SOLVED. Children’s chapter book about a cat in 1970’s NYC who wants to become a serious actor

As the title states. A hardcover chapter book for older children, it was published in the 1970’s. All of the characters are cats. Most live in a large apartment complex where the fire escape system is used for visiting different units. The main character wants to be an actor. He maybe does casting calls for cat food commercials. There are references to Morris the cat who was in tv commercials during this era. A neighborhood cat takes the main character under his wing, since he has studied under the great Stanislavsky. One if the exercises has the main cat putting marbles in his mouth to improve enunciation. There is a spoiled Persian cat on a different floor. Thanks in advance, I can’t wait to find it!

This reminds me a little bit of the Cat Club series by Esther Averill.

Jenny Linsky and her friends mostly lived in Greenwich Village (MacDougal Sullivan Gardens, to be exact), not a hotel; and most of the stories were written well before the Morris commercials aired. But maybe The Hotel Cat (1969)? Most of the Cat Club go to live in a hotel during a cold snap, but I don't remember anyone wanting to be an actor.
