new reader recs

My grandson is six, reading very well But I'm unsure if he's ready for Heinlein and Norton.

Can you guys recommend any scifi slightly younger than they. I'm drawing a blank.

I am absolutely floored by Dragon Slayer. I expected excellence but I never expected grit.
And so much grit! You sure know how to torture a hero.

I thought I was at a loss for words (review fever), but there's a good start right there. Cool.
I hate reviewing. I noticed you said you only review books you like.
I'm leaning the same way, or only if I can find something I like about it.

I put most of it on a KU subscription, which is an amazing deal for readers like me. I definitely get my moneys worth. ;o) Unfortunately that left very little for books outside the subscription. I tried to get at least one each of the Huns not in the program but I fear I feel short, so many.

Quite any array of talent there and the ladies definitely dominate, so far anyway. Just finishing Tales From The Uplands.
