The 2015 Reading Challenge Second Read-a-Thon
Well, I will be on vacation (I'm a teacher) and ~8 months pregnant, so I imagine I can handle a day of reading by the pool, and I imagine I won't be sleeping well by then anyway ;) I'm in!
I'm excited! I didn't participate as much for the first one as I had wanted to...so I'm definitely aiming to read more during this one!
This is the weekend after I finish summer classes. Seems like the perfect time to get some (fun) reading time in!
I will be able to do part of this challenge this time! Have to work early the next day so I can't stay up for the full 24hrs.
Last one didn't work at all in my schedule, but hoping this one will. Vacation calls! And it is 7-11 day everyone, so enjoy a free slurpee while you read. ;)
I would love to join, since I didn't participate as much as I wanted last time, but friends of mine organize a music festival this particular weekend so I'm probably going to work there from Friday to Sunday. We'll see, otherwise I'll participate in the third Read-a-thon!
This sounds like fun :). I already know that all four kids will be at my parents's let's just hope I won't be scheduled to work on 07/11, fingers crossed!

I will have plenty of time to read!"With as much as you read, I would LOVE to see your library at home!!!! have you decided what your main read for this read-a-thon is going to be? or are you going to wait until closer to the 11th?
Dang! My parents are visiting me in Alaska during that time. I won't be getting much reading done for two weeks, but I will be glad to see them, and happy that they're finally going to be able to see the state.
I'm so tired I misread July as June and was a little upset for moment. I'm definitely joining in on this one!

At the moment I have nothing planned for that day so I should be able to join in this time too! I'm hoping the day will be hot and sunny so I can lounge in my garden and hopefully tan a bit while I'm reading!

I'm going to be waiting to see where I'm at with my challenge by that point and then I'll decide which book to dedicate that day to once it gets nearer. Knowing me, I'll probably only make the final decision the day before!

Don't worry, I make all these elaborate plans of what I'm going to read and the snacks I'm going to have...and then the day of I'm like "hmm, that doesn't really sound good today..." and then spend like a few hours perusing my bookshelf -.-
I just moved into a new room, and it has a lot of shelving for my 160+ books! Thank you guys so much for noticing! I'll upload pictures sometime! I have a Twitter account: @thelitlover. I always have a few on there. I think I will be trying to tackle the LOTR trilogy, but that's a lot... And if I just don't like them, then I have a few books lined up: The Counte of Monte Cristo, Don Quixote, The Three Musketeers...
Of course, there will be a nice amount of YA thrown in there. For breaks and such.

I have a twitter too, mine is @latenight_queen, so I will definitely follow you, that name works for my instagram as well which I typically use more often.
Francesca wrote: "I just followed you both! I'm @frantasticmissfox !"you're name is so awesome I'm jelly.
I have all my social accounts with the name TheLitLover! I'm so glad I actually managed to make that happen...Francesca yours is cool!

My hammock has been lonely with all of the rain we have been getting.
We are coming up on July 11th rather quickly. Who is read for some hardcore reading for 24 hours straight with *hopefully* little to no interruptions!!!
That's what I'm hoping as well. As of right now I have no plans other than reading...I'm sure that will change though...it sucks to be an adult.
Saturdays are hard for me to be in for the full 24 hours, but hoping I can maximize the number of hours I spend reading that day and join in the fun.
Tanya wrote: "Saturdays are hard for me to be in for the full 24 hours, but hoping I can maximize the number of hours I spend reading that day and join in the fun."Mine can sometimes be hectic too Tanya, the last reading challenge I had to adjust the times and start Friday night and finish Saturday because I had plans that Saturday night.
Looking forward to the 2nd read-a-thon...unfortunately, I have concert tickets for the evening of 7/11. Fortunately, I am on vacation at the beach, so I may decide to adjust my start/ending times, or will just read up to the point that I leave for the concert and, then start up again once I get back to my vacation house after the concert!
Brittany wrote: "woo concerts! who are ya going to see?"I have tickets to see Idina Menzel earlier that week and Dave Matthews the night of the read-a-thon. Seems to me I spend most of my hard-earned money on travel and concert tix...but, it is so worth it to spend time with some great friends in far-away places that I don't get to see but once or twice a year!
Might not have the time with other commitments but whatever wish everyone who does take part enjoyable reading - here's to the person who does the longest - if they can keep their eyes open to tell us all!!!
Yeah so I doubt I'm going to get to read all day on Saturday now. I'll be able to get a good amount of reading done in the morning but in the afternoon my Sisters are coming round and we're going with my Mum to visit my Nan so that will probably take up a bit of time in the afternoon and then afterwards I imagine my Sisters will probably come back to ours for a bit so I won't be able to read while they're round. I can get as much reading done as possible in the morning and the evening though and at the moment I have nothing planned for Sunday so I might be able to do it then (although I may be seeing one of my friends that day, damn it! When did I become so sociable?!).
Lmao Francesca, I'm not even that sociable and I still probably won't get as much reading done as I want to!
Brittany wrote: "Lmao Francesca, I'm not even that sociable and I still probably won't get as much reading done as I want to!"Most of the time I have nothing to do but I'm quite bad at getting distracted by TV shows and movies anyway, but this year I've been adamant about getting on with my reading and suddenly everyone's actually inviting me out to do things. Lol!
Francesca wrote:"I've been adamant about getting on with my reading and suddenly everyone's actually inviting me out to do things"I don't have that problem...I guess that's what happens when you live with your best friend and really don't have anyone else lol

To be fair, most of the time when I go out somewhere or do something it's usually with one of my sisters or my mum or my dad! Lol! I only have three close friends and they're generally busy most weekends (they're all separate friends that don't also know each other), they're all in relationships except me so they're generally busy with their boyfriends.
Brittany wrote: "That's how my roommate/best friend is. I'm usually a third wheel if I decide to go out with them :/"Being the third wheel is basically the story of my life! Lol! At one point I was friends with a group (including one of my close friends) where they were all couples except me so when we'd go out I was basically a fifth wheel unless my friend Matt came with us and then at least I had another single person to keep me company. I was basically Ted Mosby otherwise! Haha!
Picked up all of my books at the library last night, counting down the hours until start time. Woohoo

If you're new to Read-a-Thons, here are some FAQs.
What is a Read-a-Thon?
A readathon is an event that typically takes place over 24 hours. You are encouraged to read for 24 hours straight. A lot of groups, bookclubs, and websites have their own Read-a-Thons a few times a year (sometimes with challenges and prizes).
What are the dates?
Our group will be hosting four Read-a-Thons this year! The year has been split into four 'terms' and a Read-a-Thon will occur at the end of each term. When dates are decided, an announcement will be made.
First Term: March 20, 2015 8:00 PM CSTSecond Term: July 11, 2015 8:00 AM CST
Third Term: TBA
Fourth Term: TBA
Do I have to stay up for 24 hours?
Of course not! A Read-a-Thon is supposed to a fun event, not something you dread. Feel free to customize the Read-a-Thon to fit your needs. Many people just set a goal (i.e., read 3 books in the 24 hour period).
Is this required?
Oh heavens no! This is just a fun event for our group to participate in. If you are behind in your readings, this will be a great time to catch up!
Where can I sign up?
You can RSVP here.
Will there be discussions?
Of course! And games! And challenges! And prizes! During the 24-Hour Read-a-Thon, Various posts will be made in the Read-a-Thon folder for discussing goals, updating progress, suggesting books, and having fun!
