Seeing as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is our BoM this month, i would like to know what people thought of the movie vs. the book?

So if you have read it and watched the movie what did you think?

I liked both the book and the movie! The movie added some stuff here and there, but i think they will all be in the next book :)

Carlise (riven16) Not that keen on the book-series and haven't watched the movie yet. It's on my to-do list :P

Lauren Smith The Hitchhiker's books are my favourites, but I hate what they did with the movie. It's not because they made up some new stuff, but because they changed some of the characters. One of the reasons Arthur is so funny is that he hates travelling around the universe all the time and just wants to go home. He just wants a cup of tea (which leads to one of the funniest scenes in the series) and his house back. But by the end of the movie, he's all excited about galactic travel with Trillian.

They also increased the romance between Arthur and Trillian, which doesn't really exist in the book. Trillian is also girlier and more fragile in the movie - she's much more upset about the earth being destroyed, whereas in the book she just reflects on it for a bit and then dismisses it. She left the planet ages ago anyway. I suspect Hollywood had too much of an influence here.

And Zaphod is supposed to have two separate but similar heads and a third arm, not two arms and that weird roll-up evil head thing. It really pissed me off.

It is an awesome series, I'd recommend it to anyone :) I often reread it and it never gets old.
Perhaps I'm being too hard on the movie because I liked the books so much.
