I'm a massive fan of Tolkien and I've got most of the books published before and after his death, but this was one I was missing.
It's like a 'behind the scenes' look at his development of the stories set in Middle-earth, with commentary and notes by his son Christopher.
So far I've found it really interesting, though a massive chunk of the book is given over to a variation on The Children of Hurin which was going to be my next book to read from my Tolkien collection. I'll be putting that one off for a little while otherwise there'll be a lot of repetition.
