Jane Austen was born 250 years ago on December 16, 1775, and we are taking her six novels for our theme this season. Sense and Sensibility was her first published book. Read a book that focuses on a pair or group of siblings.

20.2 Pride and Prejudice (1813)
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Darcy is one tall drink of water. Even scientists agree: the biologist who pinpointed the pheromone which makes a male mouse attractive to the lady mice coined it "darcin," in honor of the Regency heartthrob. Read a book shelved as Science 100 or more times.

20.3 Mansfield Park (1814)
Read a novel whose title includes the name of a fictional location. Please see the task thread for examples of books that do and don't work.

20.4 Emma (1815)
Austen began Emma with the intent to write "a heroine whom no one but myself will much like." The 1995 film adaptation, Clueless, created an "Emma" who was perhaps much more widely adored. Read a book that has been adapted into a movie, or read a retelling of one of Austen's novels.
When you claim the book-to-movie option, please post a link to show that there was a movie adaptation.

20.5 Northanger Abbey (1817)
Although this novel was not published in Austen's lifetime, she is believed to have spent several years working on it, and she finished it when she was just 23 years old. Read a book written when the author was in their teens or twenties.

20.6 Persuasion (1817)
This was the second novel published after Austen's death. Read a posthumously published book.

20.7 Most Strategic Reader's task

20.8 Talking Heads (Apple's Task)
I have recently bought tickets to see both David Byrne and Jerry Harrison, formerly of Talking Heads, next year with my husband. David is performing his most recent solo album, whilst Jerry is performing Remain in Light, the band's album from 1980, which was recorded in The Bahamas.
For this task, read a book by a writer born in a Caribbean country, using the list under the heading "Caribbean" here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...

20.9 Forces of Nature (Joanna's task)
Read a book featuring a natural disaster. The book may be fiction or non-fiction, and it can be set in the real world or in a fantasy world. A natural disaster is something that happens that isn't human-driven (e.g., volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, floods, etc.).

20.10 Mysteries Challenge (Rosemary's Task)
I'm still working on the early and middle years of our Mysteries Challenge (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ). Help me find ideas by reading a book with MPG Mystery or Crime published before 1980.
