Karen Commins (karencommins) | 75 comments Goodreads is rolling out a Listen button for Audible titles!

According to the blog post below and its comments:

"We've added free audio samples for 180,000 Audible titles to the Goodreads website, where they're available to all of our members....

We're rolling this feature out to all our members over the course of the week. You can expect to see it by Friday (April 24th). "

It's unclear to me whether publishers, authors, and narrators will need to continue to manually add the audio edition of the book to Goodreads.

Dee (austhokie) | 1947 comments I believe they are using sample imports from audible that correlate to the ISBN/ASIN of the audio on Amazon - so if you add the record manually, you need to make sure to include that or it won't link and they won't be automatic - it will depend on the next time the import is run

Sandi (sandikal) | 420 comments From the blog post, it looks like the listen button will be on all editions of the book, not just the audio version. The picture shows it on the page for the hardback edition of a book.

What I really want out of GoodReads is the ability to choose the edition of the book I'm reading through the app. With paper books, I can always scan the barcode, but that doesn't work with audiobooks or ebooks.

Donna | 228 comments This is a cool feature, and does seem like a sign that Goodreads is more cognizant of us listeners, but I agree with Sandi, the biggest improvement would be making it easier to add audio editions to My Books. The Listen button works fine, but I thought there would be an option to mark the audio book I just sampled as Want to Read; instead, there were just some options to learn more about Audible or for Audible members to buy the book.

Good point, Donna. Maybe if Audible hears from more of us, they will make that direct linking possible.

Kari (klhennenfent) I saw it today as I recorded listening to Instructions by Neil Gaiman.

Who do I contact to have this feature added to my book that is on audible.com?
