Somehow this "introduce yourself" discussion slipped past me. I am up against a couple very tight deadlines and promise to revisit with a more thorough introduction very soon. I'm Elle, and I have been writing ad copy and screenplays for a quite some time before actually trying my hand with novels. At the urging of a close friend, I have recently (three years now) been writing romance/erotica/thrillers and I am counting down the days until my first book "Stranded" is available to the public. My publisher (Secret Cravings) tells me that it will be out in early May! I have enjoyed reading all of your comments and suggestions and I am proud to be a part of such a supportive on-line community. Thanks for having me. Keep those recommendations coming! -Elle

Years ago - five? Six? Dunno' ... anyway, let's just say 'many moons ago' Rick invited me here and I've stayed.Just so you know - I'm certainly not a newbie at James Mason club.
I rarely have a lotta time to hang out here, but something I do like is the varied topics here at the group. Especially the movies.
I will try to participate in a couple of threads each time I visit.
And oh yeah ... I forgot to tell y'all ... I too am a writer. I tend to forget to point this out when I enter threads - guess that's because I am not really in-the-zone for my writing at present. But I do have some 'work' besides horsing around with the games at Facebook - ha ha!For the past 10 years I've been working on a collection of stories, the whole of which I refer to as Dark Horses - one part of which is Book Of Fagan.
That's why you will notice at Facebook, that one of my accounts there has me under the sub-name of Evelyn Fagan.
She is a character in my stories - an Irish woman who finds herself part of a Welsh family. She is an amazing person who, as a young woman, hopped a big ocean liner, disguised as a young man, in order to escape her oppressive father and brothers. She made her life here in Canada in the 1930's.
I've never published any of this work.
If you want to see what I have done - which is small stuff, really - just type my name in the window at any search engine - Carly Svamvour.
That will lead you to short pieces, poems that I have published.
And then - well, thanks for flying Google Airlines.

I'm Boyd Lemon from St. Marys, Georgia. I have published six books, including a recent novel. All of my Kindle books are on sale for $.99, including my new novel, my three memoirs and my two volumes of short stories. I decided to do this in recognition that I am not trying to make a living from writing. I am retired. My interest is in getting my writing and ideas "out there" to as many people as possible, and lowering the price to less than a dollar seems to be the way to do that. Please check out my books here.

Hi, thank you for the invite. I'm looking forward to meeting new people.I blog at http://booksatvioletcrush.com
I was a Standup Comic for over 8 years. I spread the joys of humor from the midwest of the United States to the east, south, and west. After a move to LA, I fell out of entertainment and into the world of business management. It was interesting and exciting and all in all a good experience, but now it's time to write!
Welcome to the group, Brian!:)

Nice to meet you, Marge. Which book besides "Great Expectations" would you recommend to someone who wants to pick up Dickens again?
Aaron{{REBLAST}} wrote: "
A Tale of Two Cities is a great one, Daniel."Somehow, I figured that would be the one you would recommend. I've had my eye on it for a while too.
It's my favorite Dickens novel. An excellent read, Daniel.
Hi, I'm an author and an extreme introvert so I am finding it very hard to put myself out there but this seems like a wonderful group of people so far. I love reading everything and anything I can get my hands on and the books I've written show that. One is Horror and the other one is romance and I am now working on a series about depressions as it's something I have dealt with and would like to help people understand. My life now is happy and full of strange and wonderful people that make me smile. It never hurts to add more though. :-)
Hi, Leanne. Welcome to the group.:) I'm an introvert, too, but find I get more outgoing the longer I'm on GR.
You wrote a horror novel? Awesome. I have one chapter left to write of my own horror novel. I've also been battling depression since I was 18. I'm now 43. Glad your life is happy and full. Nope, never hurts to add more friends. I look forward to getting to know you.

Thank you Aaron. I can't wait to look through more on here. Hoping it doesn't help out my procrastination to much. :-)My novel is called Choice. It still seems strange to be able to say I have written a book after wanting to for so long. Let alone being an author.
I couldn't write for years due to depression as everything I wrote scared me. Then the first book I wrote without really meaning to was a horror. It's a lot tamer then some of what I have read though and a lot of what I have thought.
Good luck with your writing.
You're very welcome, Leanne. It's hell on my procrastination but very fun all the same.:)
Choice...I like that title. It must be amazing to know you're a published author. Has it sunk in yet? My sister is also a published author, and she's still overwhelmed by it all.
Same here. Depression can be hell on the creative process. Horror is actually a good outlet for depression, as my first book is also a horror novel.
I tamed my book down, too. No gore and guts etc.
And good luck with your writing, too.

It's been over a year since choice was taken by a publisher and I think I'm still at the stage where receiving an email with my characters names in has not sunken in.I never realized how much there is to having your own book since I come from a small town that didn't do anything public with them and only has two book shops. It is fun learning about it and finding more people that love books as much as I do. Being into everything isn't helping though as I want to find it all but don't have the time.
I think I played with my mind quite a lot writing Choice as I knew what I wanted out of it but couldn't write it truthfully without putting myself back a bit. I kept control of myself but I did scare some of the people around me because they thought I was heading back into the abyss. It was a dangerous thing to do but I actually sorted out some things that I hadn't known were still problems while I was there. That sounds so strange.
I thought what I'm writing at the moment would possibly have a bad effect on me but wanted to help anyway so I started it. At the moment I'm writing every night -which I know isn't good for me- but I have always been more awake at night for some reason. Then every morning I haven't been able to sleep because I want to enjoy the day. It's the complete opposite of what I thought would happen. It is great to finally put some sort of sense to what happened and explore both sides of it in story form. It does read like a horror though which is not surprising because at least for me that's what depression feels like, just not in the fun sense.
Please tell Dr. Mason that I've been yelling at Amazon for a week and they finally got my GOAT-RIPPER down to 99-cents for the long weekend. I had to send a wheel of cheese and a barrel of wine. Are they on vacation, or what? http://www.amazon.com/Goat-Ripper-Cas...
They all went to the Cayman Islands to empty their accounts, Peter.
Goat Ripper...awesome title. Is it horror?

that costs lots and lots of money to the taxpayer, the government, and the end user. It follows the story of Adam a
young man who has seen the corruption within the health care system and does his best to rectify it .It shows
readers the budgeting problems that are plaguing the UK now, and the fact that even though there are a multitude
of competent and dedicated members in health care, they are being swamped by the red tape forced upon them by
the middle management. It totally mirrors the health care problems of the world today where the strong prey on the
weak and helpless.
