Raul Sanchez | 10 comments Thanks for your gracious invitation to the club, Rick.

After creating the fiction commonly known as advertising for two decades, I decided to start telling my own stories. Since then, I've had two novels published by Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books), AMERICA LIBRE and HOUSE DIVIDED. The third novel in this trilogy, PANCHO LAND is available on Kindle November 12th. They're dystopian thrillers about a future U.S. when demagogues take control. My author's site has more details: www.RaulRamos.com

I'll be glad to share whatever insights I can offer to the members -- and hope to learn some things myself.

Looking forward to getting better acquainted,
Raul

message 5665: by Victoria (last edited Oct 31, 2012 01:30PM) (new)

Victoria Taylor (vtaylor) | 1 comments Hi! Thank you so much for this opportunity Rick!
My book "Caitlin's Wish" helps children who are Young Carers achieve their full potential in life. It's a magical tale of triumph over adversity, following one little girl's journey as she comes to terms with her Father's life-altering disability. A story of real life struggles merged with a fantastical adventure into Fairyland, which helps Young Carers see their lives from another perspective; enabling them to focus on the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives.
Available in paperback and E book.
Signed / discounted copies available from website - http://www.caitlinswish.co.uk

http://www.facebook.com/CaitlinsWish

http://twitter.com/VTaylorAuthor

Here's what other people are saying....

“Caitlin’s wish is an imaginative, thought provoking book which is beautifully illustrated. It makes a perfect resource for schools to use in conjunction with the ‘Carers Trust schools resource pack.’
Reading Caitlin’s wish will enable young people to gain a better understanding of what being a young carer is really like. Furthermore reading it will encourage greater empathy, respect and tolerance from all ages who are not personally affected by illness or disability themselves."
Karl Napieralla OBE, Director of Education, Leisure and Lifelong Learning, Neath Port Talbot, Wales, UK.

"Even the concept of Young Carers was new to me when I first got involved with some of our local Carers groups.
The idea that children, some under the age of 8, are caring for family members on a daily basis, was mind-blowing to me.
Many have no support and often are unaware themselves that they are doing the work of a Carer.

There are so many aspects of these children's lives that need a light shone on them - helping them to identify themselves as Carers in the first place, letting them know what help and support is available, making that support accessible to them, addressing the stigma that children can feel about being young Carers.
All of this can be helped by raising awareness within our communities of this, all too often, hidden world.
Together, let us do all we can to let these children know that they are not alone, that they have our support and that the future can be hopeful and full of promise.
Please give Victoria my best wishes and I hope the launch is a great success.”

Michael Sheen OBE

“Caitlin’s wish is a beautiful book with a very powerful message for both children and adults. Young carers are often carrying huge burdens, but go unrecognized and unsupported. Caitlin’s wish is a great resource that will initiate discussion, sharing and understanding.”
Lynne Hill, Policy Director, Children in Wales. (www.childreninwales.org)

“What happens when a parent becomes ill? Victoria Taylor has taken her own family’s experiences with chronic intracranial hypertension (IH) and written an imaginative tale, with love, insight, and gentle reassurance. Caitlin’s Wish is a delight to read and look at, with watercolor illustrations of a magical world. It helps families and educators navigate the uncertainty of chronic illness and guide children in a creative and loving way."
Emanuel Tanne, M.D. Co-Founder and President, Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation, USA

“The perspectives and experiences of children who live with and care for parents with illness or disability are critical to our understanding about their health and social care needs. Caitlin’s Wish provides just such insight in a sensitive, touching and loving way. It would be great if all children and families affected by parental illness or disability could have access to this book as a starting point for talking about these important issues.”

Elizabeth Ely | 2 comments I recently published my first novel, Life's Attic, after enjoying an earlier career as a harpist. Thank you so much, Rick, for the LinkedIn invitation to post about it here. I'm so happy to have discovered such a great group!

From the Back Cover of Life's Attic:
In the fictional West Coast town of Clementine, Leanne Porter is about to meet Jay Hanson. There’s just one problem. Jay has AIDS. But will that stop them from loving each other? And what will their lives be as a result of this chance meeting?
Two thinkers who are great talkers, Jay and Leanne remain true to themselves, facing tough inevitabilities head-on with humour, optimism, and joy. Life’s Attic is a journey of hope and happiness amid the challenges of life and death. Life has many forms. So does love.

My website http://elizabethely.com has more information about the novel as well as a section about my former life as a professional harpist. There's also a blog component featuring posts on a range of subjects – everyday musings to animal and environmental concerns.

Life’s Attic Press Release http://elizabethely.com/2012/10/24/pr...

You can also “Look Inside” Life's Attic at any of the Amazon sites.

I also have a Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/ElizabethEly...

Thanks so much for checking it out. :) I'm really looking forward to being a part of this friendly, supportive, and happy group. Cheers!
