It was weird to make a point that we would no longer be able to post links or images in messages, when they were literally telling us we will no longer be able to send messages at all..but ok Goodreads 😂.
Jessica,
That was my point when they first sent it out. Then I decided not to argue with people. I would just prepare for the worst. Either GR would take away the option or not. I would be prepared to help this group move forward. We would have options.

The DM said regular members could not message each other, but that Group Moderators still can, so I read it that when Group Mods broadcast messages now, it would have to be only text based without images and links.

But I come from a world where words matter. 🤷♀️ But messaging isn't always clear when sending info like that out, so I'm not assuming anything.
Donna wrote: "Robin! Seriously! I meant you do what you are gonna do, NOT that! Wow, you took it there... You dirty-minded thing."🤣😂🤦♀🤣 UMMMMMMMM-----no Donna, you took it there--you're the dirty minded one🤣 That whole paragraph was talking about DO ME as in moving my badges and figuring out how to maneuver around these possible changes because I'm tech challenged!
Donna wrote: "Actions speak louder than words."Exactly. I for one am glad to see you guys taking steps and making plans if they go to the extreme. By failing to prepare, you’re preparing to fail. Better to play it safe!
Thank you, Danielle. I would rather not let the whole lot of you down. Some of you might hunt me down. ROFL!
Kelly (Maybedog) wrote: "You people have minds in the gutter... I love it."LOL--I'm the crazy book and challenge lady who rarely gets things right and comes back with some weird off the wall sayings🤪.....but this time, I was actually trying to be good, had good intentions and still got it all wrong and it didn't come across right 🤦♀
I usually don't say a whole lot in the groups--but sometimes Donna and I get each other stirred up bantering back and forth. 🤣
I'm usually the one who makes comments that are as clear as mud🤣 and Donna knows this--especially when it comes to challenge rules and such. Sometimes I surprise her and get it right but not often!
I just had an idea. I apologise if this has already been discussed. What about if there was a section called something like “Chats”, & in there those of us who wanted to could create our own thread just for conversations & chatting with GR friends?
It could be person/people specific, or open to anyone. This could be clarified in the name of the thread, like the names of the people, plus “- Open” or “- Just Us”.
How does that sound to everyone?
You could .. or you could join the Discord group where there is already the ability to DM and have voice chats, etc.
And then if there was anything super sensitive to talk about with people, you’d obviously be close enough friends to connect via email or Facebook.
Has any of the members in this group, gone to sign the petition that was created the day GR sent the message regarding DMs? If you have not, or you have, but have not shared this petition, please do so now. As of right now there are only 2,071 signatures. Your signatures and comments are gravely needed on this petition.

Thank you.
Donna wrote: "I sent that out as a broadcast to the group, but thank you for posting the link here as well."You're welcome :)
I signed it but it's never going to be enough. According to Google, GR has over 150 million members. The AI is often wrong but I found an article that said the same thing. That means the petition has around 0.00001 percent of the users of the site.
I think that more groups need to broadcast it as I did. I am a member of several groups, and I didn't get a single broadcast with the petition other than the one I sent. Going from thread to thread just isn't going to get the exposure the petition needs. You need more people to see it and fast.
Even my broadcast didn't yield that many signatures because we are a small group in the grand scheme of things. You also need to find a big-name influencer online to back it. That will catch some attention.

However, we have gotten a variety of responses from these people. They don't know what they are doing. One person says one thing, another says another thing. I will still plan for any outcome.
