. :)

Hello, James Mason. I don't know why I assumed the club was about the Revolutionary War hero, but it's probably because I live in the 19th century so much of the time! (Everyone has to live somewhere.) The best book that I just finished was "Overstory" by Richard Powers. It will change your life and make you plant ten trees--just to start. I hope you'll all read my own new novel, The Tubman Command, based on Harriet Tubman's daring raid during the Civil War to rescue 756 people in one go. Her story is as daring--and real--as it gets. People may wonder how a woman could do what she did. Her story shows that only a woman would.

Hi there, my name is David Kempf. I enjoy horror, science fiction and fantasy books. I also write them. I am a big fan of James Mason and that is why I joined this group. https://www.amazon.com/David-Kempf/e/...
Hello! I am Conrad Taylor, a West Point and MIT graduate. The Smithsonian Institute displays my memoir, PATH to FREEDOM: My Story of Perseverance, in its Anacostia Museum Library.
If you love nonfiction, which reads like a novel, now may be a good time to pre-order your paperback copy of the Revised Edition of PATH to FREEDOM (https://amzn.to/2HSc1DH). Amazon will begin delivering the multiple award-winning book soon after its 6/24/2019 release.
More than a memoir, the historically-accurate PATH to FREEDOM provides a unique prism through which to see the cultural trauma of emigration, the unique experience that is West Point, the personal side of Cold-War-era geopolitics, and the mayhem of Third World politics. The view will be nostalgic for some, shocking to many, and enlightening for others.
Like the original, the Revised Edition of PATH to FREEDOM is a truth-is-stranger-than-fiction story with a simple proposition. Fly-or-die!

I also love British Literature.
I have published two stories for children (translations of the works of a progressive Iranian writer, Samad Behrangi). Some of what is being written for children today, is in my opinion harmful rather than helpful. Taking them into the realm of imaginative unrealistic worlds, keeping them away from the realities of life and the society.
My name is David and I enjoy traditional horror and mystery books. I enjoy reading and writing. I have seven published books. I am a huge fan of James Mason as well.
My name is Betsy. I love James Mason, and am interested in military history and mysteries. Unfortunately, a few of the topics that I was looking forward to discussing have been frozen. Most disappointing.

Hi, I'm David Steinman, the author of Money, Blood and Conscience, a literary political thriller about Ethiopia's democracy revolution to which I was an adviser for 27 years. I got into democracy promotion because it's an under-recognized component of long-term poverty reduction. I'm also an economist and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for my role in overthrowing Ethiopia's former dictatorship. I also exposed that dictatorship's crimes against humanity and theft of billions from famine victims in the Washington Post, Forbes and New York Times.
I am a writer and a life long fan of James Mason. If you want to know more about me then here is my website. Thanks! https://davidkempfbooks.com/

Hello! I was lucky enough to be introduced to many classic films throughout my childhood, which has left me with a movie-watching habit (over 200 watched last year,) and a particular if perhaps somewhat contradictory fondness for both film noir and
westerns.
Odd Man Out comes to mind as one of my favourite James Mason movies.
I also read a fair amount, fairly widely, and as someone who would like to write proper full-length westerns some day, along with other novels, last year I began on 'a mission' to read and review a western book a month.
I also enjoy mysteries (I'm currently reading House of Correction by Nicci French) historical fiction (Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light is on my 'next up' pile,) humour, some speculative fiction, and should like to catch up on the Booker winners sometime soon.
As I mentioned, I'm an author as well, with about twenty short stories published (most under a different name) so far. I try to post weekly on my blog - it's mainly reviews and recipes at the moment. vtdorch.wordpress.com
I'm happy to join this community of similarly-minded classic film fans and readers!

Welcome VT!!
Wonderful to have you as a member and I apologize for taking so long to welcome you. I might mention that in all the interviews I saw of James Mason he always mentioned Odd Man Out as his favorite film and one of the very few that he was actually proud of out of the over 100 movies he made. He especially loved that the cast was made up mostly of first time movie actors from the Abbey theater from Ireland. Again absolutely wonderful to have you with us and welcome welcome welcome

Hello, my name is Elie, I'm 27 and I live in Lebanon.Nice to meet you all. This is my first time using goodreads, and I just published my first book. Looking forward to interacting with all of you!
Hello readers and authors, storytellers and alike... I am a storyteller myself, and love to weave a web of fictional characters who have ups and downs like all of us. The weather here has been cold, icy, snowy, and now rainy, soon to be hot, dry and muggy. Where is the best place to live weather-wise do you think? I do hope all of you who read this are well, being as we have all found ourselves in a state of shock over the worlds past events. Take care and always remember to give a smile, get a smile, keep a smile.
What's up? I'm Tosha, or Tock, and from Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm a bibliophile, and have been for as long as I can remember! I became a bibliophilia before I could read, when my dad would read to me every night before bed. Eventually, I was reading to him every night and he had converted me into a bibliophile! ♡ I read anything I can get my hands on, and will try any book handed to me. This openness (having/keeping an open mind), had introduced me to so many new authors & different genres I would have never picked on my own! So many times I've found a book, wasn't attracted to the cover, still wasn't interested after reading the blurb on the back, but I began reading it- giving it a chance- finding myself to actually like the book! Then there are times I see a cover that really attracts me on a friend's shelf, the blurb on the back is just as interesting as the cover, and then I began reading to find myself not interested at all, left feeling deceived. And honestly, it's about 50-50 if I'll finish the book. Sometimes I stop before the 1st chapter is over, abandoning the book. But other times (sometimes because honestly the book is the only thing I have besides staring at the floor or walls bored out of my frigging mind with nothing to do!), I will march on to the finish line, plowing through to the end. Thanks for the invite & hello everyone!

Hello everyone. I've only recently come across groups within goodreads and this one sounds like fun! The eclectic range of genres and themes is very appealing and, of course, James Mason was such a wonderful actor. I watched The fall of the Roman Empire a few days ago and his performance was typically superb.
