So, I was bored and I was thinking (a dangerous combination) and I thought what would you guys think about doing a bookmark swap? Make, create, decorate bookmarks and then we swap them with each other. I know I always am grabing anything to stick in the pages of my various books to mark a spot. I hate dog earring them.
If there are enough people interested I'd be glad to host it.
The general idea would be to get about 8-12 people interested (at least) each make as many book marks as that send them to me with a SASE and I would give each person in the group on of everyone bookmarks and send them back to you. So youd send in say 12 of your own and youd get back 12 different ones.
If youd be interested let me know if we get atleast 8 committed to it ill host it. If we get more then we can always break up into more than one group.

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments Tera! That is an amaaaaaaaaazing idea. Dangerous, schmangerous! I want you to be bored and thinking more often! I'm in, in, in!

Ok, wait, before I totally commit--what's the timeline?

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) i'm not sure i'll do this, but, speaking of bookmark's & a lack thereof, i use those plastic plant id things that are stuck in potted plants & flowers as book marks since i have dozens (& dozens & dozens!) of them! just my 2 cents!!!

LOL Jo were we seperated at birth?! That is exactly what I have been using lately. TOO funny.
Amanda you crack me up. Trust me dangerous is anytime i have to think too much.
Timeline well once we get enough people I would say a timeline of a couple weeks or so before people send them off to me? I dont think they should be that labor intensive so two weeks be good once/if we get enough people?

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments I have this vision of women, scattered across America, simultaneously sitting at their kitchen tables with glue, glitter, and fingerpaints just having the best time of their lives. It is a slice of life moment just waiting to happen!

Jackie (findingjackie) | 214 comments I'm in. But I'll admit, I'm not creative. So I'd need some help. I have a weakness for bookmarks. My husband rolls his eyes every time I buy more.

No need to be creative or elaborate if you dont want to. It can be as simple as cardstock with a favorite quote printed on it.
Some ideas
ribbon with a charm at the end
Cardstock embelished with
quotes
stickers
ribbon
clip-art
magazine pictures that strike you
stamps
glitter
patterned paper
lace

sheesh just about anything.
You can use modge podge or elmers glue, you can laminate them, use contact paper.

The sky is the limit but bottom line is its all about the fun so dont make it a stress more of a release.

Jo I think I am in. I want to be in.

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth I'd love to be in, but I'm afraid I can't. I have two types of bookmarks -- boarding passes and letters. It's always fun to pick up a book years later and find a boarding pass "Pisani, E. Paris to Istanbul. And then to try to remember why you were going to Istanbul, and what on earth you did there. Letters are even better (though they date me a bit - I bet there are members of this group who have never written a snail-mail letter to a friend). But they're not exactly something to share around.

Right now I'm reading Lampedusa's The Leopard -- he and his wife used to hide letters (and money) in books in their library, and then forget which book they'd put them in. Instructions for posthumous publication of the novel were found in a book years later....

Beth Larabee | 52 comments I'd like to do this....

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments Oh, come on Elizabeth, do it anyway! I'm sure we'll all be more than happy to get our hands on some juicy correspondence between people we don't know. Let us live vicariously through you! ha ha

Paige Anderson | 30 comments Hmmmmm . . . . I'd like to try this. I've been doing all digital lately, but have been thinking about trying hybrid. Making bookmarks would give me a smaller canvas to work on, right? (And, maybe I'd actually print something out!)

message 13: by Jen (new)

Jen | 3 comments I might be tempted. :) Depends on the deadline! I'm in the middle of soccer/tball season, so my time at the computer is limited.

message 14: by Jules (new)

Jules (juliemetz) | 27 comments i would give it my best attempt at not procrastinating it out of the picture. did that make sense?

message 15: by Rolana (new)

Rolana | 22 comments Count me in! I would love to get my hands back on my paper, scissors, and glue. I was thinking of giving my stash away, but maybe this would encourage me to start scrapping again.

I am going to keep the sign up open until the 11th. Depending on how many we have I'll either break us up into groups or just run with one group.
We will go from then until the 25th of April. All bookmarks will need to be SENT no later than april 25th. Ill give it a week or so for them all to get here then send them back out to everyone that participated.

So if you want to get a jump start you can start working on some now knowing that the 25th of april will be send-off day.
I cant wait to see what everyone comes up with...and to be able to shove something in a book that actually is meant to be there and not my cable bill. (although it makes a better bookmark then it does bill)

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) tera, great minds think alike!!! ;) i don't think i'm in this, but it has given me the idea to embellish my plant id tags that i already use for bookmarks!

apollonia (mrsquale) This idea sounds great, but I don't think I have the time for this right now.

message 20: by MJ (new)

MJ I am in. I love to pretend I am crafty and creative. This is small and simple enough I wont get made and thorw it all away because its not just right.

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments Tera, did our event get cancelled? I don't see it listed anymore! Or, wait, maybe it just went away because today is the 11th? Surprise--I'm confused.
